The host or manager I think was very rude to the tables around us and us. Cocktails were very average and expensive for what they were. I get waits as I work in hospo myself but could’ve been handled 100% better. Would rate 0 stars...if I couldMore
We arrived sans booking after a sunset cruise and warmly greeted by the maitre de who sat us at a 'waiting' table until she found us a lounge, which was maybe 10 minutes, not a problem.
Atmosphere here is inviting and warm, but you need...to wear night vision goggles to be able to read the menus. Drinks ordered, by us at the bar, and the wait begins. Food and wine ordered, by us at the bar, and another wait begins.
And the drink wait continues. When you are sifted looking at the bar, hopefully your drink will come after the conclusion of the next staff conversation, eventually it does. Worth the wait and cost, not at $21 a pop. Food also took it's time, they must like a chat in the kitchen too, and our 2 share platters arrived which were tasty, satisfying, and plentiful. Wait staff were friendly.
Heads up is, just don't be in a hurry, and you'll enjoy the place, just eat the carrots so you can read the menu.More
This place really has a great vibe.
The staff were very accommodating as we had just got of Shaolin Sunset cruise.
The establishment was extremely busy tho they squeezed the 3 of us in not a problem and we had fantastic lounge seats - SCORED......WE ALL STARTED OFF WITH COCKTAILS, WHICH THE GIRLS ABSOLUTELY LOVED.
followed up with 6x share plates we were off to a great start.
The music, vibe and location is very hard to beat.
It can be a little pricey tho if it’s a one off then it’ll be a good one ☝️More
Lovely beach club type bar. Comfy seating, good service, relaxing atmosphere. Yummy food- veggie bowl great vegetarian option. Would recommend for a late lunch/afternoon drinks. Little slice of luxury in PD. Would suggest booking ahead.
Highly recommend to visit during your stay. Cocktails are awesome, some of the best we have tried! Food was also really good. One of the very few places to eat in port douglas that has some space allocated for people that show up at the...door (which was fantastic noting that every single restaurant was fully booked during our week stay in Port Douglas). The vibe is fantastic for a beautiful lunch near the water.More
We came to Barbados based on previous reviews and recommendations. The hostess seated us promptly for our 2 hr seated session the atmosphere is beautiful, the decor is flawless and the ambiance is relaxing. Shortly after we placed our order, the drinks came quickly and...after an hour later we asked where the rest of our order was, were told that it was being plated up. Meanwhile the table next to us arrived half an hour later than us and it would appear that they recieved our order. We asked once again as 1 & 1/2 hrs had now passed and we'd asked 3 times for our order.
The hostess who I think was the owner was apologetic and said look don't worry it's all free the food, drink and dessert. After 2 hours we finally recieved our food, mind you this is a seafood sharing board not a main meal! 2 hours and being deflected each time is not good enough, at no time were any of our questions about our order followed up.
This place has great potential if attention to detail and situational awareness improves.More
Barbados is always on our go-to places when in Port Douglas. This place is highly recommended by the team at Mowbray By The Sea and having been here ~3 times now I still absolutely love the vibe here. Great atmosphere, extensive drinks list and simple...yet wonderful menu. Hubby and I were here for our anniversary and we were lucky enough to secure a reservation during their busiest time.
Barbados is a place for you to chill, chat and laugh with family and friends while you enjoy the vibrant sunset among the lush green trees and grass. Wendy, the gracious host, was also lovely to chat with after she knew we were celebrating our anniversary.More
During a covid time where all tourist destinations are struggling, very bizarre experience once getting off a marina sunset cruise with the family and thinkin it would be a nice idea to do a pre-dinner drink to be treated this way. We were shuffled from...front door to bar and waited (even though there was seating and lounge areas vacant) and waited and then told to shuffle towards a couch, which was facing the bar even though it's whole emphasis is marina views. We were told on 2 occasions by the elderly maitrade that 'we were lucky to be there I am guessing without a booking but perhaps she was lucky given we spent $40 on cocktails with a lack of service with nibbles not even offered or even asked if we wanted another drink. We're a well travelled family, from far north qld and never had such bizarre service or experience. Borderline insta snobery. Plus no toilets in the venue, quite a walk down the mall! Very weird experience, never to go back, rather go to Hemingway brewery next door, 5 star.More
Nice location and great casual feel. Was able to accomodate our large group of 11 on New Years Eve and whilst it was only a 2 hour sitting they made us room to stay on longer. Nice tapas menu which came out very quickly even...with the place being full. Service was great and the owner very friendly. Definitely recommend.More
