Beautiful fresh and tasty fish and chips, the salad’s delicious and served by the friendly new owner!

Great coral trout and Barra, and absolute ginormous Greek and mixed salads. Very nicely grilled. Highly recommended.

Covid checkin, popular at dinner so social distanced lineup. Fast service, perfectly grilled barra, and huge salad portions, not stingy on ingredients, all fresh and crisp. 2 sidewalk tables if you need to eat right away and can’t wait till you get home. Generous chips...portions.More

Great value, I have been going here for about 10yrs and have never been disappointed. Crumbed Spanish mac and chips for 12.50 and is never greasy.

Went here for quick takeout as it used to be nice, now I think a Thai family own it?? Why they bought a fish n chip shop is beyond me?. Re-fried chips... the place isn’t even that busy so as to why they even re-fry...chips is a question?! Fish wasn’t that nice and close to being over done, potato cakes, prawns were so oily, they literally pulled them out the fryer and put them in a box?? Complete waste of money and I would not recommend at all. Definitely will not be going back...More

Not always easy to find decent Calamari but these guys achieved it. Also the fish was so good even my fussy son was seduced. Look for the place across the road from an extremely odd statue.

Words can not describe, how authenic the food is here, especially the salad selections. I am not a salad person, but always have a salad with my meal here. The Greek salad is my favorite and everything taste like it just came out of the...garden, very authenic and fresh. I like the fish and chips the best out of their meal selection, but their spanish mac special is really good, as well. I would recommend paying the extra $1 AUD for extra mayo and/or ketchup because they do not give you much at all with the meals. The customer service is very good, and they show their guests alot of personal concern and friendliness.More

Went for a plain hamburger and was pleased to find out it was a good old fashioned chip shop burger. Juicy, a bit greasy a great taste. Definitely recommended.

Travelling through Cairns frequently over the past four months I have been looking for decent fish and chips near to my normal hotel in Sheridan street and discovered Captain Cooks Diner several weeks ago for an easy and convenient evening meal. The selections of fish...and the ways to have it cooked and served are what I enjoy most but the chips being nice and crispy and dry help also, there are 5 salad selections when choosing the dine in meal and the portions are excellent. Condiments and sauces are available for purchase and the café also serves a selection of other sea foods and burger options, all meals cooked to order. There are tables on the pavement and limited seating inside the shop so no problems eating there rather than take away which suits me. Shop is open seven days lunch time till evening, 9.00 pm. and staff are very helpful and efficient.More
