Me and my girlfriend, following a friend's recommendation, had an amazing meal in this typical Roman osteria, located on one of the most scenic streets of Rione Monti. The atmosphere is very homey and rustic, the waitresses very fun and endowed with that authenticity and...honesty that only real inhabitants of the Eternal City can boast. It was really the kind of experience we were looking for when dining in Roma: pasta alla carbonara was the best I had during my stay, my partner's parmigiana was just as delicious. We will visit again!More

Was recommended this restaurant by a friend. Got there and was told to have a seat outside by a really nice waiter called Gino (who was great the full time) but the lady with dark curly hair (assuming she is the manager) shouted at us...in Italian when we made it clear we only spoke English. Then told us to go inside, menu was in Italian and we didn’t really understand, Gino tried his best to explain but they really should have an English version. Once we ordered we were sat inside, ZERO ATMOSPHERE. A table was then moved behind was to accommodate another party which meant social distancing wasn’t been followed. Whilst ordering we order Mozzarella for started (very over priced €10 for one scoop and salad), we were then asked would we like bread we said yes but didn’t know this/were told that this was €2 extra. For mains we ordered carbonara which was very standard and have tasted nicer. The whole time we weren’t asked was everything okay and we’re getting looks from the dark haired lady. The restaurant was busy and I understand the stress but we were put in a corner whilst a larger group pushed towards us, AGAIN LET ME STRESS NO SOCIAL DISTANCING. Lot better out there, DO NOT GO! Would have left from the start only for Gino!More

We were recommended this restaurant by a tour guide and we had to book as it gets busy in the outside eating area. The service is great with the waiter translating the the menu and providing wine recommendations which were good. Only reason I can’t...give the place five stars is because we both found the main course (carbonara) quite salty. This is no doubt the way it is meant to be done so no fault of the restaurant, just personal taste. However other places we ate in were not as salty as this. We had a sharing plater for starter which was really good.More

OMG, what a fantastic place. Book well ahead as all the locals will have booked the place out well ahead , and of course the locals know where to go. Not haut cuisine but great food for a fantastic price . Not a place for...a view but if looking for great pasta /dishes at good price and good atmosphere this is the place for you .More

Personally didn’t have the best meal here. Sadly the carbonara was insanely salty we didn’t finish it sharing between 2; perhaps there was a mistake with our dish as it seems to be highly recommended otherwise

We dined at La Carbonara on our first trip to Rome, in 2013. Revisited during our winter sojourn in the Eternal City. After multiple visits to Rome, my perceptions of the city have changed, but this is a reliable option with friendly service and tasty...pasta. Yes they are catering to tourists, but they do it with style. Lunch for two was 53 euro.More

My girlfriend wanted to have carbonara for Valentine’s Day, so I had been looking for a nice restaurant the day before and found this one. We both had to wait for 15 minutes to enter, and there were many customers waiting already, so I was...sure it was quite famous at the very least. Personnel was lovely as they offered us a bottle of water to apologise for the wait. The waiter was very fun and friendly, too. All food was crazy good: we both had a Roman artichoke for appetisers, crunchy and tasty. Obviously we had to get carbonara as first dish, and we understood the reason why it was so famous too: the pasta was absolutely perfect, with guanciale ham and eggs being carefully cooked. For Valentine’s Day we got a slice of red fruit chocolate cake and enjoyed it a lot, even though the pasta was quite filling. We left extremely satisfied!More

I was here 4 years ago and it was so exceptional it was the one and only place I rebooked for this trip. Staggered to see some negative reviews as it does not match my experience now or then. It is a great buzzing, busy...Roman restaurant. We were well looked after this time exactly as I remember from the last visit. Food and wine is exceptional and there is something great about the theatre of sitting amongst Roman's out for a meal. We had the Carbonara Fritti starter, Carbonara (of course) and Tiramisu and Cheesecake. All were delicious. So, the food, wine and service were all excellent. This will be the first restaurant I book next time trip too.More

The bar staff offer you little nibbles while you drink but you cannot order your meal to be eaten at the bar.
