Early dinner during happy hour got us table on the second floor. One other group was there so was quiet.
We decided on lamb shoulder (supposedly for 2). Carrots, peas, and waffle chips completed the serving plate. We could have fed another 2 with this plate. A 12 hour roasting of this shoulder made it a tremendous flavor and tenderness. A wonderful meal for those that like lamb.
Bring money as it's not inexpensive but, compared to the rest of Reykjavik restaurants, it's not bad

Stopped in for a New Year (I am all fancy-feasted out) BURGER!!. YUMMM!
This gastropub serves up tasty burgers with their own home-made relish.
Nice service. All well done.
Hard not to comment on Icelandic restaurant prices; the 2 burgers, 2 soft drinks with European VAT already included brought the price to the equivalent of $US 84. WOW! Where was the slab of foie gras??

My wife and I visited this Gastro Pub on our last night of a 4-night trip to Reykjavik. We both ordered burgers (I had the Reindeer Burger) and two glasses of wine. Not cheap at 10,360 Kr (That's 3390 Kr for each of the burgers, 1 x wine at 1,990 Kr and another at 1,590 Kr, and an 11% service charge which came as a bit of a surprise so no tip left). Whilst not cheap, the burgers really were great and we both thoroughly enjoyed them. This place was clearly popular with locals and although we visited in the run up to Christmas it was absolutely packed (and I do mean packed) and had to wait about 10 minutes for a table for 2. This is a good sign for any restaurant/Gastro Pub.

The table we were placed at was quite small for 5 people, and we had booked in advance. The waiters were busy to get a hold of, and the one who took our orders, was so unethusiastic that even I felt her misery working here. She even seemed annoyed to take orders.
The food was somewhat ok, but terribly overpriced for what you were actually served. Honestly the fries and vegetables were frozen discount food you can buy in any supermarket. Finally, the chokolate cake dessert had a different portion-size if you bought it as part of a menu, than if you just ordered it directly. It was more than half the size. I mean, come on. Clearly the focus here is more to be a cheap ass than anything else. In conclusion. Not worth it.

Very disappointed with my evening, I booked this restaurant 2 months prior to NYE for 20:30, the restaurant is nicely decorated and in the thick of things so I was expecting a great time, however we were shown to the basement with zero atmosphere. I understand they were busy upstairs but I expected a better seat having booked in advance. We ordered burgers, the meat ones are medium rare, not medium but the meat is good so thats not a problem, I had a veggie one, which was was good, but all the food that came was warm not hot, I'd ordered a starter but that never arrived (but it wasn't on the bill so it didn't matter), I had barely started my meal as I was texting the UK to say happy new year to those going to bead early, the the waitress asked if id finished (clearly hadn't) the when I had and she came to clear the plates she hit mine into my beer glass so hard (I was moving it out of the way of the plates) but she smashed it into my teeth and poured beer all over me. (It is lucky that I have very strong front teeth as it was really hard) She was apologetic and the manager did come over also to apologise and offered to pay for the cleaning of my top which I thought was very generous, though I didn't accept but to be honest that just finished it off.
We'd had burgers at lebowski's which are 1000k cheaper, just as good but served hot. I'm sure if I'd have been seated upstairs and hadn't almost had my teeth knocked out then this review would have been a 4 star not a 3, but the food would't have been different and I expect my food to be hot not warm.

My wife and I choose this restaurant based on its good reviews and it did not disappoint. Our meals, a Lamb sandwich and a special of ribs, were exceptional. Of particular note is that I had read about the lamb sandwich on their menu but did not notice that is was only on the lunch menu. When I ordered it the waitress informed me it was only on the lunch menu but would check with the kitchen to see if they could make it anyway. They could and they did and it was superb! I highly recommend this place,

Really well furnished gastropub in the Reykjavik city center, with a wide choice of beers and dishes. The service is really friendly and the atmosphere likable. We ate the slow cooked lamb that was really good for taste and quantity (almost 900 gr, plus vegetables). Price are pretty fair compared with the food quality! Great choice for a typical Icelandic dinner!

