As soon as I spotted this place, I knew I had to try it, and I wasn't disappointed. Simple but very delicious Italian food. Great ambiance and friendly staff, too. I had a simple chicken Ceasar salad and a cappuccino.

Ciao 310neilf. Thank you for the nice feedback. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay and are looking forward to see you again. Saluti, Ihr L'Osteria Team
Been here before a couple of times but did notice that this time there was a marked decline in both service and the quality of food. This is a pity as the ambiance is still nice and it's in a good location. Moreover, a night...out here is still good value! These positives are why I gave it 3 stars and not for what is important which is pleasant food and being made to feel like they appreciate you coming, both which were lacking this time. Best stick to the pizzas here.More

The restaurant was extremely busy when we visited but we were swiftly shown to our table as we had made a booking. That was probably the best part of the experience!! Starters arrived before drinks, food was bland, service overall was very slow, customers collecting...take away seemed to be prioritised. Staff seemed quite friendly but they were too busy so were not attentive to guests. I had read some positive reviews before booking but my disappointment at our experience means I would not recommend this restaurant.More

I recently went to the l'osteria with my best friend, on Valentine's/Galantine's day. I have been to the l'osteria a few times before and always liked the food and thought it tasted good. But last week, when I went there again with my date, I...ordered bruschetta and the bread was way too hard already and not enjoyable anymore. The spaghetti aglio e olio I had ordered, topped the whole thing. I know how to cook spaghetti aglio e olio because first of all, it's not that difficult and second of all I've been to Italy often and therefore know how it's cooked the best. But THIS was unbelievable. The Spaghetti aglio e olio were horrible. Firstly, it wasn't that visually appealing as there were just spaghetti and a few big sliced little tomatoes. No basil or other herbs or spices. And there was more oil than spaghetti there. No garlic at all although aglio means garlic. It actually looked like as if my 3 year old nephew had cooked it (no front to my cute nephew here though!). But that wasn't that important to me, because it should rather taste good than look good. But what really disappointed me was the actual taste. It tasted boring, even a bit revolting and glancing at it after having eaten a bit, it disgusted me. I didn't eat much of it. You could literally say it was an oil soup with a few spaghetti in it and a few tomatoes. I actually was really disappointed and angry afterwards. I used to like the l'osteria, but after this I'm sure I won't visit it again. I also heard someone at the neighbour's table ask for a second plate because she shared the pizza with the other woman sitting opposite of her. She politely asked to get a second plate for them because they cut the pizza into two halfs. The waitress very rudely and impolitely asked her who the hell she thought she was in order to ask such a question (it's a normal and polite question though!). So yeah, after all I had a bad experience and after noticing the rudeness of the waitress I'm two times more sure I won't go there again.More

Had to sit at bar as was fully booked so would advise booking in advance. Food was really good. Only reason a 4 and not a 5 was the bar service was slow and that’s where we had to order our food from.
Ciao Amanda C. Thank you for your Feedback. We're working daily at our performance, so that we can be faster for our guests. We hope to see you soon and to get the chance to show you our improvement. Best regards, Your L'Osteria Team
I have never written any bad reviews in recent times but this restaurant really gets on my nerves, violates my patience, exhausts my stamina and dampens my mood throughout the whole vacation! We came in the restaurant without any greeting. After waiting for few minutes,...we finally got the table. It supposedly turned out that we would have a great dinner after a tired traveling day, but NO, after 2 plates of pasta, it took us nearly 50 minutes to wait disagreeably for only one Pizza. No explanation, apology for long waiting had been heard actively from the waiters or waitresses. We noticed that lots of customers who arrived after us got their served pizza’s. And finally, our pizza landed at the table without being divided. To add more, no salt, pepper, olive oil were served at the table. We always had to ask for their services continuously, somehow we thought that we were at their mercy for food and drinks. The food was moderately okay. However, things got worse when we noticed that we were all the times glanced by the guys who worked at the kitchen, the waiter, 2 lady waitresses and even the manager. How on earth can you come in a restaurant in the heart of Salzburg and get glanced by all the staffs who were currently showing their friendliness towards customers? Is it only because we are Asian or put under their superiority? Later, I asked for a small Fanta from a waitress (in the picture), she said yes and I waited for 20 mins, no drink had been served. Immediately I asked again from another lady at the bar. She replied to me by a rude voice and left without looking back. Guess what? I did not get my Fanta as a consequence. Then I saw she moved to serve the beer for another group of guests. I wonder if they were really working in the gastronomical industry. No customer service, no gratitude, no respect for customers and even the ability to listen had been lacked from those two ladies. And I finally think that they just consciously wanted to ignore us. Last but not least, when we decided to pay the bill, we waved and waited patiently because we saw that they had to greet lots of new customers. But in return, they ignored us and especially the manager, after being called, he moved to other tables to collect dishes, order drinks, etc without paying attention to our table although we just called him 2 mins ago and he did reply: “Please wait”. How long did we need to wait? 10 mins, 30 mins or 1 hour for the bill? And the final thing that freaked me out was that they DID NOT ACCEPT CARD. They did not mention in advance when we first came in, no announcement was placed outside the restaurant and I did notice some customers before could pay with cards (I am not sure about this so I am not gonna blame about this). The guy did apologise for it but in a very contemptuous voice. I left the restaurant with anger but felt relieved afterwards. Never come to this restaurant again. It ruined all my mood and left a flaw in my rapport towards the friendliness and beauty of Salzburg!More

