From the amazing tostadas to the fantastic decontructed dessert this place cleverly blends the modern with the familiar and with such gusto. We had the six course tasting menu - Festival of Mexico and were amazed by the light, zesty and punchy flavours. It was a stunning celebration of Mexican food at its best but using the fabulous food of Iceland and all served by the impeccable Embla Rut. Thanks for a fabulous time. The best Mexican outside Mexico

Came here on a weekend trip to Reykjavík. When we arrived from the outside it looked closed, a lady sat outside told us where to enter. Inside is decorated in an obvious Mexican theme but was very well done and laid out. We had a table just off the bar. We ordered starters, mains and a corona each. The waitresses were very helpful and friendly throughout. The portions were very large but very tasty and typical Mexican, but I think I this was one of my favourite Mexicans I’ve ever had. Re portion size, the waitress did say the nachos could feed 4, she wasn’t wrong ,so if there’s a group of you maybe just get some of them and get stuck in. Needless to say we were all well stuffed by the time we left, highly recommended 👍🏼

At the end of October 2022, three of us went to Tres Locos in Reykjavik for a birthday celebration. Needless to say, the evening was a success. The service was very good and the food was well prepared and tasty.
The restaurants biggest asset is the staff; a wonderful group of people, who work well together. The staff almost floats around the clients, so effortless is the service. A special compliment goes to our waitress Bríet for attentive and personable service.
The restaurant has a good atmosphere and interesting decor, with attention to details. During our meal the background music was an added bonus; upbeat, well known songs, at just the right volume.

The service was very random.
First we ordered drinks and 2 small dishes for sharing (starters) and then we waited for a long time until the waiter came back and asked us if we were ready to order the mains.
Then we got one of the staters to share and were told that the other starter was mot available - still no drinks.
Finally we got the drinks and then we ordered the main courses.
The portions are very small and the menu is quite expensive.
On top of that the service was not good.

Unfortunately I will say this place was one of the most expensive I had while in the city, and the one that lacked in taste. Their guacamole was delicious, apart from that I wasn’t impressed and felt like they don’t really know how to serve Mexican food. If you know what Mexican food is like, let me just tell you you will be disappointed.

Way too expensive. The service was good but that’s it.
I would not go there again and never recommend it.
The main courses were extremely underwhelming and not as expected. The food was bland and nothing you can call Mexican. You’d expect spicy food but it was far from that and way too expensive and overpriced for what you get.
The restaurant was dark and loud.
Overall it was not a good experience.

Was positively surprised by the place decoration, really well made with a lot of details.
I was served really fast by really kind and welcoming staff.
The only negative point was the price… really expensive almost the price of a gastro

Seriously fantastic food served by young, enthusiastic, professional and extremely friendly people. The Fajitas, possibly the best ever. In fact probably the best Mexican food we've ever had. Like all decent food in Reykjavik, it comes at a cost, but this is 100% worth it. Brilliant - well done.

Horrible service and overpriced average food. Went there at nine in the evening after a cinema trip as it was one of a few resaurants open until 23:30. Thr waiter was so unprofessional I have never experienced someone so rude in my life before. The food was so expensive. I had beef fahitas, two red wine glasses and one white wine glass and paid 14.500 ISK just for myself. Will never go there again.

Visited on a weeknight for dinner, we had actually walked by several times and thought it was closed because the blinds were shut - but it was open the whole time! Stepping inside you're surrounded by fun themed decor and almost forget you're in Iceland. Good menu but we were a little disappointed in the quality of the quesadillas which were a bit stodgy and didn't taste as fresh as we'd have liked. Wished we'd gone for the tacos instead. A few vegan options but would like to have seen some protein in these (beans, soy protein etc). Excellent selection of Jarritos flavours. We tried the Tres Locos guacamole which features grapes and pistachio, not our favourite but we were glad to have given it a go! The salsas that came with this were tasty but lacking in spice but that may be a reflection of the Icelandic palate? Our server was Jana, she was an absolute star! She was really attentive, friendly and informative, but not over-bearing. When it came to looking at the dessert menu she remembered I had said I was vegan so she made sure to let me know what options I could have (nothing explicitly vegan on the menu itself but they had a passionfruit sorbet available).

We went to Tres Locos for a surprise birthday celebration for a close friend and boy was it good!
We started the evening with some amazing margaritas, the strawberry-jalapeno margarita was my favourite (yes we tried them all)!
Then we were recommended by our waitress to kick the evening off by sharing a big nachos plate called "Nachos Locos" and wow! She was not kidding when she said it was a sharing size and it hit every tastebud just right.
On to the main course, we decided to share some tacos and tostadas and they did not disappoint..... yummy!
Our waitress was very attentive and I whispered to her that my friend was celebrating her birthday, she said she promised to do something special... a few minutes later there was a cake with a flare arriving at our table!
This could not have been any better.
Tres Locos made my friends birthday so special!
Amazing food, good service, fun music, great vibe and all around an amazing experience!
We will definitely be coming back!

Came here on a Taco Tuesday and it was fantastic. The servings were 2 tacos pr order so 4 tacos pr 2 dishes of the menu. I had the Taco el Pastor (pork neck) and Taco de Pollo (chicken, grapes and pistachios) and they were served with habanero sauce and a sweet sauce on the side. The tacos were absolutely loaded and delicious, and plentyfull, best tacos ive had and ive been all over the world, except Mexico… My server “Sóley” was a delight, with personal recomendations and suggestions, wich i appreciate since im not knowlegdeable with mexican food. If you want a fun Mexican experience in Iceland i couldnt think of a better place!

Service was good, staff was really nice and professional. But the only thing that was tasty was dessert. Tacos were extremely bland, meat was without any taste and tacos overall were 2/10. A little bit overpriced considering what you get. Music was too loud that we had to scream at each other to even hear something.

Trip to Mexico - 6 course dinner. Bit pricey but very tasty! If the food, the shrimp and pork, would have been a bit warmer and there would be one extra course like for example an appetizer the experience would have been 10/10!
The place is very atmospheric and cozy. The lighting is dim and therefore romantic but the music is invigorating so the overall experience was fun!
Would recommend and will revisit!