I always visit Sæta Svínið when I trave home to meet my family and I always walk out happy!
I booked a table there for me and my friends (6 in total) and we had the best evening ever! We ordered the offer they have called Þruman. You can choose from two different starters, main courses and desert. We also all ordered mojitos which were delicious and one of my friends asked if they had sangria, which wasn’t on the menu but they made for us anyways!! It was sooo good!!! The food was delicious, we had the carpaccio and we almost licked our plates because it was just that good! The steak as well melted in our mouth and the desert was really tasty!
The service was really good! the staff was friendly and warm and checked on us on regular bases!
One thing I would point out is that the menus need to be updated around the desert. My best friend has a peanut allergy and on the menu they do not mention any peanuts but then receiving the desert it was covered in peanuts. This was a little disappointing because we all had ice cream on our plates meaning we couldn’t wait for our friend to get her desert so she ended on eating it when everybody else was finished with theirs 😅 So guys, update please ❤️
Other than that this evening was perfect and I cant wait to visit you again 🤗

This place has a special "Icelandic Journey" menu which is really kinda gimmicky and aimed at tourists. It includes puffin, minke whale and horse meat.
Is this as good as a X star restaurant in Paris? No. But, it is when compared to other places within a thirty-minute drive.
About my ratings:
In an effort to compare apples to apples, my ratings are strictly for establishments within thirty minutes travel of each-other. It makes no sense whatsoever to give five stars to a top Paris restaurant or hotel and then only give three stars to the very best hotel or restaurant on a small island simply because it’s not equal to a five star place in a big city. In my view, it's more important to say "This is the very best place you'll find in the area."
As for this place, gotta start with the bartender. I chose a "Bartender's Choice" and he came to our table and asked me a few questions, then came back within a delightful cocktail using mainly all local ingredients.
That's the thing about nearly every service worker I met in Iceland: they were genuinely proud of what they were serving.
The waitress we had was also talented (and drop-dead gorgeous).
We arrived between lunch and dinner and, unfortunately, they have some rules about what they can or will serve during that time. So, my first two choices were unavailable.
I got the lamb sandwich and while it was good (and I ate it all), it screamed for just something extra to make the meat really jump off my palate.
The bill came to $117 for two, drinks and tip included, no dessert.
Would I recommend this place to anyone: yes.
Would I return: yes.

We popped in for lunch and it was absolutely wonderful. We had bread and hummus to start followed by the vegan burger and waffle fries. Such a huge serving and absolutely delicious. I mentioned it was my hubby's birthday and shortly after the waitress appeared with a great big plate of cake with a sparkler in it and icecream, so thoughtful and such a wonderful surprise, thank you so much it made his day. Service was attentive and fast, we were so stuffed with all of the delicious food and would definitely have lunch here again!

We really wanted to taste some of the local delicacies and local beers but everywhere is so darned expensive. After a great deal of research and exploring, we settled on Saeta Svinid and are SO glad that we did. The poster-board outside listed a special of selection of small courses of local foods including whale, puffin, horse, and some kind of fish that was the best deal around for trying these. We also had their dirty fries (a happy hour special) and some local beers, a cocktail and some local spirits that were half price during happy hour. The food and drinks were excellent, the atmosphere very festive, the staff was helpful and friendly. This was our only meal out during our week long stay and we were really glad we chose this place. We will come back next time.

We met some folks on the volcano hike that spoke highly of this restaurant and found out they were right! We split the lamb that had cooked for 12 hours and picked off it off the bone with our forks. The fries, peas and carrots were good too! Big servings. Friendly service. Downstairs was more like a pub and upstairs was little more mellow and formal restaurant like
Two thumbs up. 👍👍

Husband and I went here after the customers rewiews on Trip and we really looked forward to it.
We came on a busy night, apparently. Dont be fooled when you enter the front door, this places is supposed to have 4 floors!
We placed our order, two starters, and almost 45 min later we got our food. We asked about it and the waiter appologized and said «it is a busy night, all 4 floors are open!». When we got our starters, they where brilliant.
Then on to the main course. We both ordered hamburger with waffle fries. A new waiting game begun.. didnt check the time, but we waited a long time. When we got the hamburgers the bread was burned and the meat was cold and raw.
We let our waitress know and she instantly gave us more fries and offered free dessert on the house. But we was a bit fed up so we decided to leave and asked for the bill.
The restaurant only made us pay for the starters. We got the drinks (two sodas) for free and we did not pay for the hamburger and the extra price. That was nice gesture, but so it should be. Because of their appologies and how they fixes the bill we dont give the lowest score.
This place has potenial and nice staff. But dont go here on busy nights.

We had a reason meal there. Not sensational but OK. On the way out we noticed the board advertising the 7 course menu including puffin and minke whale. Had we seen that earlier we would never have patronised this establishment. I am shocked and horrified that they would serve this. Others should be aware and stop eating there until they stop this practice

My partner and I came here a drink and got talking to one of the barman. We explained its our first time and wanted to try authentic/local food. We where in for a surprise. The gentleman suggested we try the pictured platter of (from left to right) whale, puffin, fish and then horse. All tasted amazing and glad we did try it. We also had avocado fried which were delicious.
I also cannot drink alcohol but fancied a cocktale. The barman asked what I liked and made a fantastic mock tale.
Would highly recommend.
