We visited here on a Monday evening after reading all the good reviews and it did not disappoint! We hadn’t booked and although it was busy we were greeted with a smile and sat down without a fuss. Free tap water on the table and we were brought warm bread with delicious whipped butter. Lovely atmosphere, wonderful service and the food was phenomenal. We had the cod with black spaghetti and the fish of the day (ling) which were both so delicious. Followed by the chocolate cake and sticky toffee date cake, both the presentation and taste were superb. The menu consisted of traditional meat and fish dishes and also some veggie options. The food really was top quality and at £80 for 2 mains, 2 desserts and 2 beers, very reasonable for Iceland and absolutely worth every penny. Really friendly staff who seemed genuinely happy to have you there and offered recommendations which were much appreciated. A true gem, I’d recommend to anyone staying in or near Reykjavík, 10/10!

Before arriving in Reykjavik we had already scooped out this place, and it just so happened to be right opposite the street from our hotel. On our first night, we decided to have the set 3-course meal, and everything was absolutely delicious! The lamb ribeye is worth highlighting as it was a beautifully thought out dish, with great flavours and textures. The waiters were very attentive, helpful, and did an overall excellent job, which only added to the experience! Our visit was so good, that we came back just two days later, where I had the creamy fish soup, and my girlfriend had the black pasta, both of which we also highly recommend. Prices are very fair, taking into account the quality of food and service as well as the general price level of Iceland. Definitely go here if you get the chance!

Really enjoyed our meal tonight. Greeted warmly. Good advice regarding the menu. I chose off the set menu. Oh lordy, the coffee cured salmon is outrageously gorgeous. It doesn't taste of coffee so don't let that put you off. Hubby had Icelandic meat soup which was very satisfying. For mains I had the lamb and hubby had ling which is a fish caught in Icelandic waters similar to cod. Both dishes were AMAZING. Icelandic lamb is a must whilst you're in the country. We shared a Creme caramel. Yummy. During the meal there was a small mishap which I'm not going to expand upon, just one of those things.... The staff were very quick to sort the situation and, without being asked, knocked the cost of our wine off the bill which we were very grateful for. These people are very caring and genuine. Would definitely return and definitely recommend.

As a group of four friends dining it can sometimes be difficult to choose a restaurant, however as usual we were guided by the reviews on trip advisor. We were not disappointed. The lamb was tasteful and a large portion. The beef was cooked beautifully and filled two of the diners. The fish course was good, however the fish was overpowered by its accompaniments but eaten separately delicious. Dessert and drinks did not disappoint, atmosphere and service spot on. Highly recommend and if we come back to Reykjavík we would certainly eat here again.

A last minute choice for our group, we walked in and were accommodated without issue. We were on a tight timescale but the waitress, Magdalena, reassured us that it would be fine. We ordered Icelandic soup, which was rich, warming and full of chunky meat and veg and the salad, which was presented well and the plate quickly cleared. A mixture of mains were ordered, with two of us opting for fish of the day, which was red snapper, the salmon fillet and a salad. The red snapper was cooked really well and was accompanied by really tasty sides. The salmon was equally impressive. Desserts were also ordered and hit the spot. The food was spot on for every course and the service from Magdalena was personal, friendly and efficient. A real gem of a restaurant.

Thankfully no puffin, shark, whale or horse on the menu just great quality ingredients cooked with care. This place deserves it status, was there on a very busy Saturday and they didn’t turn anyone away so got a bit confusing at times but hey when you are that popular I was just happy to get a table and sample the most amazing food, coffee cured salmon, lamb rib eye all totally beautiful, a taste sensation!!! So what if service suffers a little the team were all busy and trying to deliver their best while maximising the covers. Food was worth it!!!

My wife and I were staying at the Storm Hotel and as usual looked at Trip Advisor for a suitable nearby restaurant. We chose Reykjavik Kitchen. We got there about 8pm and it was almost full with what seemed to be local young couples. We had a set menu for 7200 kroner (about £26). The meal was superb: smoked salmon, fried cod or lamb for main course and creme caramel for desert. We had been warned that eating out in Iceland can be expensive, e.g. £20 for fish and chips. This was a memorably good meal and good value . Highly recommended.

