I noticed on TripAdvisor that this place had moved to Westerstraat 116 , I found it easily enough and was glad I did. I can't remember having better battered cod, I went one day and loved it so much I had to go again the...More

Stumbled across this hidden gem in Jordaan on a recent trip to Amsterdam. Table seating is very limited, but well worth the wait. The first time we passed by the fish shop, it was busy, but we stopped in and asked when a table might...More

Shop was easy to find. We arrived during lunch hour rush and food tours. Store asked us to wait or come back. We decided to order fish & chips and raw herring. Fish/kiebbling was the best we had in Amsterdam. We had already tried frites...More

You will have to travel an awful long way to find better battered cod than at the Urker Fish Shop. It's absolutely superb. Freshly cooked and beautifully seasoned. There aren't many seats in the shop, but they're more than happy to prepare as a take-out...More

Located in the Jordaan area of Amsterdam, Urker Viswinkel had the best beer battered fish I've ever had. We first tried the fried cod "kibbeling" during our Amsterdam Food Walking Tour. It was so good that we decided to go back for lunch another day...More

Greetings Ivka, Glad you enjoyed your time at de Urker Viswinkel! Our store is inspired by old-school Dutch fish stores around the country and since you were nice enough to give us a 5-star review, we'll take your 'weird' first impression as a compliment from...More

Found this place after a quick google search. Realised it was an actual fishmonger (that served food) and not a restaurant. Luckily, we managed to nab a seat outside in the sunshine. The kibberling was nice and crunchy but a tiny bit salty for my...More

Hey there, Amari B! First off, thanks for reviewing our restaurant! Funnily enough we've heard our kibbeling can be too salty at times, despite our attempts to salt all portions equally. Just incase you ever visit in the future; just ask for less salt or...More

How do they make them so good? If there is one place I would recommend in Amsterdam for lunch (or tea) it is this place. Great service and just unbelievably good food!

Description
One stop shop for the Dutch fish experience, right in the centre of Amsterdam. Famous for our herring and kibbeling (Dutch-style fish and chips), but also other classics like smoked eel, smoked mackerel, shrimp, calamari and mussels, the Urker Fish Shop delivers the full range of traditional Dutch snacks in a local setting that you've never tried before. Perfect for lunch or a quick bite. Located close to the Anne Frank House, save yourself the fish cart experience and treat yourself to a freshly-cut herring among some Amsterdam natives. Directions: Standing with your back to the Anne Frank House, across the canal you should spot Cafe de Twee Zwaantjes or the Cheese Museum. Take a left after the cheese museum,, and then your first right to cross the canal again on a small bridge and walk past Cafe Sonneveld (restaurant with a red-and-white bannister). Store is on the right-hand corner.
