Maguy has run this restaurant for years, serving delicious food, best grilled calamari ever!!! In a quiet and simple setting, overlooking the sea. Just perfect!!
To start with the location, it’s right on the beach. it has a beautiful view. The decoration is very nice, colorful. But it needs a lot of renovation. The food wasn’t good at all. We were around 12 people, we only liked the fried fish....Hammos wasn’t good at all, fattoush and tabbouleh too. All the appetizers too. I don’t really recommend it. The service was good , food wasn’t good and we only like the view.More
Lovely location. Simplistic decor. Good ambience with groups having fun. However, it is stunningly expensive for what it is. We have never had to pay anything like it for simple grilled fish and fries - not even for top restaurants in Beirut! We were shocked...by the price. Also, the waiter never brought us our change. I presume that he assumed that we would leave it as a tip ( which we would have done) but it seemed a bit "off" not to bring it back to the table, even if only as a gesture...... I'm afraid we were left with a rather bitter after-taste as a result.More
Super bad service , they just decided to triple their prices without even printing on their menu , the waiter actually guessed the prices of the dishes and on top of it all the plates are dirty so are the cutlery , tables have food...stains from previous customers . And their response was it’s all ok we will clean it ,nothing bad ... highly not recommended and def never again . Keep up the nasty serviceMore
Super catastrophique evrything is dirty all photos is photoshop bad bad oil taste in every dish quantity désastre 7 pieces shrimp for 50000 L dollar rate for 12000 L service is désastre too very bad experience 0/20
worst place to go for lunch. waiter are not wearing masks, kitchen is dirty. we ordered fish , and it return to be fried in a 50, 000 km oil . grilled fish were not grilled. even the lebanese fattouch and tabboule lacks tabboule and...fattouch 😀. i used the calamar to repair the tire of my wheel. best caoutchouc in town very expensive for nothing one advice: please dont even think of eating thereMore
The service is bad. Food takes time to come. The prices are not worth the food . The food doesn’t have salt and doesn’t taste good. The fish had a smell and pink colored and raw And food takes long time yo come. We ordered...small fish we waited 40 mins and it never came. I don’t advise anyone to come to this restaurant !!More
The worst place ever! The owner is a thief and I mean it... I was with my friend we asked for the menu. On the menu they wrote the prices so according to the prices we decided to order half of a kg of sultan...Ibrahim (on the menu 1kg was for 95000ll so half of a kg should be 47500ll)so based on our budget we decided to order half of a kg. We went to the kitchen (will talk about the kitchen later on) to see the fish We ordered the half of a kg, one fattouch, one small plate of octopus and 2 pepsi. The bill came 134 000 ll for the half of kg of sultan they wrote on the bill 97000ll. We called the waiter (btw there was 3 waiters one lebanese girl and 2 syrians one of these syrians was I bet not older than 11 years old isnt that child abuse?! Is it legal to make an 11 year old baby hold trays full of plates??) so the girl came and she said she s going to ask Maguy the owner and she came back to us and said yes the bill is correct nothing wrong with it. So I said how is that you are making us pay for half kg of sultan the price of 1 kg (i donno about you readers but honestly in the actual circumstances yes I calculate everything before ordering coz we all knw the financial situation of the Lebanese economy...) anyway one of the syrians waiter came and told me yes we are doubling the prices no one told you? I said how can u do that without even mentioning it at the beggining or changing the prices on the menu? So he left and the famous Maguy came!! I have never seen a restaurant owner as impolite as her... She came so angry she threw the bill that was in a box on the table and said: "na3am whats wrong? I said we paid double the price indicated on the menu she said yes so what? I said what its illegal! She said u went to the kitchen and the prices were indicated on the fish (so not true! It wasnt indicated) i said no its not true! She said its like that if you dont like it go and tchakko (meaning go and fill a complaint) I said what of course I will i will call the consumer protection department (مصلحة حماية المستهلك) and the famous Maguy had the guts to say :"yes all of the you say that but none of u do anything" (كلكن بتقولو هيك وبتهددوني وما حدا بيعمل شي)which clearly means she s used to rob her customers and she started yelling I said to her you knw what you re doing is illegal right she said leave if u dnt like it and she started shouting and the guy working in the kitchen went out and yelled at us and said when he heard us saying we will complain to the ministry of economy he said I wrk there so you cant do anything to us!!!! So if you want to eat in a place where u will get robbed, yelled at and treated in the most unprofessional way be my guest... VISIT CHEZ MAGUY.... Did I mention I have a phd in food science? And when I went to the kitchen the man cooking had his mask under his noise with no gloves? And when We told him he should put the mask in the correct way and put gloves he said "I just removed the gloves and will put another pair" .. The fish that we paid even more than its double price was à la limite burned.... And the cleanliness of the kitchen was of an average scale... So Again to have corona, (maybe E coli, salmonella...) and get robbed go visit Maguy!!!More
Will keep this simple: 1. Worst service I have ever experienced anywhere in my lifetime (and I’m not exaggerating) 2. Owner is this old super rude lady ( Maguy) that is rude, crude and intolerable. A level of a person you do not want to...deal or be close to: foul mouth and no respect for her visitors. 3. Dishonest: when I chose a fish, Maguy wouldn’t accept to weigh it for me saying it approx 2kg and she’s too busy. At final bill it was 2.9kg. The price on that fish was LL185,000/KG, when I contested it, she had another sign on the same fish for LL250,000/Kg. 4. The WC’s stink and are not hygienic 5. The food is one notch below average, at best 6. The place itself is a very old shack that isn’t very stable, colored in blue with some nice accessories which you can buy in any flee market. When we sat at the table inside, there was water pouring from the roof down the windows. We were told it’s a broken jacuzzi. I think otherwise but I will keep that to my self. 7. the best surprise was the bill at LL1.3million for a very very mediocre meal, and horrible experience (for Lebanese , that’s $850, for people visiting that’s around $200 as the back market exchange gives you a better rate). Please do yourself a huge favor and do not go there. Batroun has many other nice places to visit, and this is most certainly not one of them. Good riddance!More
We arrived very late in Batroun this november evening. The place looks nice but we should have known it from the bad smell of the kitchen. Though dicided to eat there because everything was closed. Briefly the starters were okay, but everything was ‘difficult’. The...fresh octopus as a main smelled (and tasted) rotten. I was just in time (the octopus wasn’t!) Afraid there are fewer clients because of current Libanese situation, but this shouldn’t happen.More
Went there after skiing in Faraya, which depicts the beauty of Lebanon. People there are friendly and nice. The place as I said in the title is very cool with a spectacular view and a nice view right next to the Phoenecian wall. The place’s...setting is also cozy and nice.More
The place is nice and run by the family. Food is decent (I would say average nothing spectacular). The bill was way too high they set an estimate weight for the fish taken which is far from being what was actually taken. When asked for...details to read the incomprehensible bill the woman was agressive. Wouldn't recommend it.More
Been coming back to Chez Maguy for years well before she became a celebrity. Although the downhill trajectory started years ago, I kept giving the place the benefit of the doubt hoping that she will eventually up her game. Heals! to my chagrin this last...visit killed it for me. Nothing was eatable. Dry Tabouleh, soggy fries, fish fried by ancient oil with horrible after taste, need I say more. The setting remains beautiful especially for sun set, I will stick to a beer with peanuts next time.More
Perfect food, perfect atmosphere, super welcoming , feel at home, fresh seafood in town , welcome to Lebanon and Batroun
