We booked here without realising it was ran by a Michelin star chef in a 5* hotel. It was apparent that the other people there were either celebrating something like a birthday or engagement, so had a special occasion vibe to the restaurant. The staff were very attentive, friendly and did a fantastic job of creating the 5* experience (open the door for you, put your coat in a locker, push your chair in for you etc.). The deco was modern, tradition and cosy all at the same time. The food were relatively small portions, which you’d expect at these kind of restaurants. It was all about quality rather than quantity, and every mouthful was an absolute delight! For a three course meal and a drink it was £55 GBP each which is very reasonable considering. They provided complimentary brioche bread with salted butter and handmade chocolate with hot drinks. For people that like to eat a lot this was satisfying for us and we were not “too full” nor left hungry.

My husband and I are from New York City, so we have enjoyed fine dining experiences once we could afford them. Tides Restaurant remains one of the most memorable experiences in our short visit to the beautiful country of Iceland. The food preparation was expert, the cuisine was fresh and local, everything was tastefully prepared, beautiful presented, and we took the time to savor every bite. It is not the type of food that you just inhale to fill yourself. What the team at Tides did was an art form, and it was delivered by professional, courteous, kind, warm, and attentive staff. They also did all this while accommodating food allergies. It was a terrific meal and an enjoyable experience. Thank you to the entire team for hosting us for dinner and sharing your art and your kindness with us.

This place was super tricky to find but boy, was it worth it! From the second we set foot in the restaurant, Anna gave us the warmest welcome and a pair of complimentary prosecco flutes to celebrate our special occasion. All the waitstaff were very attentive, polite and friendly and made us feel at ease, with helpful recommendations on portion sizes for our food selection. The food itself was sublime - the meat dishes were to die for and never in my life have I enjoyed vegetables so much! The atmosphere of the restaurant is just as impressive as what they serve and we cannot write this review without mentioning Adam, the incredible bartender! He was so welcoming and knowledgeable when it comes to cocktails and ingredients and put Icelandic twists on our favourite spirits and flavours. One of our new favourite Reykjavik haunts and we will be back!

We had two opportunities to eat this restaurant, once for dinner and the other for breakfast. If you are a vegetarian just don't even bother coming here. There are no vegetarian items on the menu as a main and when we asked about it we were told the chef could grill some zuccinni for us. Obviously vegetarians are an afterthought for this chef unlike other restaurants in the area. If you are a meat eater, the meat choices are a bit weird, with things like pig's neck etc. Since we were staying at the hotel we also ate here for breakfast. We had to ask repeatedly for coffee and never got it. Service was inattentive. Food was okay but nothing exceptional. The avocado toast is worth getting. There are just so many better and cheaper options. Stay away.

Last year I had dinner at Tides and it was a great experience this time I was there for brunch and I think they changed the management or there was clearly something wrong. Having previously enjoyed a delightful dinner, I was eager to see if their brunch. Regrettably, my experience this time around left much to be desired. Let's start with the basics: the clarity of the menu and pricing. It's become somewhat of an industry standard for brunch spots to include beverages, yet it wasn't immediately clear whether they were part of the package here. Opting for a mimosa, and there was an additional cost, proved to be a wise choice as it was indeed delightful. However, a transparent breakdown of beverage prices on the menu would have prevented any confusion. The main menu failed to impress, especially when compared to other brunch spots. The portions were modest, lacking the wow factor one would expect, especially given the price. But the real disappointment lay in the pastries that look amazing but taste terrible. Each one I sampled was disappointingly dry and bland, including the Easter egg, which failed to deliver the festive delight I had hoped for. The service left much to be desired. My friend's coffee took an eternity to arrive, and our waiter seemed perpetually lost among the tables, she asked every table if they ordered the cappuccino until she finally got to our table. Even after we finished our main courses, our plates lingered on the table, and we finally requested their removal, which took longer than expected. To exacerbate matters, other diners left, leaving their tables uncleared for a long time without any attention from the staff. Settling the bill proved to be another ordeal, as the staff appeared unprepared to handle a gift certificate, resulting in further delays. In summary, the Easter brunch experience at Tides simply did not measure up to its hefty price tag. While the staff's friendliness was commendable, their lack of coordination and efficiency detracted significantly from the overall experience. For those seeking a good brunch, I would recommend exploring other places.

A five course meny endes up as four courses. A lot of waiting. Scallops forgotten. Wheel served without asking if we wanted another wine (red) with the weel. We did not have to pay for a bottle of wine, but the price of the bottle was less than the price for the scallops. We were not satisfied.

