Yesterday was our 26th wedding anniversary and we wanted to find somewhere a bit special to celebrate. We weren't disappointed.
Harry's was the perfect setting for us to celebrate and while it isn't the cheapest restaurant we've eaten at in Reykjavik it certainly is the nicest.
My wife had a set menu of vegetable spring rolls to start followed by lamb tenderloin with a baked potato and vegetables then a French chocolate cake for dessert.
I had meat spring rolls to start, then chicken breast with a baked potato and vegetables followed by a blueberry cheesecake to finish.
All of the food was all absolutely delicious, the lamb and the chicken were both cooked perfectly while the baked potatoes were lovely and soft. The starters and desserts were just as good, we couldn't fault a single thing.
The staff were really friendly and helpful, they seemed to know just when to come over but were not overbearing or in the way.
We couldn't recommend Harry's highly enough, especially for a special occasion.

We found this restaurant on our hunt for a minimum decently priced restaurant in Reykjavik that would acutally satisfy us with actual good food. We gave up looking for something cheap and decided to just go in and pay the slighly above average price in hopes of eating well, and it did not disapoint. The atmosphere is really nice, the staff is wonderfully sweet and eficient and the food was just delicious. My mother ordered tempura as her main course as she didn’t want to eat much and I ordered the lamb tenderloin with this wonderful buttery potato and vegetables on the side, for dessert we asked for the french chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream, orange, blueberrys and strawberrys and some fruit sauce, and everything was so wonderfully cooked to perfection and with beautiful presentation. Went again the next day with a big group with no reservation and even tho the restaurant was full and they were stressed and busy they were always sweet, got us a table, and when I said we were in a rush they asked the cheff to be quick and the food arrived maximum of 15 minutes later for everyone, again so good and beautifully presented.
The night before I ate fish as ships for 17€ which is as cheapest as you’re gonna get in Reykjavik when eating out and it was just average and the fish soaked in oil, here I paid 28€ for this beautiful dish with lamb which is Iceland’s speacialty, so it’s a 100% worth it to spend the extra 10€ and actually eat well.
Will come back, defenitely recomend!

Highly recommend food was delicious and good value for money. This was cheaper than other places we went but much better quality. We got a 3 course offer for around 5.000Kr which included tempura king prawns, grilled haddock or salmon and a cheesecake dessert. Service was very quick and staff were friendly.

I ordered the lamb, "medium rare, emphasis on rare." What arrived was well done. I sent it back, and what arrived next was medium to medium well. I gave up and ate it.
In addition, viewers should know thar Harry's is one of those places that provides a large plate decoratively holding very small portions of food: one miniature broccoli floret, a single bit of onion, two tiny slices of carrot...artsy, but small and expensive. BAH!
BAD VALUE.

For our first night in Reykjavik - New Years Eve! - I had originally booked a restaurant for our dinner (you absolutely have to on New Years Eve) but it was about a 1.5 km walk from our hotel, and I didn't fancy walking back in the dark on the very slippery icy streets so I cancelled our reservation and we played it by ear. Because it was so early 4:30 pm we scored a table at what turned out to be a very nice restaurant indeed (Harrys Restaurant just across the road from our hotel). Surprisingly (bit early even for New Years Eve) we were the only ones there when we first arrived but it slowly filled up as we had our meal. The waitress was very accommodating in relation to our food allergies and she spoke to the chef about modifying some of the offerings for us. The food was delicious. I had my first fish meal in Iceland, I had salmon and my wife had haddock. You might blanche at the cost but dining out is quite expensive in Iceland, more so on New Years Eve, $A80 each. We complemented our meal with a chardie from Chile $65. Very happy with our meal. Highly recommended.

We really enjoyed having dinner at Harry’s . My daughter has numerous intolerances and it was great to find somewhere that did grilled chicken with a jacket potato and veg . She thoroughly enjoyed it along with the gluten free French Chocolate cake . My husband enjoyed his grilled salmon and I thought the grilled haddock dish from the menu was wonderful . The fish was so fresh . My husband also enjoyed the cheesecake while I enjoyed a Tia Maria coffee . Everything was good quality and the service excellent . We hope to eat here again later in our stay in Reykjavik.

