If you’re used to having a bacon roll from Greggs for your breakfast and like the price tag attached to it, don’t go here. However, if you want to treat yourself and have some freshly prepared tasty food then give this place a try. Yes it’s a little expensive but everywhere is in Reykjavík. We had the avocado on toast, with griddled tomatoes, fried egg and wasabi nuts and streaky bacon, fried eggs, salad and sourdough toast and pancakes with fruit and cream. We also had two lattes, two teas and a hot chocolate. Total bill was about £50 which is a lot for brunch. The service was excellent and the food was gorgeous. The pastries in the window just tempt you in. We went back another day for coffee and cake, 1 latte, 1 tea, 1 cheese and ham toastie and 2 apple danish slices - £20. It’s always busy and it’s a must to try it once.

Sandholt offers generous breakfasts for a very reasonable Icelandic price. Their coffee is excellent. Staff were all so friendly. Just try and walk out without a cinnamon bun which is easily the size of your hand - so light and fluffy and not too sweet even when covered in caramel.

We were a group of 7 eating in this restaurant, which had been recommended to us, deservedly so. We started with coffees and hot chocolates both of which were delicious. We were not hurried at all even though it was busy. When we were a full group we were moved to a larger table where we ordered drinks. Everything is extremely expensive, however the quality cannot be faulted. The service was very friendly and courteous. Every one of us enjoyed our meal tremendously. We bought some pastry items to take away with us which were also delicious, particularly the cinnamon buns! A highly recommended venue!

Me and my friend ate here before going on a long day tour - it was a great start to the day! I had the pancakes and a flat white and my friend had eggs. The food was beautiful and the actual restaurant really cosy. They also did takeaway sandwiches and bagels which looked awesome - I really regret not buying one. For two breakfasts and 3 drinks the cost was around 25 GBP (approximately 4000 ICK). I would definitely recommend this place and I would visit again!

Visited here for brunch and the food was amazing! Ordered the pancakes with bacon, pecans and maple syrup; the pancakes were the fluffiest I’ve ever eaten and the bacon was cooked perfectly. I would recommend eating here. Also brought a cinnamon bun on a different visit which was wonderful.

This is one to try, absolutely fabulous food. A bit on the pricey side, our first breakfast of 2 x pancakes, 1 x eggs in tomato sauce and 1 x cooked breakfast and 3 x lattes and 1 hot chocolate totally back into pounds was £52. If you wanted a treat this is the place to go. Everything is cooked on site and all very fresh and they also have a bakery for rolls, bread and huge cakes...check it out !!

Definitely worth a visit at lunchtime. Great food and great service. I was so impressed with the food on my first visit....a hearty bowl of vegetable soup that I returned for a second visit. The 'light' lunch of fresh fish cakes accompanied by a slightly sweet bran bread kept me going all afternoon. It was truly delightful and well placed for the shops and attractions in the centre of Reykjavik

This place had great reviews so we made our way there on an early Monday morning when they were not so busy. We got a table, and ordered coffee and food. The water arrived about 20 min later, then fried eggs, and after asking them about drinks and croissants the croissants were brought another 10-15 min later while our drinks were still no where to be seen. Our friend went to check with the barista how much longer we should wait for the drinks and he was very rude to her and asked if we maybe want to cancel our order. Although the food was good, the service is terrible. Don’t sit down to eat there, order to go if you want to try their products, to save yourself some very disappointing experience.

In our four days in Reykjavik we had breakfast here three time. By British standards, it is not cheap, but sometimes, it is worth paying for the atmosphere and Sandholt has that in spades! The sourdough toast alone is worth the price. The coffee is tasty and the tea could have been made in Yorkshire! The staff are friendly and helpful and the whole package just lovely.

Went there this morning for a coffee and pastry. We were seated fairly rapidly then people who had come in after us began being served before we even had our order taken. Even after our order was taken it took forever for our coffee to come, and then it came without the toast we had ordered. In the meantime others had come and gone. When I was asked how my experience was and I explained all I received in response was a "huh"

Extremely SLOOOWWWWW. We arrived before 8:00am, shortly after the restaurant opened… after being seated for breakfast and waiting 1.5 hours with no coffee and no water, we asked how much longer our order would be. We were told about 20 minutes additional. I’m sorry, but waiting nearly two hours for breakfast food and coffee is just too much. We left, went around the corner to Braud & Co, and within minutes we’re fed and caffeinated and off to enjoy our day exploring Iceland. I wish I had the opportunity to try Sandholt, but their speed of service didn’t fit with our schedule.

Absolutely overrated and slow place. The staff is rude, especially their barista who obviously doesn’t care about the customer service and reputation of his own employer. They are extremely slow, the cooked food came first, had to wait for croissants for about 20 min; and absolutely didn’t get our coffee which we noticed other tables also received as the last order, not the first. Even Apple juice they didn’t bring at all. The food is average too. If you are on a schedule, avoid this terrible customer service and go elsewhere!

This was close to our hotel so we stopped by a couple times for breakfast and we enjoyed everything we tried. The pancakes where light and fluffy. The pastries were fresh and delicious. There is plenty of seating, but depending on when you arrive you may have to wait for a seat, it does get busy mid-morning. They also make good take away sandwiches and beverages.

Delicious hot chocolate and a warm, cozy retreat from the cold and wet December weather. I had the avocado toast and my friend had an egg dish with tomato sauce. We topped off our first breakfast in Reykjavik with a few pastries from the case. Everything was delicious and we’d definitely go back to try other things on the menu when we are in the city again.

We queued for half an hour for a table. It was not worth the wait. When we sat down the waitress gave us our menus and a jug of water. The order was taken and we then waited an interminable time for our food. We were sitting close to the waitress station so had to endure her noisily depositing dirty plates and cutlery. From our table we saw our food come out where it sat by the barista (getting cold) while she tried to make take away coffees and table service coffees by herself. She had far too much to do and people were waiting for absolutely ages for their take out coffee. Eventually she got round to our coffees and the food arrived. Thankfully it was still warm enough. We then had to pay at the counter - another queue. Their whole system needs a huge overhaul, I wouldn’t recommend it unless you have hours to kill and like queuing.
