Although we regularly go to the Monkey I’m writing this review as a thank you for the excellent meal we enjoyed yesterday. Having eaten recently at several far more expensive places recently the Monkey served better quality food, which was cheaper and with friendlier staff. The muscles were amazing and the gambas out of this world. Thanks guys

A friend and I met up for Sunday lunch here. We both chose roast beef and were disappointed that the beef was machine cut into tough thin slices - probably bought in. The rest of the meal was lovely. Service was excellent, as always.

Being our local, we took visiting friends here for dinner. There was live music, so it was a bit difficult to talk. We shared Olives, Pork Crackling and Whitebait to start. To follow two of us chose the special of whole Brill which was delicious though not cheap at £25. The others enjoyed the special of Sea Bass and a West Country Beef Burger. Service was excellent, as it always is there. We’ll be back soon,

Been to Lymington and the surrounding areas quite a few times but didn't know about the Monkey Brewhouse until we drove past, ended going two nights running. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the place had a lovely atmosphere . We had the same dishes both nights. I had Portugese Fish Stew and my husband Prawn Curry they were both superb, Served piping hot and full of flavour. We will definitely return on our next visit.

My husband and I have just returned home after a delicious Sunday Roast . The beef was tender and tasty , the vegetable medley cooked to perfection and the cauliflower cheese side dish was superb , very cheesy ( the best that either of us have tasted ) All of the girls waiting on table were very cheerful and friendly and happy to cater for my request for a children’s portion of the roast . I am recovering from illness and have only a bird’s appetite . I have asked for a child’s portion in other establishments and been made to feel very awkward - but not here . The whole experience was very enjoyable and we will definitely be returning

The staff were nice and the pub itself has lovely outdoor seating (which also has heating when needed) and the inside had different spots so would imagine wouldn't get too loud out there. The staff were nice and did check in on us a few times but without being too invasive. My friend had a burger which was really tasty. I ordered the fig and blue cheese salad and although the ingredients were nice, there was one fig (cut into 4) that was over ripe and only a little blue cheese. Definitely could have done with more cheese and figs that were in better shape. The churros were nice and came with a few bits of fruit, but felt that there was too much sugar on them. I would still come back as it was a good experience with a nice atmosphere.

Sunday roast, never again. The beef was curling up at the edges, very chewy, and pretty tasteless, the vegetables were over cooked badly, just thrown in one heap in one bowl, tasteless mangetout, green beans, carrots, peas very poor presentation, and as for the anaemic looking supposedly roast potatoes, they were tiny, and rock hard, but the worst was the gravy, it was burnt beyond being edible, absolutely disgusting, and when we told the employee that it was and could she get the chef to taste it, we heard nothing more.no apology, nothing. The next table were served minutes later though with a far lighter looking gravy. Upon telephoning them this morning to complain, we were given a refund for the meal. Do not let shoddy service like this be paid for, the chef need to stop poncing around with silly presentation photos for the website and get his gravy sorted out, and start tasting occasionally during service what he is expecting people to eat. THANKYOU FOR THE REFUND.

Arrived on a busy Sunday without a booking and had no trouble at all squeezing us in to the warm garden area even though most tables had a reservation. Roast dinner (beef and belly pork) was amazing and the portions sizes were really generous. All staff were very so attentive and couldn’t do enough to ensure we were looked after. A great pub and a really relaxed atmosphere. Ps the kids choices were good and also really food portion sizes

Front of house staff always excellent but major praise to Head Chef Mark creating the every day menu but far more impressive the daily changing specials board. For a small birthday celebration on the 18th we had the pleasure of perfectly cooked and presented skate in an amazing sauce. A previous visit provided excellent sea bass on a vegetable broth, what a refreshing creative each day change. Food at the Monkey remains the go to place in Lymington, and we have tried most of the others, highly recommended.

Booked a last minute night at the brewhouse before sailing across to the island. Our room was compact and cosy, really comfortable and the bathroom was modern. All the team members we encountered in the evening were friendly and accommodating, seating us for dinner in the bar earlier when we asked. I couldn’t fault them. We had to wait to order food for a little while as the kitchen was really busy but we didn’t mind, and had appetisers while we waited. Our dinners were really delicious when they arrived. The only small feedback was about breakfast the next morning. There wasn’t a breakfast menu to look at but we got the gist of what was available. I had the cooked breakfast and my issue was that there wasn’t any bread options, just sourdough available, which didn’t really work for my partners sausage sandwich. And there was no option to have eggs any other way than fried, if there’s was it wasn’t offered. The breakfast was good, but the fried egg was overdone. The breakfast lady while nice and polite didn’t really make much of an effort either. Even so, I would definitely book to stay here again for the night.

It was a recommendation from the owner of the air B&B we stayed at in Lymington. It was a 12 min walk or 3 minute drive from our central location. The atmosphere was friendly as were the staff and the food was excellent with a variety of choice to suit everyone at a very high quality. The wine was reasonably priced at this can hike up the price a lot at most places. We will definitely return.

The nicest Sunday lunch we've had in a long time. The service was excellent, we came with our young daughter and without asking the staff got her food out with our starters, tap water brought to the table again without asking. The food was delicious, excellent bar menu – can't wait to go back soon.

We ate here during a recent stay in Lymington. When we were seated, and had placed our order, our waitress informed us that there was a delay in getting food out of the kitchen. Knowing this, it was not an issue. It became even less, when after a short while, a complimentary starter (we hadn't ordered one) was brought to us. On several occasions, our waitress kept us up to date with things. When our food did arrive, after about 50 minutes, it was very hot, tasty and the empty plates said it all. Had we not been informed regularly it may have made a difference but happily this was not the case. I highly recommend the Monkey Brewhouse, both for a good, value for money meal, and also for good service

my hubby and I visited yesterday, thought the service was pretty slow even though there were staff members stood around not doing a lot. although friendly enough. the food did take longer than expected, my hubby had fish and chips which he said was pretty average , I had the venison burger with added bacon it was very nice. for two meals and two pints it came to just shy off ÂŁ40 which in my opinion was a little pricey for what we got but expected I suppose because of the pubs location.

We went for a family Birthday meal, and from start to finish the service was excellent I had the chicken satay to start which was lovely, then the Indonesian fish curry which was full of flavour. The choice of beers is another plus for this restaurant. The only negative was the sweet menu which I found to be extremely poor only 4 items on menu plus new forest ice cream, so did not bother with sweet other than the poor choices for sweet the whole experience was 1st class .
