Our go to Indian restaurant here in Gothenburg with the nicest and most friendly staff. The food is always yummy and I always end up getting butter chicken and samosas. Their portions are really good too and it's best to share the dishes you order so you can try multiple things. Also if it's a hot day, the mango lassi is a must.

I visited this little gem of a restaurant yesterday with my wife and baby and had the best desi food in Gothenburg. We ordered mix grill, grilled lamb chops, and butter chicken and everything was amazing. Later we had Masala Chaaye and that was so refreshing. Really liked the ambiance and the wonderful staff especially the service Mr.Rafaqat Ali gave us. Mr.Singh was so welcoming and reminded me of the warm hospitality we have for people in Punjab in India & Pakistan. I would highly recommend everyone to taste their delicious food and experience the wonderful hospitality from Punjab! If you are visiting on weekend, I would advise you to pre-book the table as there is limited space. We will definitely visit again if we came to Gothenburg 😊 Cheers!

We were 8 friends out for an evening meal. From the start to the finish we were taken very good care of. All the staff are friendly and courteous. The environment is tasteful and calm. The food was amazing (it is difficult to please a multicultural group who wanted very mild to very spicy food). We had a range of dishes to share including meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. The staff added in spicy pickles and sauces and mild yoghurt sauce so we could adapt to our tastes. There was more than enough to eat and we were given boxes to take home the leftovers. I am very used to Indian food and was very pleased with the food. So much so that I bought a Royal Menu to take home for the next days dinner. The price was comparable to general Swedish Restaurant prices (For Brits - be prepared to pay more here than your usual Indian restaurant in the UK).

The area where the restaurant is located are "smacked" with competition. You can find almost any cuisine available on earth around this area, which makes it so difficult but also so enjoyable. As a native, growing up in Gothenburg the (specific) location of this restaurant (facing a busy street and the near proximity to the old harbour) is not that exiting, but it is ok. That is not the reason why you should come here (or avoid it), it is the genuine food (plenty in the serving), together with a humble and caring owner. Me and my sons had a mixed Kabab (chicken and lamb) as a starter, which came in four different colours. They all looked, smelled and tasted fantastic together with the sideorder of two different Rajtas. As main course we had Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Rogan-Kashmir and Butter Chicken, together with Garlic Nan, Sweet Nan (forgot the name) and chutney and pickles......everything was spot-on perfect. I have been to many countries, visiting restaurants with native Indian owners, that claims to serve genuine Indian food (Including India), and this, hands down, is one of my best experiences so far. Cannot more than give this restaurant my "thumbs up"......and hope that some other people, that are craving for Indian food, will have the same experience I had.

826704885 I am not sure why this restaurant is so much highly rated. There are other Indian restaurant like Indian Bistro and Himalaya who are much much better. We went there for lunch at 2:35 pm as the closing time was 3 pm. They said they are closing soon, so we said that it's fine we will got to some other restaurant. Then they said it's ok and agreed to give paneer masala instead of three different dishes as we have done the same in Indian bistro. what we got was paneer spinach (inspite of telling them that we dont eat spinach) and when we brought this , then the women there started yelling at us that we did a favour to you by serving lunch as it was closing time. And we gave you extra dish instead of palak paneer which is a complete lie. and also said you took so many biscuits because of our indian mentality. We took biscuits as the kid won't eat any lunch but why do we have to explain it if it was included. They took away all the salad also so that we can't take any. About taste: this is not because we had a personal bad experience but genuinely as a food enthusiast, lover (and I cook alright myself) I can say it was the worst food I had in any restaurant period. In Gothenburg or anywhere else. The Naan were soft inspite of telling them that make them crisp. The chicken gravy had a taste which i can't describe. vegetarian items were of bad taske they mixed all the beans which is no Indian/Asian dish. All the item were sweet including mint chutney which was a new thing for me. They don't know how to treat their customer. So visit if you are ready to can risk your self esteem.

