Located overlooking the old harbour, this coffee shop features big picture windows looking out to sea towards the mountains. My wife and I both had the soup and sandwich combo. The soup was red pepper and lentil, there's a choice of several sandwiches and we had the marinated chicken, which incidentally comes as a toasted sandwich. The food was served quickly and comes fresh and hot. The flavours of both were superb and blended together nicely. Warming, filling, and tasty, exactly what we needed. I had swapped to gluten free bread for a very reasonable 150isk (about £1) more. With two teas (and free water) it came to about £32. Not cheap but then most of Iceland isn't. Well worth a visit for the great views, great food, and great service.

Popped in here to thaw out on a brutally cold afternoon. Intending to just have coffee but we’re enjoying the fabulous view and so we ordered a sandwich too. Fabulous taste and super fresh. Nicely presented and wonderful staff. Went back for breakfast couple of days later and were not disappointed. Staff were very accommodating of our friend who has medical dietary needs and they prepared him a special meal. A++ customer service and phenomenal coffee!!! Don’t forget to use the 20% off coupon from the book available at hotels!

Visited recently with my partner. Just happened to stumble upon this place whilst having a walk along the harbour. Looked cute from the outside and weather was horrible so we decided to go in and give it a try. That turned out to be one of the best decisions we made during our stay. We absolutely loved this place! Beautiful wooden decor inside, views were great, staff were friendly, atmosphere was nice and relaxed but most importantly the food and drinks were delicious. Me and my partner both had a grilled chicken sandwhich which came with a housemade garlic dip (all delicious). We also both had hot chocolate with whipped cream and chocolate sauce on the top (which again was delicious). If you are looking for a good coffee and a light bite for lunch in Reykjavik then i would 100% recommend this place.

Reykjavik Rost – - Geirsgata 5c - at the harbor We stopped for a ‘hold me over’ snack at Rost after a morning of Hop On Hop Off bussing around Reykjavik, and a couple of bad museum visits. It was a good choice. Along with a couple of adult beverages, I enjoyed Minestrone soup w/fresh bread & butter, and Catherine had a Tomato mozzarella red pesto sandwich, which she pronounced to be “very good”. The minestone soup was hearty and flavorful, with several varieties of bean, and a tasty broth. The bread was delicious, as we typically found Iceland bread to be. The staff was pleasant, as was the weather, and we were able to sit outside and enjoy our meal. If you elect to go on a whale watch or other cruise with Special Tours, you also receive a 15% off coupon.

We called in one very chilly afternoon for soup and a sandwich and was not disappointed. The soup was lentil and bell pepper and I had the vegan cheese toasted sandwich. Both were absolutely delicious and just what we needed to warm us up. Lovely cafe, right on the harbour with amazing views, definitely worth seeking out for great coffee and lovely food.

Iceland is a great country to visit but it is eye wateringly expensive. So, here's a tip when you are in the delightful city of Reykjavik. Avoid the popular tourist streets with their mortgage level prices and pop down to the Harbour and enjoy the simple pleasures of Rost. You can get soup, have a choice of salads, enjoy a rhubarb pastry and sink a coffee made with hand ground spices. While my wife and I were in Iceland last week we made three visits to Rost, each totally enjoyable.

We found this place as we went to book whale watching and it quickly became a firm favourite for mid morning coffee and cake. Lovely team and nothing was too much trouble. I highly recommend the muffins but share them first - they are BIG!! Great views that are so peaceful, just a great chill out zone

After an amazing whale watching tour we were a bit chilly and in need of a snack and with Rost being just a few steps away it was the obvious choice. We had a Hot Chocolate, a Tea and a slice of (rhubarb) cake to share which were all good, but now the only negative, it came to £15ish. Which even by Icelands inflated standards seemed steep, but saying that we did return a couple of days later so it clearly didn't put us off. Ignoring the price its a lovely place to rest a while and take in the view.

We came here for a lunch by the water. We asked if they had anything gluten free and they had loads of options: soups, salads and open sandwiches with gluten free bread! I ordered a surf and turf sandwich (salmon and ham) on the gluten free bread - they said because it was smaller bread they would give me an extra slice. It was delicious and I was very full when finished. My partner got a tuna sandwich which he really enjoyed and coffees were great too. Lovely food, staff and view!!

Eh, this place was okay. I was very enticed by the reviews saying this is the best coffee in Reykjavik. Sadly, it is just basic coffee with a crazy loud ambiance. Upon entering, we walked up to the counter to order our beverages and we were shooed away to a table to sit first and then come up to order. Kinda silly since we already knew what we wanted, but we obliged. We sat for all of 30 seconds and then returned to the counter to order. My cappuccino was okay taste wise but holy moly it was SO HOT. Like scalding hot. It was not enjoyable at all. My husband’s Cortado was also boiling hot. Both drinks didn’t even have any art on top. Just a splotch of foam. Meh on the coffee. The Icelandic Happy Marriage cake was the highlight of our stop. The cafe is very loud and noisy, full of kids running around and the tables were close together. The views of the harbor are pretty, but I did not return. Instead, we headed to our trusty Reykjavik Roasters for some legit coffee and a more peaceful ambiance.

A fantastic little cafe on the waterfront at the harbour - the views from the window are amazing. The coffee and tea were both great and they had non-dairy milk for my husband's coffee and also a vegan cake (he has dairy intolerance). Staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Went here after walking for a while and wanted a hot drink. Lovely atmosphere and staff friendly. Coffee was delicious but definitely far too small - not worth £4 for a cappuccino. Next time, I recommend ordering the double.

This cafe is located right in the heart of Reykjavik´s Old Harbour. You get an amazing view of the ocean and the mountain in the background. They offer a wide variety of pastries (Icelandic and European). The coffee is some of the best in the city but it´s the staff that really make it. They were really busy when I came in but they were still able to accommodate me and add a personal touch. They went to great lengths to decorate and make the cafe seem cozy.

First day in Reykjavik and after the drive from the airport and checking into our hotel we went for a walk to the old harbour and saw this cafe bar. Apart from providing a respite from the cold wind it gave us a very tasty late lunch. We tried the turf n surf on sourdough which was a delicious generous portion. Great friendly team looked after us very well - even if we did forget to hold onto the door when entering in the strong wind!

Gorgeous coffee, wonderful friendly service and a beautiful view. In amongst the other eateries on the harbour side, well worth a visit! Highly recommend the speciality maple and sage latte and also the barista’s favourite rum and raisin latte ☺️ Really warming and delicious!!