Dear 582steinara, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback regarding your recent dining experience at Tides. We sincerely apologize for the issues that you encountered during your meal. Wonderful restaurant in the Edition hotel. We ate there every day for breakfast and several times for lunch and dinner during our stay. The food was high quality and delicious and the service was excellent. In particular, Heldar, who served us breakfast each day, was friendly, helpful and attentive and gave us some excellent tips for our visit.

We enjoyed breakfast and multiple dinners at the Tides restaurant. The food selections and wine pairings were exceptional. The dishes were very well prepared and the presentation artfully crafted. The flavors exceeded our expectations. Our servers were very attentive, offering suggestions, many of which we tried and enjoyed. Would highly recommend a stay at the Edition Reykjavik and dinner at the Tides restaurant.

We were excited to try this new restaurant and had high hopes. The service failed at basic service- sometimes not knowing what food they put in front of us. We received a glass of bubbly because the food was so late. We all ordered lamb- a common food in Iceland. Unlike everywhere else we ate at the portion was extremely small, cold, and not very good. The Cesar salad was 3 pieces of romaine with a huge mound of mayonnaise sprinkled with cheese. It was inedible! Added to all this was the very high price. It’s a beautiful venue at a beautiful hotel. I’d recommend going for just a coffee!

We previously gave a 5 review but this hotel has handled a clear billing error on their part despicably! They charged the 2 of us for 5 buffet breakfasts on one of 4 days; refused to honour a promise at checkin while we watched the agent type in to give the full food & beverage credit daily for all dining including breakfasts. We had lunch, dinner, and all breakfasts at the hotel. Not 1 credit was given! Several emails were sent reporting above with no reply, then an offensive reply, and after 4 days an offer to credit a portion of the disputed amount. This hotel ought to be ashamed of the way they are conducting themselves and ownership ought to fire or at least admonish those responsible!

The Tides restaurant at the Edition Hotel was the best restaurant in Iceland for us. The food was so good, that we ended up eating there three times in a week, each time better than the last. Among the excellent dishes we had were the Queen Bay Scallops, and the Cod Ballotine with Confit Leeks and Mussel Sauce. We have eaten at many of the finest restaurants in London and the Tides restaurant is at the same level as the best of them. They were happy to organise wine pairings for us for each dish. This restaurant clearly has some wonderful chefs and we were privileged to meet Georg the Head Chef, and Robert who designed the last meal for us. Fantastic! All the staff were very friendly and welcoming, and we had great service from: Igor, Emilie, Natasha and Buoyant as well as from David and Selome behind the bar. We hope to see you all again when we next return to Reykjavík.

Although a bit pricey (hamburger plate is ISK4900, about USD40, a breakfast bagel is about USD18) the food is very good, service is attentive and restaurant is comfortable. We had both lunch and dinner at Tides, and each meal was excellent. Particularly interesting at dinner was an aged Feykir cheese salad, the grilled chicken main, and lobster ravioli. Lunch treats included the langoustine roll, the hamburger, and very well executed fries. The bar menu is appealing as well, and we would like to be able to get the flatbreads at lunch service as well. We were comfortable and well cared for at Tides, and the Edition Reykjavik overall.

Went for our anniversary lunch and had the best meal on vacation. The hostess Kiki made us feel very welcome and took the time to answer any questions about the menu, with some great recommendations. The highlight of the meal was the lamb croquets and recommend that to anyone who has lunch at Tides. The staff went out of their way to make our anniversary special, we can't wait to visit again.

Big disappointment with the food. We had Scallops, salmon, Iberico pork, flounder, lamb and potato skins. The portions are an absolute joke. It is 99% on the presentation and not about the food and taste. The salmon was undercooked and we had to send it back. The lamb was 3 tiny medallions 1/2 inch thick. The flounder was cooked through and dry, the pork was overcooked and tasteless. The scallops had been cut into very thin slices and in a layer of sauce that had too many different tastes that did not match. The potato skins were actually four boiled potatoes with 5 thin slices of potato skins on top (did not match menu description).. Extremely pricy. Service was good. Not recommended.

Everything was spot on! We had the 4 course tasting menu with wine and Phillip and his team were fantastic as they knew the wines and the food very well. I also had a Ring of fire cocktail that was one of the best Old Fashions I have ever tasted. Food was great - wines were very good as well and paired nicely with the selections. Only downside was trying to park...but it was quickly taken care of by the hotel valet once we came in....