Service wasn’t very good. Was not attentive & hard to find a member of staff. I’d made a reservation also. And I had to wait for 10 minutes by the door, yet they saw other people to tables. And they had no booking. Food was...ok/good. But not very hot.More

An order from L'Osteria in Salzburg was canceled again today. We placed the order almost 3 hours before the desired delivery date. First there was a delay of almost an hour, then L'Osteria Salzburg canceled the order. That's just an absolute impudence and we will...never order from L'Osteria Salzburg or go to the restaurant again. It is clear that there can be slight delays, but if you are not able to meet deadlines and this is no exception, then it is better to leave the order service.More

Went in at 5pm and the place was buzzing. We got a table for two at the back of the restaurant and found the service to be friendly and efficient. The food was nice and fresh. We had pasta dishes but the pizzas looked nice...and really big too. Would recommend booking like most places in Salzburg it's busy between 5 and 6pm.More
This was one of the few places open when I arrived in Salzburg. It was minutes from my hotel so I stopped in. Service was fine food was ehh. I got the small salad, the bruschetta, and the penne. Salad was ok. Bruschetta was not...great, lazily put together and the bread was soggy and not even toasted. The penne had little to no flavor and was too sweet. Ended up needing to put chili pepper oil to give it some flavor. Overall disappointing and not at all authentic or good Italian food. Only go here if it is your last option.More
We were very lucky to stumble across this restaurant. What we will remember is the kindness of the staff. The chef named Gianni's was immaculate! There was also an Italian gentleman who welcomed us and we had a little chat, so very funny and kind...hearted. We had two pizzas which were so large that we had to take some home too!More

We ordered a caprese salad with buffalo mozzarella, yet it was no buffalo and the mozzarella was with no taste at all and very hard. The bruschetta was way too salty, tomatoes too hard, and the gnocchi did not have flavor at all. When we...said this friendly to the ober, he waved it away saying it was the same as always and then walked away very rude. I normally never make a review, but this is by far one of the worst experiences I ever had in an Italian restaurant and I want to make sure no other person will have the same experience we did.More

For about 6 years I have been eating out there, making good memories, enjoying food with friends, work colleagues or family. But I observe a HUGE downgrade of this place (especially in the last 2 years). First, what used to be a delicious pizza, tastes...now flavorless, not that fresh and juicy anymore. The toppings are less, the drinks taste watered down. And trust me: Me and my friends we can taste the difference of the pizza that used to be our favorite. Second, the prizes have gone up (this I can excuse due to the current inflation). However, what’s most disappointing to me is the quality of the staff. Maybe it’s because of the fact that it’s just always waaaay to crowded and packed with guests, there are always people waiting in line, what used to be a vibrant, “italic” experience is now an hectic “fast food feeding”. It’s just loud, the waiters get your order wrong recently way too often or rush you impatiently to decide. Some friends of mine are not eating out there anymore for a while but I gave it another try. And another. And another. Well….now it’s my turn to stop as well. This Sunday I forgot something valuable to me there. I called them twice, the first conversation was awful, barely understood a word of the waiter, he seemed just annoyed. So I called them again later, asking if they found it. They confirmed and told me to pick it up on the same day, but I couldn’t and asked them to hold on to that for 1-2 days. When I went there, everyone just seemed like they KNEW what happened with the lost&found, but nothing was being left behind. Nothing! Coming from a hostel & bar work experience myself this seems very suspicious to me that a well thriving restaurant doesn’t have a lost& found. Anyways, I guess you can get my disappointment. L’osteria used to be different. I used to love being there, even delivered their food for a while with a bike delivery company and enjoyed it. But sorry! It’s not worth spending money there anymore. Bye!More
Extremely unfriendly staff. My family (kids) waited long just to be surpassed by “louder” customers. We will not coming back and cannot recommend it for family with children.