My wife and I went here our last night in Reykjavik. It was a little further down the Laugavegur from the Kvosin Hotel than we thought, but a very pleasant walk. We went in by chance, drawn in by the menu and very reasonable prices. All dozen or so tables were filled when we got there, but a nice couple overheard us checking in and offered their table as they were just finishing their drinks. We were promptly and pleasantly served with menus and Icelandic beers. My wife and I both ordered the lamb tenderloin and were practically blown off our feet with how good it was. If I've had a better tasting meal it must have been years ago, if ever. The lamb was a generously sized filet and done perfectly, as was the baked potato. I'm not really a vegetable guy, but the vegetable mix was prepared almost to a light crisp and probably the best vegetables I've ever had. Anyone who knows me would know that I don't do seconds on vegetables, but I would have for those. We had apple pie and chocolate cake for desert and they were both wonderful. The service was timely and just right. The delightful lady manager (owner?) stopped by after desert with a fun visit.
This is not a large or overly fancy place but it will definitely be our go to restaurant on future visits to Reykjavik.

I ordered one of their evening dinner specials. The first course was fried scallops, which were absolutely delicious. The second course was grilled lamb tenderloin, which I had ordered medium rare. The lamb came out cold and when I requested it to be corrected it came back medium plus. Such a shame, this could’ve been a wonderful meal. It was tender but now instead of re-cooking it they heated it up, I presume in the microwave, which cooked it way past my desired temperature. The dessert was a fluffy chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. It was delicious.
It is just too bad that they treated the main course in such a poor manner. Likewise, the service was significantly less than efficient. But for those two missteps, they might have received a five star rating from me. Such a shame.

Wonderful food. The fish is exceptionally cooked and the staff are very welcoming.
We loved it here so much we went back twice.
Not too overpriced and very affordable considering what other restaurants charge here,
Highly recommend this place for a nice evening meal out.

I had been craving Lamb for a couple of days. It was our last night in Iceland so we were walking down the main Street looking at all of the menus posted. This restaurant showed a special that included lamb tenderloins and chocolate cake for dessert. When we went inside I decided on the lamb shank instead. It was SO tender. Would definitely recommend.

Some people in my tour group recommended this place so we went for dinner on Feb 25th. I had the "lobster" tails which were delicious and my friend had the lamb which she said was well seasoned and tender. I'm so sad to hear that tourism is really down in this beautiful country (and everywhere else). Thoughts and prayers going out.

Oh my........ Harry's definitely loves up to.the reviews. Amazing food here. Unsure where to go on our first night in Reykjavik and after a quick look we ended up at Harry's. I am so pleased we did..incredible food. I had the delicious Lamb shank in red wine gravy. My husband had the beef and thoroughly enjoyed every bit of the tender meat. I would recommend everyone to enjoy a meal here 😊

We were intending to go to the gastropub further up the road but having been in and not felt good about the place when dining with an 11 year old we left for Harry's instead. What a great decision.
It isn't the cheapest place we've found in Reykjavik but it was worth it. We ordered fish and chips with beer special, and 2 grilled haddock, one with the sauce and one without. The first was substantial and light as well as flavoursome. The haddock was delicious and while it didn't look that substantial, with 4 potato wedges, it was deceptively filling. We had no room for dessert. Viking beer went down well as did a mojito although it could have done with a tad more crushed ice. Service was excellent. Would highly recommend. In £££ probably about £87 which seems to be about average although more than we would expect to pay for the same in the UK.

We’d researched places to eat in advance and already marked this as a top favourite so pre-booked to come.
Its a really busy place so you definitely need to book but there is also a bar area where people were having a drink whilst waiting for a table to become free.
I can understand why it is so busy the food was lovely. We did only manage a starter and main and I'll attached photos but wow what flavours were packed into every dish.
Despite it being super busy the servers were attentive and friendly and spent the time needed to answer any questions about the dishes and ask about our trip and experience in Iceland so far.
This restaurant is a trek from the main town but its is definitely worth the visit
