Thought we'd try something non Icelandic while in Iceland. The food didn't disappoint as they have a great selection and when it arrived it was very good. A little disappointed with the lack of customer service, we had to ask for drinks and the food took too long to arrive. If they improve the customer service I would highly recommend.

As a vegetarian traveling in Iceland, finding this restaurant was like finding an oasis in the desert :) The ambience in the restaurant is lovely, the waitstaff is warm and friendly. The food took a bit of time to arrive but arrived piping hot and delicious. I ordered the vegetarian platter (it surprisingly comes with rice but without any bread/naan) and a glass of wine and paid about $40. Expensive, but what isn't in Iceland? ;)

My family and I went for dinner at Himalayan Spice and had the three course menu. The starters were quite strange but still very good but the main course was amazing. They had no trouble changing the menu to acommodate me as I’m a vegetarian. I would strongly recommend this place and we will likely be returning.

We had a gift voucher for a three-course meal, but what with covid-closures and everything, had not been able to use it until now. The food was all delicious. We eat curries quite often, home made and dining out, and this was top notch. Vegetable pakora were great, and we also had some interesting crunchy little balls filled with spicy potato , into which we poured a thin dressing. Totally new to us and nicely spicy. The mains were the taste of Himalayan platter - the tandoori chicken legs we had tried before in a takeaway but of course they are even better on a hot iron plate covered in fried onion and bell peppers. Plenty of naan, rice, chutney, momos and two types of curry. Luckily for us dessert was not huge!
Of course it feels a bit odd eating out after all this social distancing. It is sad that we were the only people in there, Saturday was a bit busier I think. But super food, presented beautifully. Will go back there for sure.

Delicious nepali food and super friendly staff! Would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone. It is a bit pricy, but it’s worth trying nepali food if you haven’t tried it before. I would recommend thali, momo and chat pate

Wow! The chef underestands spices; the layers of spice just kept coming, the Lamb in my "Himalayan curry"was moist and tender (not dried ouf by hours of been kept warm) and the dish wafted fresh spice notes from the moment it arrived at the table. Each mouthful a beautifully balanced mix of the immediate high notes of floral spices, that rise to thee back of your nose, to the eathy rich flavours that that take time to hit the taste buds, followed by a subtle heat that’s just enough to leave you looking for another mouthful. The nan was not the usual overworked tough dough passed of in many restaurants, it was light, fresh and tandoor warm, it was so good I had to order more as the rest of tne table ate mine.
Four dishes and four very happy patrons, even the veggie raved about the vegetable chilly mo:mo's
A very reasonable price too, if you like a good curry the Himalayan Spice will not disapoint.

Thought we would try something a bit different and were not disappointed. The food was really tasty and good size portions. We had a mixed selection meal for 2 which had lots of things to try and we enjoyed it all. The children shared a lamb biryani and a naan bread which were really nice too. The service was ok, there was just one guy on his own and we easily got a table on a Sunday night around 8pm. Total bill was about £100 with 3 soft drinks and 1 beer.

Had seen the reviews for Himalayan Spice and had to give it a try.
Had the Himalayan Sharing platter for two, Tandoori Chicken Vegetable and Chicken Momo's Prawns, Tikka Masala, Vegetable curry and Naan.
Quality of the food was excellent, tender flavourful chicken, the Tikka Masala wasn't your usual British flavours much more tasty. Veg Curry had a nice kick and was more than enough for 2.
Not going to complain about the price, it's Iceland expect to pay £20-£30 more than in a UK restaurant.
Only gripe, the Nepalese music, very repetitive and could do with going down a notch :).
Would recommend the restaurant for groups and couples, Attentive staff and great décor, located by the harbour about a 10 minute walk from the main shopping road.

We turned up on the off chance on the way back to the hotel after a busy day and it was fully booked, we were told they could book us a table in an hour which we had no problem waiting for as the food smelled delicious! Came back and had the most fantastic food, so flavourful! The vegetable pakoras were devine and my partner has not stopped talking about the lamb Sekuwa, the mains were to die for too. I'm coeliac so have to be very careful with what I eat and the lady serving us was very helpful advising what I could have off the menu and double checking with the chef that it was fully gluten free. The food seemed a bit on the pricey side but that being said it was our first meal in Reykjavik so it's probably the norm and we enjoyed every bite, the portions were generous so no complaints from us at all! Highly recommend a visit!