The front desk at our hotel spoke directly with Daniel and we were able to get a table here on a Saturday night. Not easy as they do not take reservations after 6. Our server,Magdalena, was cheerful, helpful and amazing. She scurried from table to table, changing languages without a second thought and provided great service with the best food we had in Reykjavik. Everything was so fresh, unique but not pretentious. We will definitely be back!!

I stopped by for an early dinner prior to heading out on evening lagoon tour. The restaurant at 16:30pm was quiet and empty, which surprised me because it was typically bustling when I walked by every night (my apartment was right across the road!). I ordered the app size Fish Soup with Dill oil and Lamb carpaccio; both were perfect starters for my evening. Their fish soup was above any other I had, especially with the inclusion of the dill oil. And the lamb was beautifully plated and accompanied by the perfect extras. I wish I had time to visit for a full meal at dinner, because the starters were amazing! Service was also good, but slow given I was the only diner.

What a great choice we made dining here. The service was warm and friendly but not intrusive but on it with refilling water etc without being asked such lovely guys. And the food just gorgeous the lamb soup was delicious, the cute little breads and garlic butter so tasty. The black pasta with cod and prawns just wow as was the salmon and barley. We could not fit a dessert in but I am sure they would be fabulous as well. Highly recommended as a must go.

Went here for my daughters birthday dinner during our first ever visit to Iceland. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere , the smiling staff , the menu right down to the music playlist was perfect. Staff immediately gave my daughter a glass of champagne for her birthday which was a lovely touch . Onto the food , 2 out of 4 of us are coeliac. Literally wasn’t an issue at all , every item on the menu is clearly marked . Food was outstanding, Mu daughter and I had the beef and my husband had the lamb . My other daughter had the seafood soup as her main. Everything was cooked to perfection. Probably the best beef I’ve ever had. Dessert was a gf choc brownie which was fab too. Regarding the price, everything in Iceland is expensive but we found this restaurant very reasonable considering the top notch food and service . Without a doubt the best restaurant in Reykjavik and probably in Iceland too. Thank you to the staff for making a birthday celebration just perfect

I booked a table based upon Trip Advisor reviews and I was not disappointed at all - thank you fellow reviewers!! We had 3 courses and all were very good. However, my starter the ceviche was AMAZING!! love the flavours, absolutely delicious. We also ate the cod, which was cooked entirely differently (in terms of pairings and flavour) to how we had eaten it our whole holiday and was very nice. The chocolate desert was also delicious. Staff I felt were a bit inattentive at times and food seemed to take a while, considering we were the only diners for a god 30 minutes. However, all the food was delicious and I would recommend!

This is a very quaint restaurant that has incredible food and an awesome staff. We sat at the bar and the staff checked on us often to be sure we were comfortable. I had the pan fried cod that was off the hook good. The mandarin sauce and sweet potato puree rocked with the fish. My sister had the Ling A'la Florentine which was delish. Besides incredible service and food the staff are wonderful humans. One of the servers actually walked a patron who was older and using a cane up the steps and out to get a cab and then waited til he was in the cab safely-the manager cam over and chatted with a couple of times. Go here is was an awesome Icelandic experience. Thank you guys!!!

found this restaurant on trip advisor based on price & menu we decided to give it a go! well….what a great place! there was 6 of us including 4 children with the youngest being 9 and a small eater. the set menu is affordable & extremely filling! the portions are a good size and the food is amazing, we ate here twice during our time in Iceland & each time the dishes did not disappoint. the staff are brilliant, great atmosphere & fab music! just such a great vibe! they catered for our daughter who doesn’t like to be ‘overfaced’ so they suggested dishes & adapted them to suit her which was so helpful. really worth a visit!

Booked here with high hopes upon reading reviews. Arrived and were greeted and seated. Water arrived and we looked at the menu. And waited, and waited and waited. After over 30 minutes someone came by to take our drink and food orders. And we waited and waited. Thankfully there was bread and butter on the table Ten minutes later ,we got our drinks. Then the starters arrived: fish soup and the salmon. Both were absolutely outstanding. Plates cleared and we waited some more. I have to add the the server was very pleasant and apologized but still, getting your mains an hour and a half after you've been seated is unacceptable. The entrees, the cod and ling cod were outstanding. Given the caliber of the restaurant, we kind of expected that some sort of apology in the form of a free coffee or dessert or a discount off the bill might have been offered but it wasn't. I would recommend for the food but make sure you're not too hungry when you arrive as you might be waiting for a long time for your food.
