My husband and I were searching for a restaurant that he had visited about 20 years ago in this upscale, cute beach town just outside of Pisa, Italy, close to Marina di Pisa, called Dante e Ivana. The new owner, Andrea, renamed the restaurant to Nautilus Restaurant and is outstanding. As a sommelier and professor at the wine university in Pisa, his passion for fine food, wine and creating a delicious and wonderfully memorable dining experience made for an enchanting and taste-bud tantalizing evening. The first dish was a delicious soup, done so well that even the most discriminate connoisseur would indulge with envy. I highly recommend the 4-course meal deferring to the chef’s recommendations. Tirrenia, Italy

Strolling by Tuscany, I decided to stop again in Nautilus Restaurant in Tirrenia. Andrea and his staff confirmed my expectations: the cuisine was excellent and the wine selection enhanced every dish. I deeply enjoyed every bite and sip. Also, it has a good balance of price and quality. You can see yourself the inviting and accurate plates prepared for us. Go for it!

I recommend drinks on back terrace on the sea very nice. Food is OK. House guests always want to go there because its an attractive site. I find it a a little pricey for the area so we only go when we have guests. I noticed when the beach bar a cross from them closed they raised their prices. To be fair I never had a bad meal there, but never a great one either

Andrea

We had a great meal at Nautilus. The food was fresh, perfectly cooked and flavoured. It was a quiet place and not too busy. The only downside to it was that the waiter had misunderstood our order which made our meal twice as expensive. With a group of 8, this was very costly.

We had a great time at Nautilus, Andre is the perfect host, he spent a lot of time talking through the origins of wines and food options from the menu which lead into some great stories from the region. With his knowledge/character and the quality of the food this place is a must to visit if in the area. Courses are quite small and on the fine dining side portion wise but they are of a high quality and the prices are very reasonable, I had 6 courses (1 complimentary for both of us) and my wife had 4 we drank wine with all courses and were in the restaurant 2.5hrs. The bill was around 90euro which was great value for the food and service.

Having visited Tirrenia for many years, and eaten at the same restaurant every time, we decided to try somewhere different and in a street parallel to the main road we noticed a large group of Italians settling into an outside table at a place called Restaurant Nautilus. On the basis that anywhere that the locals like to eat must be good, we grabbed a table for two inside. We then spent a very relaxed couple of hours enjoying the hospitality of Andrea and Alessandro. There was a glass of Prosecco to welcome us and then food and wine recommendations that definitely hit the mark. Came away feeling that we had a top rated experience and will revisit the next time we are in Tirrenia.

We were attracted by the good ratings. As a frequent traveller to Italy I shortly wondered about the casual place, but the menue told me that at this place there is decent knowledge of food an wine to be expected. And we were not disappointed. The proprietor, waiter and sommelier turned out to be a very pleasant person with deep passion for good food and even more good wine. Go for the degustation menue including wines. We started with a methode traditionell growing over 1000 m at mount Blanc and went through more special wine regions. The four course meal was very nicely composed and enjoyable until the dessert.

Not our first visit. A host and sommelier who entertains, educates and has passion for unique wines (so many to enjoy) A chef whose creativity and skills enabled him to just whip out a few items for us that were not on the menu, such as giant prawns on a bed of champagne braised onions and perfectly seasoned and simple fresh pasta dish with a fish and tomato ragu. Each visit last 2-3 hours and it feels like 30 minutes. I think there are only about 20 seats so don't be disappointed if they are full, wait a little and try them out.

A tiny restaurant you would walk right by. One of the most competent sommeliers I have ever met coupled with a chef whose passion for food and unique culinary techniques is palpable. Both sommelier and chef present the wine and food with deep love and respect for the earth and its products. The wine collection alone is worth the visit. Memorable evening to be repeated. Don't miss this place...

What a surprise folks! "Nautilus" is a restaurant run by a very talented Chef and a very competent Sommelier. This combination is a lucky strike for perfect matches between food and wines...that's all. I got there for a dinner with a combined Spanish wine degustation and explanation made by the famous winemaker Roberto Cipresso. We started with some tapas of prosciutto and ricotta, pancetta with truffle olive oil and crumbled egg combined with a Cava sparkling wine, nice taste and very well presented! The first dish was "pici" with a reduction of red wine sauce wich was a perfect combination with the "Ribera del Duero" red wine. The second course was a pork fillet with a Pedro Ximenez and Marsala reduction, quite fine taste and perfect combination with a surprisingly powerful Pagos del Valcerracin wine. Final with chocolate truffles and 30 years old Pedro Ximenez sweet wine. All wines were explained by the sommelier Andrea with great competence. Definitely worth the 55€ paid for the dinner.

I have been with twice here: once with my cousin and once with some friends. It is a cozy, elegant place. I had the chance to meet the chef and he is a nice and funny guy who cooks in a particular and intriguing way. The maitre is a sommelier who has a huge experience in French and Tuscany wines; he knows a lot of stories related to famous wine companies (Tenuta San Guido, Marchese Guido Antinori..) and the origin of famous wines. The maitre doesn't know perfectly English but after a while you speak with him, he comes at ease with the language and he can tell you everything about your wine and food! He makes you feel at ease even though the location looks a bit "fancy". I would totally recommend this place, not only for elegant dinner but even for familiar events. It is not a big place so it is better to book before going!

Not recommended! Zero cleanliness, poor food, cold place. There is no positive note. How is such a high rating possible! One of the worst restaurants I've eaten in!
