L' Evangelista is an experience you should try while visiting Verona and definitely justifies the trip even if you're just nearby. It's been the third time for me and my girlfriend and each and every time every course's been phenomenal, although nothing beats the poached eggwith truffle and foie gras - absolutely amazing. Top notch wines are available and the overall price is very reasonable for the quality of the food offered.
Hospitality is at its best and Simone makes you feel at home while enjoying a great meal.
Keep it up with the great work guys!

We came to Verona for our wedding anniversary and we were so glad we picked this restaurant. Immediately as we walked in the door, service was warm and friendly. At every point in the evening we were treated like honoured guests.
We chose the fall fixed-price menu. Six dishes appropriate for the season and made with local ingredients (i.e., no cold salad, thankfully). Our host, Simone, carefully explained each dish, which added to our enjoyment. At the end of the meal, we ordered espresso. I had noticed that other tables had been getting made-in-house cookies with their coffee, so I said “Please, no cookies, we’re too full.” Very wisely, he brought espressos with a single buttery cookie—to share. It was perfect.
The Cangrande is also an enoteca. I recommend asking your server about wine for your meal—you won’t be disappointed.

We spent one day in Verona and had lunch in this amazing restaurant. The food was incredible and the waiter, Simone, was so nice and helpful. He translated the menu into English and Spanish for me and my partner and recommended very delicious plates.
Overall is great value considering this is the best meal of our entire trip.

After a three hour train trip from Merano I booked for dinner early as I'd read it was good. When I arrived after a huge hail storm (which followed me down from South Tyrol) all the guests sat indoors. Got in first and got a nice table in the corner in a very lovely dining room. The owner/chef is fabulous (at least l think he was the owner) and very chatty and passionate about his food. He spoke perfect English and took my order of octopus salad then bigoli pasta. I started with prosecco and the waiter filled my glass with ice cubes to chill the glass then removed the ice and poured. I figured I was in prosecco territory so why not. It was divine. They served me water, bread and grissini. Even though I ordered ala-carte I was served a tiny gaspacho soup, then my order of octopus salad came which was served warm. Both were delicious. Then the waiter served me another treat of a thick yoghurt with chopped peaches. Sumptuous! The bigoli pasta with three cheeses and Sicilian red prawns arrived and that was absolutely amazing! I wanted more it was so delicious with so many different tastes in there I could have had a second. I then had lime tart which was to die for. In the end I was given a glass of grappa and a small biscuit made of almond and maize from Mantua. €60 for 3 courses, cover charge and two glasses of prosecco so excellent value for top quality food, service and a gorgeous dining room. Everything was fantastic and I recommend it but do book. It's a little gem!

We had an an amazing experience at the restaurant. Every course was superb and even though we didn’t order the tasting menu we were still given little extras. The food and service were really at the same level as a Michelin star restaurant.

We had a wonderful evening at L'Evangelista. Simone took a lot of time to look after us and was able to recommend us great wines to go with the excellent menu. We will definitely come back again during our next stay in Verona!

After reading all reviews, we chose L'Evangelista for our wedding anniversary. We went A La Carte rather than the tasting dishes. This was gourmet cooking at a high level with matching service (and price!) All dishes were explained with care and cooked to perfection but for me the food was maybe too complex and fussy with too much saucing overpowering the main flavours of each dish.

We really felt cared of at this place although it was packed (by 2020 standards...).
Had one terra and one mare degustation menu with wine pairing and were satisfied!
Of course, this does not come for free, but we were offered some of the wines and the prices were OK for what they served.
Definitely they deserve a high rating!

In a city filled with near-identical mid-priced ristorante (most of which are perfectly fine, if uninspired), L'Evangelista stands out. According to Simone, the restaurant's ebullient manager, L'Evangelista has been open for 18 months and at the top of TripAdvisor's list for the last 15 of those months. It's easy to see why. No chewy calamari here. L'Evangelista offers creative fare like char-seared tender octopus tentacle, cold celery froth, chili sauce, parsley mayonnaise, citrus marinated glasswort. If that's not enough, how about horsemeat tartare, toasted hazelnuts, matured cheese in whisky and barley malt, paprika. The poached egg laid on toasted pan brioche and foie gras, frothed parmesan cream,
black truffle sauce and a balsamic reduction, was one of the best, most original dishes to have crossed my palate in a very long time. When we got the check for €130 (two people, no alcohol) I thought it was a mistake. Simone, you could charge a lot more for this!

Just left here from one of the best dinners I have had after living in Italy for a year! I would highly recommend getting the Tasting of Evangelista.
We stumbled upon this restaurant by accident as it is not located out in the main hustle and bustle of the courtyard. You’ll find the added quiet at privacy is a great quality to this restaurant, only made better by the genuine kindness and enthusiasm of the staff.
Each time a new dish came out, or drink was served, you felt you were getting another piece of Verona set before you.
The greatest rarity was the authentic joy you received from the manager Simone. He clearly puts his whole life into sharing his restaurant with each table, and welcomes all to his family for a meal.

Everything was perfect, from start to finish. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by Simone who made us feel like we were his only guests, taking our coats and speaking to us on a first name basis, I felt as though I’ve known him for years! This immediately made us so comfortable. We opted for the a la carte menu and started off with a very nice glass of Italian sparkling wine, along with our starters which were delicious, especially the Equilibrio which is their specialty, amazing flavours that came Together spectacularly , I was scraping the last bits off the plate to make sure I make the most it it! For the mains we had the Guinea fowl and Picanha steak, both cooked to perfection and by the way, the plating of each plate was like a work of art. Paired with a nice bottle of red wine, it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life. For dessert, you need to try the tiramisu, a delicious dessert to end a great night! In between courses they also got us complementary amuse bouche, nice pre starters and topped it off with home made bon bons and Italian liquor which was the cherry on the cake!
We loved your constant attentive service and amazing food and would recommend it to anyone. To Simone, thank you for a wonderful night!

Turning up for our reservation at 8pm on a Thursday, I was surprised that the restaurant was nearly empty but that soon changed as it soon filled up - I would say that you should call ahead and book (English and other languages are spoken). “Meat” and “fish” tasting menus are available, as well as à la carte. A point worth noting is that your table has to opt for either tasting or à la carte, but you don’t all have to have the same tasting menu. Our party had a mix of meat and fish. The food was a delight with both, although for me, the highlights were the octopus dish and the dessert. The wine list was extensive and prices as you would expect, considering the quality. From our arrival until we left, service was very friendly and efficient, without being rushed.
