I ran across Hotel de Goudfazant while trying to put together a trip for my family, and am glad I did. Set inside an expansive space, it's unlike any place else I've ever eaten. The food was really good, and the service laid-back but efficient;...they let us take our time and were very helpful with suggestions for both food and drinks. The vegetarians were as satisfied as the carnivores were, which is always the measure of a successful dining experience. Our fellow diners ran the gamut from the very young to the very-not-so-young, and everyone seemed to be having as much fun as we were. We saw a very famous actress there enjoying dinner with friends, and nobody apart from the people at her table were paying any attention to her, which must've been nice for someone with her visibility. Highly recommended, especially if you're looking for something a little off the beaten path.More
Very cool setting in an old auto repair unit by the water great food and super hip young crowd. Definitely worth going out of the way for.
What a find, not somewhere you would walk past, you need to know about it and seek it out and it is well worth it. The staff were amazing, very friendly and efficient. They didn’t have a menu in English but this was translated for...me, so no problem there. The food was amazing, beautifully presented and delicious. Great to have an open kitchen and I positioned myself perfectly to watch all the preparation and plating up taking place there, great attention to detail. I started with the shrimp cocktail with a langoustine on top - delicious. The main was the red fish served on a bed of asparagus - delicious. For afters I went for the selection of 3 cheeses which came with walnut bread - delicious. And they had a very impressive wine list. What a find.More
Perfect dinner with the children in an authentic atmosphere ,you dine in a auto repair garage near waterside more than 100 people eating nearby you ( big place ) many of them are locals the menu is not so crowded and all the options taste...very wellMore
A second visit to this stylish, unusual and lively space. As previously, a bit of a trek to get there but well worth the walk. Food is excellent (although an English version of the menu would be helpful). Service was absolutely great, and the cavernous...industrial setting is never less than interesting - a great people-watching venue. Our only formative feedback relates to the winelist: So far as we could tell, every single item on the list is either bio-dynamic or organic. This may be great for the planet but, in some instances - especially amongst the whites - it does very little for the flavour of the wine. Maybe a small 'conventionally vinified' selection would be nice. However, we had a great evening and would have been all set to take to the table-tennis table had we had more time to spare. An Uber back to our hotel in the Museum Quarter was about Euro 22.More
Great experience, space and food. I’ve been here a couple of times - once for a wedding and also for dinner. Arriving by boat makes it even more exciting. Don’t be fooled by the names; it’s in a giant warehouse - I believe it’s an...old garage. The food and service matches the excellence of the space.More
We’ve been recommended to dine in this place by locals since no centrally located places could accommodate our big group. We had to use online translators as no menu in English was available and waiter couldn’t assist to the whole our group. The food was...good, but not enough to come there again. Interior didn’t add any other vibe than being in the service garage which personally I don’t find an interesting experience.More
Great atmosphere in a large warehouse, industrial looking decor. Very good food, friendly staff, bio wines. Easy ferry trip from Central station. About 65 euro pp, including wine.
Good food very tasty. Good concept of 3 dishes to choose from a very creative menu. No menu in English but waiters help in finding the best optio
Better than I expected, the ambience was very cool, a really nioce setting, busy and bustling and excellent service. Our waitress was a bit curse to start with, but that canged A clever menu, well priced and well cooked. I will definately return with my...wife and friends Worth the drive out there, Im not sure what public transport is like to the restaurant, but I would say a cab or Uber is worth the cost to eat hereMore
There are lots of repurposed industrial buildings in the part of Amsterdam but this one feels like the workers just downed tools and walked out yesterday. The dining area is like a canteen with paper tablecloths and red plastic chairs. On the Friday we visited...the restaurant was busy very soon after opening. The service was good. The wine list was limited and quite expensive. The food was excellent and very tasty we had a main of black chicken and duck breast and cleaned our plates of very morsel.More
On a sunday night we sat down for a lovely dinner in this un-restaurant-like environment. Cars and a huge chandelier are but two of the cool aspects in theis interior that used to be a garage. We simply couldn't choose: snow crab or oysters...? Duck,...chicken, steak...? Everything seemed delicious and the things we ordered all were. Staff is swift, friendly and honest in their reccomendations.More
Dined here on our final night in Amsterdam. The setting was quirky. The food was delicious. Wonderfully helpful staff.
Perfect food in a robust and industrial scenery. It’s not star restaurant quality but the quality of the food is way beyond average. Definitely a place to spend an enjoyable evening with family or friends. Prices are very reasonable.
