The food here is fantastic, and the staff is very friendly. Perfect spot if it's raining (as it usually is in Iceland) or you are in need of a healthy meal as a pick-me-up. It's worth mentioning that the food is not cheap, but I believe it is well worth the price.

We discovered this little gem while hunting for a gluten free crepery ….. it was a very lucky find! I am vegetarian and my husband is gluten free and this cafe catered for both of us. The menu consists of one main meal and one soup choice per day (and half portions were available). There was a wide selection of cakes too. The food was absolutely delicious and fresh. As for the people who worked there, they couldn’t have been more accommodating and friendly without being intrusive. The cafe has such a lovely, relaxed atmosphere thanks to the care of all who work there - they were a really lovely group of people. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place to anyone visiting Reykjavik- our visits here were a definite highlight of our break. Did I mention the cakes were divine …….?

I entered hesitantly both because I was on my own and because expenses in Iceland are higher than I am accustomed to and can easily afford. But I was cold and I was hungry. Tastefully decorated, something about this small restaurant felt like home in the best possible way. I was immediately made to feel welcome by the son of that couple who opened this family-based gem 24 years ago. The desserts looked awesome, but I settled for a bowl of Tibetan lentil soup served with bread (savory herb bread I mistakenly thought I would be able to resist) and sat down to wait to be served. Meanwhile, I took in the energy... warm, peaceful, and inviting. The clientele, all radiant, seemed to know one another, greeting one another and embracing when they left. They also met my eyes and smiled. The fragrance was fabulous and the food, it turned out, divine. I didn't want to leave... and in fact, struck up a conversation with one of the regulars, who invited me to sit down with her. I wish I wasn't leaving tomorrow morning. i would certainly return again... and again... I wholeheartedly recommend!

I have been going to Kaffihusid Gardurinn for 20 years. Very often I have taken my children with me and often I meet friends there for a healthy lunch. It has the best soups and vegetarian/vegan dishes in town. It is family owned, the family eats there themselves which says a lot I feel. No short cuts when it comes to ingredients. The food is simple, healthy and delicious. Everyday there is soup of the day and dish of the day. With the soup you can have homemade spelt bread or a gluten free bread and houmus or butter. They make the houmus themselves and it's the best houmus in town. They have two different kinds of houmus. One is with sundried tomatoes. Delicious both. The cakes are the best one in town too. Organic coffee and if you do not like coffee I recommend having a cake and chai (with soy milk). It's divine.

A small, well located cafe that prepares one homemade dish and one homemade soup per day. The tomato soup was vegan and very flavorful. One of us ordered the half portion which was generous. The soup is served with bread and a small portion of hummus. We returned the next day for the potato hot pot soup. The room is small with only 6-8 tables. There is a glass case at the rear with delicious looking cakes and other treats. The desserts are vegetarian while the soup and entrees are vegan. If you search for delicious vegan meals, give this cafe a try.

The food is not great but it's ok. A bit pricey for what it is tho. I guess it also depends on which dish it is (since every week and day they change menu) and we got not so lucky with a simple chili and rice. The terrace is cozy when it's sunny 😊

Delicious, hearty home made vegan food! Very reasonable prices and huge portions ! Everyday is a different menu, we tried the Caribbean soup ( tastes like the Rastafari Ital stew) very yummy, dahl soup, neat roast, I forgot the name of the other dish we had, but was delicious too! My family tried all the cakes and my favourite was the vegan apple pie . The owner is a very friendly and humble guy , and in one of our visits we saw Bjork there with her daughter! They were sitting behind us . The place attracts a hippiesh crowd as I saw lots of quirky characters there, very lovely vibe!

We visited here to the end of our trip and wish we had been earlier. The food is top notch and prices were very very reasonable indeed. Its a set menu but different each day (starter and main) with a delicious wide selection of vegan cakes.we had a lovely Carribean tomato soup (pictured) and a lightly spiced and fulfilling spinach tart. Lovely simple setting but with a real charm. Really friendly owners and the food is absolute terrific. If you're veggie this a a must visit but I'd recommend to anyone.

Wonderful home cooking in a cute and comfy place. We were warmly greeted and truly enjoyed our dish and soup of the day. The potato stew is simply the best vegan dish I’ve ever had. Highly recommend this place especially for those looking for authentic and healthy/tasty vegan food.

Quick and casual vegetarian dining with new options every day. Vegan and gluten free options are available in their menu items. Check their daily menu on their website as it changes by the day. And don’t you dare forget to finish your meal with a slice of their famous chocolate cake! very awesome

Gardurinn cafe was an amazing experience, especially if you are looking for somewhere safe to eat as a celiac. The menu changes daily so everything was so fresh and the portion sizes were very healthy in size. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a personalize GF or vegetarian cafe.

They serve two different main courses every day. I have eaten there twice and the food is delicious and vegetarian or vegan. The staff is calm and courteous, as is the overall vibe. We had a raw dessert made from ground nuts and blueberries that was outstanding. It gets busy but worth the wait. Pictures of Sri Chinmoy line the walls.

Every week a different menu, every day a different meal and a soup. Come and pick either the meal, the soup or both. Choose the size (small or large), pay and sit down. The rules are simple, the food excellent. It's easy, it's healthy, it's vegan, it's great.

Popped in at 3pm, still serving lunch! The food is delicious with the menu changing daily. Lots of options for homemade cake and a decent cuppa. All round a lovely visit, would go back.