Great meal on our last night in Reykjavik. We had the meal for 2 people = Taste of Himalaya
Served in Sizzler - (Tandoori Chicken, Masala Shrimps, Chicken & Vegetable Mo:Mo) - Chicken Tikka Masala, Vegetable Curry, Rice & Naan with Himalayan chutney, Raita & Mint sauce. Although pricey at 12.999 kr roughly £75, my partner declared this his favourite meal of our trip for the mo mo and shrimp. Easy to book online just an hour or so before attending, filled up at around 19.45.
Friendly staff, a good experience.

Really enjoyed our visit to Himalayan Spice. We love Himalayan cuisine, although we have had better in Estes Park, CO and Jackson Hole, WY. The pros is that they accept reservations and were open during the Easter Holiday. The chili momos were excellent, as was the garlic naan. The cons were the prices and spice level. We paid over $100 USD for 1 appetizer, 1 entree, 1 beer, 1 cocktail, and 1 side of naan. The spice level of the lamb curry was also not spicy at all. I will say the flavors were pretty good— we found that Iceland cuisine does not contain much seasoning or spice. I would probably ask for extra spicy.

Thank you for your review and for choosing our restaurant for your Himalayan cuisine fix! We're glad that you enjoyed the chili momos and garlic naan, but we apologize that the spice level of the lamb curry was not to your liking. We'll make sure to communicate this to our chefs and try to improve in this area. As for the pricing, we understand that it can be expensive and we try to keep our prices competitive with other restaurants in Reykjavik. We're happy to hear that you appreciated the flavors of our dishes, and we'll make sure to consider your feedback for future improvements.
Thank you again for your visit and we hope to see you again soon. 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

I was studying in Iceland and heard from my roommates and several classmates how good this restaurant is. I decided to try it before I left Iceland, and it did not disappoint! I ended up going there twice in the same week. The staff are very kind and helpful, and take good care on providing information if you need any recommendations or if you have any allergies they need to be aware of.
On my first visit I shared the chicken chilli momos and the chicken biryani with my friend and we were both so amazed by the food. For my second visit, I shared the chicken soup momos, garlic naan and the paneer thali set with my friend. The momos, again, were very good, and the soup was very nice and had the perfect amount of spice in it. The thali set was really good and the spinach and yogurt dish in particular were my favorite.
If you are in town, I would definitely recommend visiting this restaurant. It may seem pricey, but the prices are pretty standard to what you see at most restaurants in Iceland.

We had 8 wonderful nights touring Iceland. Food quality was excellent. We were in Reykavik for 3 nights and tried some amazing restaurants such as Kopa and Apotek. We then wanted to try a different cusine and stumbled across this little Gem. We were amazed at the food quality as it was as good as or better than some great Indian restaurants we have in Birmingham UK. Menu was excelent and food quality was excellent. It is a family run restaurant and everything is cooked fresh so service can be a little slow but it is fully worth a wait. I will highly recommend this nicely decorated restaurant at the Harbour.

We ate at a lot of restaurants in our 10 days in Iceland. Many were wonderful, and this was hands-down our favorite! The Nepalese owners immigrated to Iceland over 20 years ago and created this truly wonderful restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, the servers (including one of the family members) were charming (and very careful about my food allergies!), the decor was beautiful, and even though the food is genuinely Nepalese, they also have Icelandic touches, like a delicious lamb dish. So... after you've sampled the tried and true Icelandic traditions like Fish and Chips, fermented shark, etc., you REALLY, REALLY should visit Himalayan Spice

Steve, thank you very much for your review, honestly it is these kind of very detailed reviews that are very inspiring to me to continue offering a little piece of Nepal in Iceland, the whole Himalayan Spice family is very involved in creating a unique and authentic atmosphere that take very good care of the culture of the Nepal. We are very happy to be able to make Nepal known while being so far from Nepal.
Thanks again.

We had a family dinner at Himalayan spice.
The waiter served us drinks and recommended us a shared platter, this way we could try several dishes.
This meal is meant for two but it was no problem at all to make it for three persons.
We also had our little boy with us, who has an allergy for dairy and eggs. For him, a little dish of salmon and potatoes was prepared. Such a great service!
All the dishes tasted great and the naan bread was outstanding.
We can certainly recommend visiting Himilayan Spice restaurant in Reykjavik.
