We love this place! Came here fror brunch twice. It's all vegan, they have toasted sandwiches, cookies and cakes, coffee, chai latte and tea. Cute interior and two tiny tables outside. The cats are super trusting and playful and being treated in the best possible way. They choose to come and play with your handbag or sit on the comfiest seat and not move from there :-D. The chocolate chip cookies were to die for as was the lemon cake! Highly recommended for anyone not allergic to cats ;-)

Lovely cosy place! My daughter who loves cat was so happy to be there, she loved spending time with the cats whilst sipping delicious hot chocolate! The hot chocolate was amazing and the carrot cake was one of the best we ever had! The most important is that everything is vegan but tastes so amazing! The cake was moist and fluffy! The place is very clean. The owner was very nice and friendly. It’s very nice of her that she doesn’t charge an hourly fee to stay there( like all the cat cafes in Japan and even the one in London where we visited) this place is just like an ordinary cafe that happens to have cats, so is very casual atmosphere, no need to prebook like other places around the world. Highly recommended!

One thing I did not know prior to my visit to Iceland was that the country is primarily made up of cat lovers. In fact, the city of Reykjavík instated a dog ban from 1924-1984 due to health reasons (mainly tapeworms that could be transmitted from dogs to humans), so a lot of city dwellers own a cat instead. While I did see a few lovely cats roaming both the countryside and the city, I was able to interact with them the most at Kattakaffihúsið. Like most cat cafés, you need to sanitize and wash your hands before entering and purchasing a drink or a pastry will allow you to sit and play with the resident cats (who are all up for adoption). I visited in the late afternoon, and the cat café was pretty crowded by then though I was able to snag a table. We ordered two of their specialty summer iced teas (2050kr) which were refreshing and got to meet and play with all the cats (at least those who were awake). This is a wonderful little cafe to stop by if you have some time to spare.

Í went yesterday and i didn’t like the cafe at all. The cats there bit me and i didn’t do anything but pet them. It is impossible to pet them they are just annoyed and i would not let children anywhere near the cats they are really sensitive and likely to hurt them. The food there is also very expensive and bad quality and not worth it at all, you could rather just bake a whole cake at home for 5 dollar than buying one slice for 10 dollars. not worth it at all will not be visiting anytime soon:)

Ordered avocado sandwich, an icelandic christmas cake and hot chocolate. The sandwich had less of vegetables and more of chipotle, the cake was very dry but tasty and the hot chocolate was okay. Giving 3 stars because it’s difficult to find eggless cakes elsewhere and here they have atleast 7/8 types of eggless cakes

This place was a must on our trip and was honestly better than expected. They have a vegetarian menu, with most items being vegan, which for me is a huge plus. There are sandwiches, baked goods, and an extensive drink list (coffees, sodas, etc). We got the rose lemonade, a mint coffee drink, and some vegan pesto grilled cheeses, and settled in to eat. One of the cats promptly took a liking to my jacket and made themselves right at home next to me as I ate. Be warned that although the cats shouldn't be fed, some of them are, understandably, very interested in the food. One curious orange tabby was pretty insistent on getting at my sandwich, but eventually got the hint that it wasn't going to happen. As a pet owner, this is familiar territory, but I can see where it would be an annoyance for some. Still, if you're not an animal lover, this place probably isn't for you. All in all, well worth a visit.

This was a cozy little coffee house with several sweet kitties to enjoy as you sip on delicious coffee and vegan pastries. Seeing the various shop cats during our visit to Reykjavik, I had to seek this cafe out. I’m so glad we did! One of the local students who regularly studies in the cafe was kind enough to tell us each cat’s story, which was sweet as well. I recommend this place to any cat lover!

I had read about this cat cafe, as I was planning a visit to Reykjavik. The owners of this cafe are working diligently to encourage the people of Iceland to adopt cats and to become responsible owners. The cafe is very cozy, with good coffee and desserts; including vegan options! The cats are well fed, the cafe is super clean. I encourage all local people and tourists to stop in for a most relaxing and educational visit!

This cafe was so cute and the food and drinks are absolutely delicious as well :) I saw some negative reviews on here and honestly don’t mind those. The staff were all very nice. I imagine the negative reviews are from entitled guests who don’t know how to follow cafe rules lol. But anyway, you must visit this place if you love coffee, sweets, tea, and cats! They also had books too so you can read while you enjoy a cup of tea :)

We loved this place so much we stopped in TWICE while on our vacation in the area. Besides the cats and vibe, they have a wonderful menu of all vegan goodies! What we got: - vegan waffle: served warm, the waffle came with fresh vegan cream and chocolate drizzle. A perfect way to start our day - various pastries: they have a nice selection of all vegan baked goods on the counter to either take to go or enjoy while in the cafe. We loved their “waffle” treat which was a crispy sugared waffle with cream inside. Also their version of a danish was to die for!

I have visited twice. First time was nice, although the food is not great and quite expensive considering the quality, but the second time was very disappointing. One of the women working was extremely rude and even yelled at my kids and other kids in the cafe for petting one of the cats even though they were not being rough at all with it. She also cleared the table before the kids had finished their juices and muffins. I think the idea is great, but unfortunately the rude staff and expensive bad quality food makes it not worth visiting. The cats are nice though.

My 8 year old daughter and I wanted to visit this place while in Reykjavik and when we got there we were disappointed it was super small. All the tables were full and we were turned away (it was 4pm, they closed at 5). So we walked around downtown a little while and came back at 4:45 knowing they closed soon. We got a table (was not cleaned off) and I'm sure the guy working the counter was annoyed we came in right before closing. My daughter got a hot chocolate and we also got banana bread and a snickers dessert. They were all pretty good, a little pricey. Loved the ambiance and decor, very fun. The cats were all pretty sleepy but there were 2 that were awake and bit or scratched my daughter (who was not being mean, we have 3 cats ourselves and she knows how to treat them). So the whole experience was pretty rushed and not what I had hoped.

Very cute and lovely place, but I bought a avocadosandwich that was totally not worth the money. The avocadoslices were so thin! In total there was probably not more than 1/20 of avocado in it. Beside that, there was a very thin slice tomato, and a thick slice of cheese and thats all. The bread was very good though. Also, there was only one cat there. But there can be many reasons for that, so my review is mostly judges from the sandwich.

Was pleased to find that there was a cat cafe in Reykjavik, even more pleased to see that there was no fee for being there as long as you bought something. Staff were friendly, food and drink was good but the cats were very lazy! Still had a great time. Thank you for a relaxing experience.

A very cute (small) cafe. Very icelandic decorated place to get some love if you’re missing your fur babies (like us)! Nice offering of pastries and coffee. I’m dairy intolerant and they have almond alternatives. They also have gluten free offerings but i’m not sure it’s a dedicated gluten free environment. I would definitely recommend this place.
