It is difficult to get a table in this place unless you book well in advance but they do save spaces for walk-ins so we tried our luck yesterday and managed to get a table around 6pm but only outside which was fine because it...was a nice day. The outside dining area is surrounded by glass shields so if it is windy you are protected. We enjoyed sitting by the river and watching the birds whilst having our dinner. The food was nice but we wasn't wowed by it. Service started off well but got slower as it got busier. I recommend their Pimms cocktail, very good!More

Was recommended this place by our Airbnb host and we were not disappointed. One of our best meals of our stay in Dorset. Easy booking online (which many restaurants don’t offer) very welcoming friendly and attentive staff and the food was amazing. We were initially...seated inside as outside is on an available on the day basis but we moved outside shortly after arrival to a vacated table . The position overlooking the inlet is lovely. We ordered oysters first then calamari and puy lentil salad with crab. The dishes were beautifully presented and were very tasty. My husband remarked the calamari was the best he’s had (and he loves calamari and always chooses it). We will definitely return when we visit Dorset again . West Bay is a lovely area. Well done to the staff and chefs here they are doing an amazing job.More

Great service and great drinks menu. We had English sparkling wine and Aperol Spritz sat outside in the sun. Perfect afternoon.

Lovely food, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. We asked to sit outside as we could see about 8 empty tables but we were told they were fully seated outside, so not sure why we couldn’t eat outside but never mind, the food was lovely.

Even though we’d booked our table over a week in advance, on the night we were asked to leave it and relocate to the bar 30 minutes prior to the end of our ‘slot ‘ as the table was needed for another group! When we...got home we discovered that we had been overcharged for an extra dessert! Food was tasty and our table had a good view but these elements of the service left a sour taste.More

Enjoyed a delicious meal of ‘moules frites’. The mussels were super fresh, plump, juicy and cooked to perfection! The frites crisp, tasty and abundant. Washed down with delicious cocktails and followed by yummy yogurt panna cotta dessert. Not cheap but the superb quality and excellent...attentive service more than justified the price. Lovely meal and highly recommend! 👍More

We took a chance, looking for lunch & not having booked. They squeezed us in and provided lovely burgers and fish & chips. Very friendly, useful local information and a great setting by the water. Seemed very professionally run. Impressed.

Booked a table for 4 for lunch and asked to be by a window. Although not exactly in the window we were in a very light position and could see out across the river (where we understood there would be water, but the sluice gates...must have been used as it was mud and wading birds the day we were there). As soon as we saw Chowder on the menu 3 of the four of us chose that (it is simply delicious!) The smaller size was plenty for lunch. Staff friendly and efficient. Good choice of beers according to the men. Excellent system upholding Covid rules. Tasty lunch enjoyed by all.More

We decided to go there as it was a very pretty setting. We ordered breakfast and asked for poached eggs instead of fried (very simple and normal request) only to be told “the chef says the breakfasts come how the come. No changes” We also...asked for no Coriander in the avocado to be told “its already made up” In the end we left but paid for our drinks.... £9.60 for an apple juice and an orange juice.More

Had dinner here which was lovely and decided to come back next day for drinks. Cocktails were superb! Thoroughly recommend for good food, great drinks, excellent service overlooking the water.
