Really great food and one of the waitresses is just sunshine. You can't reserve inside, which makes it really messy when the weather is bad and you happened to reserve outside. Something to adjust to manage expectations. The home made fries are the best. If the schnitzel was veal instead of pork, it would be heavenly.

The drawcard here is the outside seating with the wonderful view of the Schlern, but everything else is pretty damn good as well. The food is fantastic as well as the service which is warm & friendly!

This was one and only place where we experienced a welcoming atmosphere in Compatsch. The food is tasty, reasonably and homemade/grown. The owner waits tables and works efficiently, greeted us warmly and treated us attentively through our entire visit. We went there two nights in a row and would have gone for a third but we ran low on cash/Euro and the bankomats in Compatsch wouldn't accept our bankcard transactions. Thoroughly impressed with this establishment.

Horrible service, just horrible. Skip this place, there are much better places around. We waited for one hour for our food..and then they bring one meal - for one person , and after 20 min other. 🙄

We are on the Seiser Alm frequently with our bikes. We started coming here last summer and liked it so much we began bringing others. The food is all made by hand, sourced primarily from the owners' family farm in Völs (I've seen it, it's real): meat, dairy, apple juice, vegetables, other fruit, etc.. The dishes are authentic, fresh, and served in a beautifully rustic way. I've never seen Americans take to Knödel and Kaiserschmarren so readily. In fact, normally I would discourage them from ordering them. This is the place to try them if you haven't tried them, think you don't like them or want to introduce others to them. Here they're flavourful, rich and buttery--not bland, doughy or dry as most places (sadly) serve them. This is true for all of the dishes coming out of this kitchen--well prepared without haste. ((I hike and enjoy going to all the refuge huts around the Dolomites; they're great, but a lot of them serve up cafeteria-style versions of traditional dishes which is fine if you are in a hurry, but maybe not the best representations of the local cuisine. Forget about those experiences--nothing like that here.)) Huber Schwaige has a very central/easy to reach location on the road, which is part of why it's so handy. The inside is small but the terrace is lovely and equipped for colder weather, which is good because a highlight is dining with direct views of the Schlern massif. If you need to stay close to Compatsch, this spot has the convenience of the base without the hecticness (ugliness?) of the gondola station or parking area. It feels more connected to the meadow/landscape and certainly has better quality food than any obvious alternatives. Kids (and some adults like me...) can be entertained by the playground or the animals. Finally, you'd be hard put to find more diligent, charming, or lovable South Tyrollean hosts than the Huber brothers, Michael and Benjamin. If you are in Compatsch, walk the extra 200m on Trail 4 (or stay on the road) and go eat at their place.

We came here for a drink, mainly because it was slightly further out from the busy central cafe. The view was truly spectacular from the balcony and it was a very relaxing place to sit. We ordered our drinks and food from the very friendly waitress. The food was good, but bread quite stale hence the review score.

This is a casual pub on the side of the road in Compatsch, with a friendly hosts, great food, and a fantastic view from their porch. There are more tables outside on the porch than the 4 tables inside, and it is a great place to eat, sip wine or beer, and enjoy the view of the Schlern and Seiser Alm after hiking. I had the best pesto of our trip there, and my sweetie had the perfect wienerschnitzel. It is run by 2 friendly brothers – one cooks and the other takes care of you, and they seem to welcome everyone. We were joined by other couples, parents with children, groups of people with a dog, and even a man with a horse! All were provided a beer or whatever they wanted, even the horse! I came back the next day for more pesto, and they had run out, but we still enjoyed just sitting there for another enjoyable dinner.

Fantastic dinner and amazing staff. Laura was so kind to us, she speaks 4 languages quite well. Great place for authentic and really well made local food. Dinner was delicious, satisfying but not overly heavy. We even came back later for schnapps and card games. Cool outdoor fireplace. Great view of the seiser alm from the patio.

We had dinner in the local pub/restaurant. It started raining we sat inside at one of the four tables. The food was good - the children's meals were also delicious. We got a complimentary schnapps.

Clean place, beautiful views and good food. But what gives the 5th star is kindness; I have rarely found such kindness and attention to the customer: well done!

Beautiful location, away from mass tourism where you can eat really well. Excellent quality of the dishes and fair prices considering the context in which we find ourselves
