Enjoyed a lovely family meal here, sat at tables outside in the square. The food was excellent - you could actually taste the fresh ingredients unlike so many bland Indian restaurants in the U.K. and the chef clearly knew what he was doing. The service was efficient and fuss-free and the cost of the good and drinks was very reasonable, particularly given the quality of the food. Will definitely be going back

Absolutely l top draw Indian! I read the reviews which were excellent and they weren’t wrong. Although it is just off the main route, it is a lovely little place. You can sit inside or outside - not fantastic views so we sat inside - which was chilled (both temperature and atmosphere).
Really friendly staff and attentive. Deep in particular is a top man :-).
The star of the show is the food - really excellent. Well presented and very tasty - we had three different mains and they were so distinctive and what you would expect from the description (not like some places where it all looks the same).
Then the bill came and it was superb value.
I know people don’t come to Portugal for Indian cuisine, but if you are here and fancy one - this is the place to go!

Excellent recommendations from our new best friend, Deep (deep in Indian gastronomy knowledge too). He really guided us with vegan alternatives of bhuna and pathia, both the best versions we’d ever tasted (and believe us, we’ve done the rounds). Great starters of pakora and bhajis too. The lemon/coconut rices and pickle tray finished it off nicely. Can’t say enough about this lovely restaurant and the service. Don’t miss out.

The experience was good, it wasn't reasonable but the 4 star option is very good and it wasn't very good either. It was good, the service was quick and the food was tasty and fresh but I've had better. They indicated that for 4 people the rice had to be two doses and one would have been more than enough. The staff are friendly but the atmosphere is a little weak due to the decor I think.

Delicious food and great place to visit with a young child. The staff are very accommodating and friendly and they even remembered us from our visit 1 year ago.
The only issue you will have is you will be jealous of other tables food when it arrives as everything they serve is amazing!

Oh boy!!!!
Murghal Clay! Disappointed to say the least.
I do love an authentic Indian curry. This one wasn’t up to scratch - not worth a visit.
Starters were okay but a bit bland and lacking a depth of flavour. The tandoori 1/2 chicken had not much eating on it - not sure what half of the chicken it was but it was devoid of any meat on the bones. It could’ve been quail (or sparrow !!) for the size of it.
Mains were were interesting, a couple of us had the chilli garlic chicken. The overpowering flavour was of salt and chilli powder that hadn’t been cooked down properly.
The pasandas had a lot of mint in them & you couldn’t taste the almond flavour.
My niece is young and only wanted chicken nuggets and chips - the ‘French fries’ had been triple or even quadruple cooked, but not in the fancy Heston Blumenthal way. These were just hard AF!!
The ‘chicken nuggets’ were unusual, shaped like fishes and with a chicken content of zero.
What was most disappointing was the service. They were uninterested and argumentative when we gave our feedback and issues during the meal. We got told ‘if you want authentic Indian food, go to India’. Enough said.
(Ps. I have been to India)

If you are looking for an excellent and authentic Indian restaurant located in a beautiful area of the Algarve, then Mughal Clay is a perfect choice. We have been visiting Mughal Clay annually for close to two decades now and each experience is better than the last! The team are always super friendly, informative and polite, with great hospitality all around. For our most recent visit, a big thank you is owed to Deeb, our server, who went above and beyond and was very helpful throughout the evening. The food was superb as always- the Onion Bhaji’s were delightful. Overall, the most recent experience and our experiences over the years are a testament to the hardwork and expectational culinary skills of the team at Mughal Clay. Once again, a big thanks to Deeb for his amazing service and I cannot stress how much I recommend Mughal Clay- it is certainly worth the visit.

