Went here around 3.30 on a Saturday, and although pretty busy inside, the service was very quick. We went in for happy hour desserts and cocktails and they were fantastic. The desserts are huge and worth it for around £6 (although £12-13 outside of happy hour is a little steep!). Cocktails were all presented brilliantly and had their own quirks. Would love to go back again but found this place on our final day in Reykjavik

The Lamb fillet dish is to die for. excellent and tender. The food hand service here was so good, we went backa second time and made a meal completly out of the "Sample" menu. A salute for the food quality, price, dining experience, and service. We cant wait to travel back to Reykjavik to visit and dine at our new favorite restaurant!

One of the best meals I have had in a country known for good (and expensive) meals. After a day spent hiking to the volcano, my friend and I arrived around 9:30 looking for a filling but not to large dinner. This was perfect. The place was busy, but the very friendly staff sat us at the bar for a drink while a table was cleared. Beer was competitively priced for Reykjavik ($10 or so a liter) and the bartender helped us pick a good local one. Once seated we ordered a bread basket, an order of fries with spiced mayo and two (not so) small plates: the lamb flatbread and the beef skewer flatbread. All the food was outstanding in taste and generous in portion size. WE ate every last morsel and left feeling fully satisfied. The total cost for both of us, including the 2 beers, was about $ 85 -90. This is a high price everywhere but Reykjavik, where it is quite reasonable. But considering the amount, the quality, the presentation, and the flavor, this was a bargain. I have never had a $35 (per person) dinner anywhere that compares. Oh, and all the servers were very friendly! Eat here and be happy.

My mother and I had New Years Eve dinner here. The restaurant was charming, but a little cramped (not uncommon for Reykjavík). The cocktail menu was extensive but most of the drinks were gin based, which was fine for me but not so much for Mom. We decided to order the gourmet Iceland platter so that put us on the tapas track, but there were only two or three other items to choose from. The platter was good, but all the meat was prepared in a similar fashion so it was hard to distinguish the whale from the puffin from the lamb taste/texture wise. there was about a 1.5 oz portion of each meat. We also had the kebab style lamb, which was delicious, but a third kebab would have been nice considering the price.
I would recommend having a quick snack if you are planning to do tapas style.

Fjallkonan (The mountain woman) is a great alternative to Reykjavik's trendy gourmet establishments. Food is fresh, well prepared and served with a smile. The fares are local without presented without the fanfare of other top-tier restaurants. Lamb and salmon among the best.
It is frequented by locals and that says a lot. The ambiance is very cozy and not stuffy.
A must try!

While nothing in Iceland is cheap, this restaurant is exceptional value for the quality of the food. We had lamb fillet and beef tenderloin and everything was fantastic from the meat through to celeriac puree and as for the deep fried brownie dessert well.....simply the best dessert i have ever eaten although a huge portion.

We came here on a Saturday night, you can instantly see that it's one of the coolest place in the center. We didn't have a reservation, but the staff found us a place in 15 minutes. We ordered the grilled salmon and the turkey leg, portions were massive - especially the 600g turkey leg- and food was very tasty. We were told that the place was also famous for it's desserts and that's true: we got the skyr cheesecake, absolutely wonderful.
2 main courses, a small appetizer, 2 beers and 1 dessert (plus service that's already included) cost 110€. Acceptable for the coolest place in town.

I came with my cousin, we ordered the Christmas menu.
The menu was amazing, food was excellent every dish we had, really good portions. I highly recommend the Christmas menu if you are around Nov-Dec.
Staff was really friendly, some newer then others, but they all tried their best during the evening, explaining every dish nicely.
Atmosphere was good, one downsize was the music, staff kept putting the volume higher and higher during the evening.
Being a person that works in hospitality industry, I didn't like the fact that the waiters (female) where all wearing nails longer then their own fingers, that is just not professional.
I only Ignored that due to the fact the food was great, and I was having a great evening.
I gave them 4* due to the fact food was amazing, could have given them 5* if the music wasn't so loud and female staff having super long nails.
I will defiantly go again sometime.

I went to Fjallkonan because I had heard great things about their desserts. We had the ferris wheel and it was very nice. Not great but nice.
All in all, I was seriously disappointed. Food wasn’t bad just ok but the pricing is insane. I paid 5000 for chicken and fries. That’s just insane. Call it piri piri chicken and truffle fries but it’s still over priced chicken and fries. Wine sold by the glass was not good (tried 2 out of 3).

I took my girlfriends there today for lunch. I booked the table as they wanted to try something new. As the result they all were so disappointed in what they got.
The foods were cold and not flesh at all. We felt like we got leftover. The cheese which one of us got was too hard so she couldn’t even eat it. Also my sparkling water was so flat.
I was personally more disappointed in their customer service. When I called the restaurant to ask a few questions at 19:30 on 14th of April the employee who answered my phone call wasn’t really listening to me and hanged up on me. I should have cancelled my reservation when I talked to the Icelandic guy waiter. This restaurant needs an improvement.

We stopped in for cocktails on our way to dinner. We sat outside and enjoyed the cool temperatures and beverages!
I had the Karma Chameleon. It was delivered in two laboratory beakers and I mixed them myself. It was delicious!! And fun!
Our group also shared a hummus tower - avocado, pumpkin and beetroot hummuses served with toasted French bread. Delicious!

Went to Fjallkonan for the first time with a family of 8 including a toddler with allergies, the staff made us feel so welcome. We had the piri piri chicken, lamb charmoula, beef tenderloin and confit duck and everyone was more than satisfied. For dessert we shared the deep fried brownie and deep fried oreo which were delicious. We went there to celebrate my mums birthday and one of the waiters picked up on that and brought her a surprise birthday ice cream. Highly recommend this place and I will definitely visit again soon :)

After reading the reviews of Fjallkonan and having walked pasted the restaurant on our travels we decided to book a slot for an early dinner - and oh my and I'm glad we did! Super helpful staff as soon as you walk in and a good vibe. I had the beef tenderloin which was soooo tasty and my partner had the 1/2 chicken piri piri, we usually would of stayed for dessert but the portions were huge so decided against it. Our bill came to £73 but was worth every penny as the food was amazing - best meal we had in Reykjavik!!

We had lunch with friends at this restaurant, decided on having 5 snack dishes or appetisers, trout on blini was excellent, only complaint is that we had to ask for one extra blini as the four of us we were served three blinis. Spicy cauliflower was really good and smoked lamb only flatbread, I was a bit disappointed with hummus. In all very good dishes and service was excellent, friendly and helpful.
