Great view take the lift from street level and get a seat with a view no frills bar l wanted to return at sunset but the weather was not right

Best view of Matera by far. Been two or three times in the past few years and never disappointed - but we could not find our way in at Christmas as there was a concert being set up outside. Lovely building.

Stopped here for an afternoon drink and was amazed to find that the cafe was virtually empty despite the amazing city view. I agree that the elevator ride up is not so desirable and would recommend the stairs! We has a glass of wine and...mixed antipasti and delighted in the tranquility of the cafe area. The prices were far too cheap considering the view so all in all, can definitely recommend.More

Located 5 or so stories above the plaza Vittorio Vento (via elevator); this restaurant provides inside seating overlooking the piazza and outdoor tables on a patio. We dropped in while waiting for a tour of the city cistern (highly recommended). Cappuccino and the chicken salad...were just fine, nothing special at all - but they shared their wifi password and let us occupy a window table for 1 1/2 hours. Yes it was a slow day but still ... no problem giving this cafe 4 stars for good behavior to foreigners!More

After a long tour of the Sassi section, a small, quite cafe was what we were looking for. The Terrazza dell' Annunizata Cafe was perfect. Upstairs away from the madding crowds below you could relax, enjoy salad, a variety of paninies and a cold local...brew. Quick service with a willingness to translate the menu for everyone. Coffee, snack, drink? A day well spent! After exploring both areas of the ever impressive Sassi di Matera thoroughly (Sasso Caveoso & Sasso Barisano) + the winding roads from churches to Cathedral above + going down to the gorge below, walking along the river, crossing...the bridge & up to the caves above --- return all the way back up to the charming piazza Vittorio Veneto. Take a well deserved snack from TERRAZZA DELL'ANNUNZIATA (caffetteria gelateria stuzzicheria) whilst enjoying the square and the Sassi di Matera from above. We were lucky to take the whole scene in whilst it was getting dark and all seemed magical. The typical dish of CIALLEDDA went down very very well! Initially the Palazzo was an old convent dedicated to st Annunziata 1748 for the Dominican order of Santa Maria la Nova. It served also as the Town Court, housed the Town Registry offices, infant schools & boarding schools. Nowadays it is a home to the Multimedia Library and Cinema. Don't miss out on the 25min tour inside the cistern beneath the said square.More

Above the town library. The views are wonderful, the service is excellent. We had lunch there quite a bit with plenty of 'light bites' to choose from. Salads were particularly good. Staff were always willing to oblige.
