Great food, greater staff make this a not to miss!

Had dinner last night outside. Loved the banter we had with our waitress/manageress who stopped and had a chat and laugh with us when she had time. That made it a top night and the food was spectacular to go with that! Nothing was a bother even when place got full and staff were very busy. Going to try and go back tonight!

Brilliant! Don’t believe the posy critics!

Absolutely brilliant! Excellent food, well served & beautifully cooked. All at a price that you won’t believe. My only criticism is that you have to spot the blackboard with the wine list but once spotted, it may be a small list but they are all brilliant wines. I would suggest booking, which we did, as it gets very busy. If we’re ever in Foix again, it’s a definite re-visit.

Creative young team succeeds

The dinner I chose was delicious. I thought the menu was creative. The room was bright and fresh, a welcome contrast to the dark, brown interiors of so many traditional cafes and restaurants.

Reasonable Prices but not very original

We had dinner there with friends. It was extremely hot outside but we ate outside anyway. We chose the menu which may not have been the best choice. The soup was very warm, a mix of carrots and other veggies. It could have been more seasoned with cumin and other spices to make it more creative. Other diners had salads which looked fine, but not super creative. For the main course, most of our table had the chicken curry dish, served with rice. I had the vegetarian plate which included french fries (I wish I had swapped those out), a goat cheese nem (a good rendition), sauteed carrots. It was good but again, not super creative. I wish they had had the salmon tartare but they had run out. My take is that the Chaplin menu is ok, but not much better than that. Order a la carte instead. Overall, good food but not very creative.

We are in Foix for our second go-round at the wonderful French Immersion school called “Valorme”. We have visited so many restaurants here that are fairly good but not memorable. Et Pourquoi Pas is so good that I wanted to give them a special review. The chef did a marvelous job with my three course “surprise” menu this quiet Sunday afternoon. It was beautifully presented and delicious. This is one of the few places that has inspired me to return. Kudos!

We had a lovely dinner here! Boeuf (filet mignon) was perfect, the fish of the day was a wonderfully prepared salmon, and our friends had the chicken with a lovely creamy coconut milk(?) and ginger sauce, and a wonderful appetizer plate of gazpacho, bruschetta, and a layered tomato/creme fresh/ricotta/chive offering. Wow. Then came dessert.... chocolate mousse with a caramel bottom layer on top of a liquid chocolate layer. Double wow. The service was great. The woman who seemed like the proprietor treated us like royalty especially after learning that it was our anniversary. Such a pleasant evening. Highly recommended, and the best dinner we had in Foix!

Arrived at 5 people at 14:00 we had an excellent welcome despite other refusals in other food points. The dishes were served quickly. Good food and hearty dishes. Award is more than correct. Simple, but good dishes. A simple menu, based on fresh produce. It's quick, good, and served in a good atmosphere by the mother and daughter (who I think will help in the dining room during the holidays). Choose for a quick lunch or dinner in the heart of Foix (around €30/person with 1 glass of wine). If you like dark chocolate, I recommend finishing your meal with the chocolate brownie.