We visited Daawat on the 19th of juli and we really didn’t regret that decision. We had a three course meal for a bargain of a price. It’s the best Indian food we’d ever had and the staff was joyful and sweet. You won’t regret visiting Daawat!!!

My girlfriend and I have eaten at this welcoming Indian restaurant several times now. In my opinion it’s by far the best Indian restaurant I’ve experienced in Gothenburg. The food is very authentic and delicious. They have a good menu and the presentation is superb. Add to this a lively ambiance and really top-notch service I can say with some confidence that you’re in for a very enjoyable evening. I ordered a traditional Vindaloo last visit, which was great and my girlfriend ordered a beef curry, which was also very tasty. The service was perfect with just the right amount of interaction, care and attention to detail. When we visited the restaurant was full, another sign that this establishment gets it right! For me, it’s not worth now trying any other Indian in the Gothenburg area. A big thank you to the staff, we shall be visiting again soon!! Daniel & Fridah

It's not easy to find good halal Lahori food in Sweden. I ordered Bhuna lamb and Butter chicken, which was by far the most authentic I have had in Stockholm, Gothenburg and rest of Sweden. The waiters and owner are very friendly too and this only makes the experience even better. Do visit!

My husband always speaks so highly about 'daawat' the name itself is so inviting, and this this exactly how we felt when we went in, not only it was so beautiful and cosy inside, but it felt like you are in a authentic restaurant in India! The aroma just made you want to grab the menu straight away, and the sorts of names on the titles made you want to order everything because everything sounded so delicious! With so much choice.. I loved how each dish had its name and style such as pani puri shots with vodka.. Dessert-taste of your lovers lips, the children's menu had Akira special (which the dish was named after their daughter) which I thought was so sweet! You can see how much thought and creativity was put into everything. Not only that but the presentation of the food was beautiful, the sizzler caught everyone's attention and my husband Loved it!! The daal makhani was litteraly makhani silky and creamy! The paneer just melts in the mouth too and they said they make it fresh!! I coudnt stop taking pictures and videos of everything.. Even the dessert was so different, we got a sizzling hot brownie with smoke, which gave it an amazing aroma, the caramel sauce was also homemade by the wife with ginger and chilly with a frosted sweet candy on the top where you see the peices of the chilly and garlic inside, I can't stop talking about how impressive this was! 10/0 Highly recommend, go there once and you'll want to go there again and again.. ❤️🙏

Great food, excellent service and value for money sums it up beautifully. We had booked a table on our daughters birthday and was met by a decorated table and smiling staff. Our waiter was very helpful and guided us through the extensive vegetarian menu to one of the best Indian food experiences we've had. A must for any lover of Indian cuisine!

After 10 years in London and 6 in and around Brick Lane it’s refreshing to find an Indian restaurant with similar profiles to what I’m used to. Great food, well executed. Fresh and fragrant spices adding to definition between each dish. Service was second to one. Personalised and very knowledgable, made us feel at home from moment we arrived. Will be back.

In summary - amazing food, and incredible service. We ordered the butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, rogan e kashmir and jhinga hara masala, as well as pakora and garlic naan. Each of the dishes were great, but I do really recommend the last two, and both the bread and the appetiser were much enjoyed. By the end of the meal we were absolutely stuffed, but wished we could’ve eaten more since it was so good. We had a slight issue with one of our orders, but the staff quickly and graciously helped us. They also went through the dishes in great detail since a member of our group has a food sensitivity. Overall we had a lovely experience and will definitely return.

As a British Indian growing up eating my muns curry's and aslo eating out then I am a fussy curry eater. Living in Sweden for the past 15 years I can say that there is only one place in Lund I would recommend however I can now say this beats Lund. Service is great. Host is polite and welcoming and the lamb dish and starter I had were exceptional. I was pleasantly surprised will make this my local even if I live 3 hours away., 👍👍👍👍👍
