This is a lovely pub family friendly great when there a couple of weeks ago.the staff are friendly this is a great clean pub. If you are in Weymouth worth popping in this pub. Prices are good and nice.loved my visit definitely visit again
We have just had the best weekend away thanks to The Black Dog, absolutely top service the staff could not do enough for us, during these times they deserve to be credited for what they do
The drinks and food can’t be faulted just a...great great pub
Special thanks to the team behind the bar on Friday night what fantastic energy and professionally handledMore
Despite making a booking i was informed that me and my wife weren't welcome, because my wife was wearing football colours. I tired to inform the manager that we were looking for a bite to eat and a quick soft drink before leaving for the...game. However was then escorted outside the pub by their 'bouncers'. I strongly recommend anybody looking for a friendly and nice experience stays clear from the 'black dog in weymouth'!More
We came to the Black Dog as it was my late husband’s favourite Weymouth pub and we always enjoyed our visits there. It was the anniversary of my husband’s death and my family (2 households) of 10 wanted to raise a glass in his memory....We got 2 tables outside but were informed they wouldn’t serve us as we were more than 6 people. We assured them we wouldn’t move from table to table and COVID rules were not being broken. We also were only going to be there for 30 minutes. He checked with management who still said no. I left there in tears I was so upset. However we went to another bar Vinolo on the Quay side. Wonderful service and a lovely manager. Thank you Vinolo you made us all happy.More

This review was very upsetting to read and I can only put it down to a miscommunication between staff and management. Our policy at The Black Dog during the restrictions was that we would not admit groups of larger than 6 and split...More
Not many of these proper pubs around anymore, great service both quick and friendly.
Group of 6 of us had a spot on lunch and best pint of real ale the whole day
Top place really clean you can tell the owners care, staff really...on top of stuff
The wives enjoyed their gin and sandwiches and us guys enjoyed our grub and ale no complaints at all great stuffMore
We received a lovely warm welcome from entering and the quickest service we’d had all week. The staff were very on top of covid cleaning and ensuring everyone was wearing masks which was refreshing to see. I had Scampi and my partner had the Ploughman’s...which was beautifully presented and tasted very yummy!
After reading below reviews me and my husband personally think it made us feel more safe knowing they’re so on top of things Covid wise if people don’t like it don’t worry Black Dog team
We think you’re doing great, would love it to be our local and will definitely be back, keep up the good work allMore
What a disgusting place to go for a drink we were 5 couples the men went in first, when we arrived we were told we could not sit inside in case we caused trouble with our husbands. The staff were so rude, the prices were...more than any pub we had been in. The management need to check on there staff. We understand covid restrictions. The young boy was especially rude. Will not go there again and would tell people about the way we were treated.More
Arrived at the black dog today and was absolutely appalled buy the welcome we received- our partners were already in the bar and when we arrived we were basically told that we were not allowed to sit inside on another table away from the boys...due to the potential of us talking across tables! We ladies were made to sit outside on 2 separate tables despite us only being a group of 5! The attitude of the staff was terrible which was a pity due to visiting the dog many times over the years and always recieved good service! Prices have also increased and we're the most expensive round of the day despite being in various pubs and clubs around the harbour and the town! We agree with the Covid restrictions and adhere to them in every setting, but they took them to the extreme!More
Lovely traditional pub, looks small from outside but really spacious.
Was told to go here by an old mate who used to go here when he was in the navy and so pleased we did. It’s got a lot of character. Nice warm welcome and...all COVID measures in place to make you feel protected during this time. Didn’t have anything to eat, so can’t comment on the food.More