I wouldn’t recommend this Indian restaurant…
1: It’s Expensive, especially when you only receive four small prawns in a Vindaloo & Jalfrezi (€17 per dish).
2: Disorganised Service, a waiter rushing over with a bag of frozen prawns whilst we had to wait around 45mins for our main course wasn’t a confidence builder!
(It then came as no surprise that both our prawn dishes hardly contained any moments later as they had obviously run out in the kitchen. The waiter did ask if everything was ok with the meal and I then explained how shocked we were at the portion sizes!).
Oh, apart from my fathers tandoori grill…which did look rather substantial, albeit said ‘some of it is very tough to chew!’. Chicken Tikka Masala was also a disappointment, thigh meat? Just poor quality ingredients.
3: Bland flavours in the sauces which all tasted the same. Jalfrezi, Masala & Vindaloo should all have contrasting flavours surely? No, not here, they all looked and tasted identical! The three stooges sprung to mind!
This restaurant was actually so bad its now put us off dining around the marina in future. Certainly our most disappointing meal of the holiday.
By the end they obviously detected our dissatisfaction as we left over half of the food. And remember there wasn’t that much to begin with! That all said, they did have the decency to take the prawn vindaloo off the bill.
Still €100 for poor quality food and sketchy service left a bitter taste.
I always tip, but sadly on this occasion I just couldn’t which made it a really flat evening. So flat I’m now in bed at the villa writing this review and thinking about eating the cheese and ham roll from the fridge which was left over from lunch time!
This experience has put us off dining around the Marina in future. I think there is far better value away from the tourist traps. Better to order a cheap Uber / Taxi to an eatery that doesn’t rely on footfall. The best of these examples we enjoyed was ‘Sol e Mar’ in Quarteira - simply sublime fresh seafood with great attentive waiters.
Unlike this Indian, we will definitely be going for Sun and Sea again!
Now where’s that fridge?…

A group of 7 of us dined here on Friday evening. The food was amazing, the best prawn bhuna we’ve ever had! The food was so flavourful and light and the service was excellent. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you so much to Jesse and Amid, they were so friendly, accommodating, polite - and patient with 7 crazy/indecisive ladies! They even charged my phone for me - thank you! Highly recommend dining here 🙂

I was looking to order a takeout for my family at lunchtime.
I was politely received and placed my food request, the staff member offered me water while I waited and took time to ask me about my vacation.
The biriani myself and family had later was flavoured nicely with their special mixed style of different spices.
I would definitely visit the restaurant again.

After reading reviews on this restaurant I decided to try myself… we were definitely not disappointed. It’s set just off the main marina but on entering the restaurant I can say it was so rustic like, very inviting, clean and very welcoming. The waiter for the meal was so polite and friendly. The food and wine were delicious. I must honestly say I enjoyed this meal and setting as much as any restaurant on the marina at over double the price. I most definitely recommend this Indian restaurant if you visit Villamoura for service, cleanliness , value for money and quality of food. Thank you.

Myself and my friends visited her 2 weeks ago. It is slightly up from Vilamoura Marina on the way to the front street. What a beautiful quaint restaurant. The staff were so helpful, friendly and nothing was too much. The food was absolutely gorgeous. We got 4 starters, 3 mains, 3 sides, 4 drinks (including a half bottle of wine 😉) and it was €100 so very reasonable considering it's location. Thank you so much if we are back in Vilamoura we will definitely be back 😊

The restaurant has plenty of air conditioned tables, so you never felt like you were sat on someone else’s table. The service was attentive and quick but best of all was the food. It was excellent.
Poppadoms, onion bhajis and the chicken pakora to start, followed by tandoori chicken, chicken korma and chicken tikka masala, which was the clear winner with all three of us. Beautifully cooked meat and the sauce was to die for!
Price wise too, it was very very reasonable.
Our favourite restaurant during our stay.

Best meal so far on our week in Villamoura , quality, taste wise and value wise. Very polite, good hunoured and helpful staff. Great quality food.
Starters, mains, sides, drinks- €53 for 2 people..we paid €80 for 2 mains, 2 chips and 2 beers elsewhere in the marina the night previous.
Fantastic value here.
