We were recommended to eat in this restaurant by the barman next door and we were glad we took his advice. The service was lovely and friendly and the food excellent. We opted for the fish hot pan dishes and they were excellent and full of flavour. Nothing is cheap in Reykjavik but our meal was reasonably priced and would recommend this restaurant for a good hearty Icelandic fish dish.

My wife and I enjoyed an excellent evening meal here. The menu is dominated by fish dishes ( it is a fish restaurant after all) but everything we ate was exquisitely prepared and full of flavour. I had the king prawn starter which came with a perfectly spiced mayonnaise with barley and pickled red onion which worked perfectly together. My wife had the seafood mousse which was equally as good. We both plumped for the fish burger as a main which was anything but ‘ burgerish’
The service was friendly and attentive and the ambience was great. It is probably best to book as it is very popular and a number of diners who turned up without reservations faced up to an hour’s wait. Would definitely recommend and visit again

Loved this visit on our recent visit to Iceland. It is better value than many Icelandic restaurants because you get a lovely big portion of well cooked delicious food. So - still expensive but worth it. I had the lobster soup (langaustines really) which was very tasyy (no bread provided sadly) followed by the wolffish. Huge and delicious portion. The waitress was delightful and the service excellent. Really good experience which I would heartily recommend.

I've been here on the 22nd of January for dinner, along with three guests. We ordered 2 starters and 2 mains, specifying several times, that all orders were to be shared. Well! Both appetizers were served in 3 small portions (3 prawns and 3 pieces of salmon) and therefore impossible to be shared equally. I can understand that the plates are designed in that way, but if you have a minimum knowledge of catering, you should inform the customer. Among the mains, only the Salmon was good, while the renowned plokkfiskur was completelly burnt at the bottom and tasted like expired homogenised food for children. 186 euros for all this disaster. Cherry on the cake, the +25 euros bottle of "Italian" white wine WITH SWIVEL CAP! Painful!

Good mains, average starters. The ‘giant’ prawn starter is definitely false advertising as the prawns served were in no way large. This dish was the most disappointing. The lobster soup was served with too much whipped cream on top. Thankfully the mains were better - the curry fish pan was tasty, the one with capers and tomatoes was slightly over salted. This was the only restaurant in Iceland that charged us for bread and the bread wasn’t great. Wouldn’t be in a rush to go back

It was Saturday night and we hadn't booked so we were put on a table in front of the outside door.. People were constantly coming in asking for tables and standing around near us while they waited which made it feel a bit claustrophobic. The food arrived very quickly and I thought it was pretty bland (I had the salmon burger).
The staff were effiicient but not over friendly. We literally ate our food and left as we didn't feel comfortable there.

Loved everything about this place. It's not an extensive menu but it's worth getting recommendations from the staff. Our server Madera was fabulous. I wanted to try the local "fish mash" which would've been a bit bland on its own but we were advised to share 2 dishes so my husband chose the wolf fish which included 2 fillets and both dishes really complimented each other. For starters we chose lobster soup and prawns. I particularly liked the soup. Lovely ambiance, would definitely recommend.

Did a late lunch/early dinner. They served Salman and the local white fish in frying pans with potatoes and a veggie. The prep was very well done to bring out the best in the fish. Very good meal.

Fantastic!!! We were lucky to get a table even though it was fully booked this Saturday (we came pretty early, around 6pm). Excellent service, delicious wine and the salmon was one of the best we’ve ever tasted. We shared a starter, the salmon fish pan and a dessert. Perfect to share these dishes for two people. Everything was super good but the salmon was outstanding. Highly recommend this place!

The Artic Char is phenomenal, so good I went there twice during my stay in Reykjavík.
Much cheaper at lunch than at dinner (for the same dishes), the artic char is honestly the best dish I ate in Iceland.
Nice interior, friendly staff. Highly recommend.

This restaurant was actually recommended by our flight attendant at Iceland Air. It did not disappoint either. We went there during the lunch hour on New Years Eve. Reservations are not required but if you know your schedule you may drop in and place a reservation......just in case.
Cocktails were very good. My husband ordered a gin and tonic and you most certainly could taste the gin! They also had a nice list of wines.
I ordered the plockfiskur and I would order it all over again if I went back! Their portions are generous and very well made.
If you’re looking for a nice meal this is the place to go to.

We enjoyed a lovely evening meal here during our stay in Iceland. We had a bread basket to start, followed by a fish burger and the seafood pasta. All of the food we had was delicious and the prices were reasonable. The interior of the restaurant was also nice, as was the atmosphere. Our bill came to about £50 for a starter, two mains and two drinks which we were happy to pay given the quality. The majority of the menu were fish dishes and the fish was lovely and fresh.

A great place to have lunch on a terrace facing the cathedral, which is ideal on a sunny day. Though portions are quite small, food is creative with an excellent value lunch menu. Highly recommended.

Visited here whilst on holiday, after having told local friends we’d booked it - they said ‘hmm it’s not the best’ but we thought we’d give it a go.
We waited for a table to be made ready despite booking in advance.
Sat down and waited another 20 minutes to order drinks & food, the soup arrived lukewarm, the salmon was ok but the very strong onion overpowered it. The waiter who was cleaning a table next to us said he was busy setting another table & we had to wait to send it back despite me saying we were waiting to eat and already sat down. WE should have been his priority. It was taken away & microwaved & came back hot.
The mains then came sizzling hot (char for me, plaice for my husband). Mine was over salted (chunks of salt visible, I drank the whole bottle of water on the table with my food just to make it tolerable despite scraping the salt off), and his was heavily drenched in fish sauce. We also had a beer & glass of Pinot Grigio…
Total cost in English money £104…for
not pleasant, over priced food and the poorest service we’ve had since being here.

This restaurant over promises and under delivers. There are attempts towards fusion and nouvelle cuisine. They both fail. The fish original flavor is overpowered by too much salt, butter and marination. Nice presentation but it misses the mark.
Service is rude and the pace of service is even worse.
