Incredible Pathia tonight. That’s the the best pathia I’ve ever had , and I’ve had a lot. The lamb rezala was a perfect accompaniment bring slightly milder but still full of great flavour. The naan breads were so fresh , literally from oven to table in seconds. The service was superb, very attentive and made us feel very welcome indeed. Lovely vibe in the restaurant, felt very comfortable there. Believe me. Incredible food, superb service and lovely surroundings. Go check this little gem of a place out. Exceptional absolutely exceptional

Wow! Absolutely amazing!
We booked here for my husband’s birthday on a recommendation from a family member (I’d never heard of it) but decided to give it a go. What can I say! The restaurant staff were so attentive and nothing was a problem for them they were on the ball with every little thing. The food ….mmmmmm this has to be one of the best India meals I have ever eaten!! The food was freshly made and so so tasty!
What i thought was a lovely touch they noticed it was my husband’s birthday , brought him a birthday cake and sang happy birthday! This was something they did of their own back. My husband was bright red but secretly enjoyed the limelight hahaha
Thank you Babaji for an amazing night….we will 100000% be back.

Booked in for family birthday, wonderful friendly greeting, service was superb and the food and curries were the best ive ever tasted!
We were there unrushed for nearly 2 hours and when we got the food & drinks bill it was so reasonable!
Can not recommend Babaji enough, a great new top quality restaurant in sunderland!
Cant wait to go back 10/10

Great food at a great price. We had a set meal for ÂŁ15 each which included rice. Everything was cooked to perfection and we received a very warm welcome from the proprietor. The waiting staff were friendly too. We would definitely recommend to others.

It was a special birthday meal and all the staff were very attentive. The food was amazing, great quality and plenty of choice. The staff organised a small cake and candle and we all sang happy birthday to my partner which made him feel very special. Highly recommend the food and service.

Lovely dinner with huge portions of extremely tasty food. Prices are spot on and everything was better than you normally get at Indian restaurants. They made us feel very welcome as service was top notch. So pleased to get nice few vegan options on both starters and mains. I hope they get a vegan red wine also for the future although not a deal breaker for me as everything else was perfect. We are big fans of Tadka dahl and Babajis House Dahl was absolutely outstanding. My partner thought it was the best one in Sunderland although we've had some other delicious ones as well here.

Amazing food, great cocktails, and 10/10 service! We loved the 2 course meal deal and the portion sizes were very decent. Overall, we had a lovely evening - it was my partner's first trip to Sunderland so I'm really happy I brought him here. After the meal I also bought my parents a gift voucher so they could experience Babaji too :D

We planned and booked to have our Christmas Day lunch at Babajai we had been looking to visit since it opened and were hugely looking forward to our visit especially seeing the many great reviews we were looked after the minute we walked through the door we were offered drinks choosing the draught Cobra an a couple of cocktails all were spot on our food order was taken by Salman who really looked after us he took the time to have a conversation with us too which was really nice, to the food well from the pickle tray to the large and stunning starters to the curry, rice and bread everything was absolutely fantastic really good sized portions beautiful lamb tender and lean nicely spiced and full of flavour all in all a really excellent visit, and it looks like we’ve found our new favourite Indian restaurant. Keep up the good work guys. Special thanks to Salman much appreciated !!

There are many good places that serve Indian food in Sunderland. I have to say this is the best I have ever had. The place feels genuinely Indian, the food is 10/10 the service is 10/10. No disrespect to anyone as like I say there are many good places in Sunderland but this is our new number 1.

The best Indian food I've had without question. Great atmosphere, brilliant food and amazing flavour. The staff were warm and welcoming and i couldnt fault anything, would definitely recommend to anyone who loves indian food to try this place.

Another amazing restaurant in the Amin empire!!
Food was authentic and traditional, a real throwback to the "old school" Indian restaurant menus. All dishes were delicious with clean plates all around.
It may have been only the second weekend since opening, but the service was great. Under the brothers' guidance, the staff training is very high, with attentive waiting from them all.
The atmosphere and decor are fresh and modern.
You need to pay this restaurant a visit, you won't be disappointed.

Stunning venue in the heart of Sunderland. Atmosphere was delightful calm but lively and friendly. Salman was incredible knowledgeable and attentive with the best personality couldn't have asked for better service.
The food speaks for itself fantastic price but quality was incredible!! I have miss traditional curries since leaving Bradford and they have taken me back to beautiful memories.
The set menu was a hit with us but the menu had a full range of delightful curry's to suit everyone's taste.
We will be back!!

Visited for the first time tonight - nothing was too much trouble (adapted the menu for us) food was beautiful and I had the best cocktail I’ve ever had - made by Sohel ( special not in menu !) wow!! Lovely restaurant, Sohel couldn’t have been nicer- will 100% be back !

5 of us went out for a family meal at Babaji cos I told everyone it is the best Indian in Sunderland and the food, service and atmosphere proved me right. Starters and main courses were just perfect and the service from Salman and his team was spot on. Absolutely stuffed but looking forward to the next time we visit.

This place is absolutely outstanding, can fully understand why it gets so busy. Usually trot down to Ocean Rd in South Shields for our curry fix but Babaji eclipses them all. The food was absolutely outstanding, my son described it as “the spices were lovingly massaged into the sauce”.
Can’t say much else, blown away by how good the food was.
