An enchanting location, made all the more unique by owner Pietro's desire to deliver a profound sensory experience to his clients. The architecture of the restaurant is beautiful, the sculptures and historical photographs remarkable, and the post-dinner visit of the various restaurant rooms (which feel...more like art galleries) truly memorable. The cuisine is a modern revisitation of classic Matera food, served skillfully by the very professional waitstaff. Highly recommended.More

Very interesting dinner and art experience. Modern take on local traditional dishes. Friendly and formal, we didn’t know the extent of the cave. Various sculptures based on Greek mythology are carved throughout the restaurant. The owner, Piertro, has generations family history is this cave. It’s...a wild meeting point of the ancient and the modern. Have to mention that Daniel Craig was a guest while filming No Time To Die. Gifted Pierto with an inscribed bottle of Champagne. It on display in the bar. Pretty cool.More

We had a wonderful evening for dinner! The food and the service is impeccable. It's a bit pricier than other places within the same vacinity, but well worth it!! You really need to check this place out.

Our family of four enjoyed an amazing dining experience. The service was outstanding. Every dish was delicious. They have traditional local favorites and other wonderful Italian dishes which are sublimely elevated without being fussy. The excellent food and beautiful surroundings clearly reflect the passion of...the friendly and charming owner. This is a dining experience our family will always remember and one by which all future fine dining will be judged. Thank you for a great night in Matera.More

Caved place, elegant, minimalist décor, with Greek mythological inspiration. Following the waiter’s suggestion, we had 3 different antipasti, that turned out to be too much: Fava purée, meatballs and fried peppers. I couldn’t find the meat in the meatballs, so maybe it was a different...dish that what I had thought. The fried peppers were not hot, even sweet, with a very light flavor. My husband’s pork fillet in apple sauce was wonderful; my beef fillet with mushrooms sauce and wine reduction was good, but the pork was better. Ask for the owner’s tour. In the bar room, you’ll see caryatid like columns, representing female figures like Cassandra and Briseida. In another room, engraved on a wall, Demeter saves Persephone from Hades. In all the floor, you can follow Ariadnne’s thread in deep red stones on the turf floor. There are many different rooms where events and private dinners can be held.More

I took my family of 5 as a lunch treat on the 26th December. Food was very disappointing and each of us left most of the 2nd course food on the plates. At this point we didn't want to complete our meal with the desserts...as the food was of poor quality and taste. The bill came at €380 for a 2 course lunch and a bottle of wine, indeed a very bad value for money. Didn't mind to pay this amount if the food was good. We highly advise not to go to this restaurant! Following this experience our family had a delicious dinner in the evening and lunch the next day in Le Bubbole restaurant that was high standard and very good value for money.More

My adult son and I had a wonderful experience here. I don’t usually review our dining experiences but this one was simply exceptional in every way. From the moment we entered this beautiful place, we were treated like royalty. Our friendly waiter even asked about...any food allergies we might have to ensure we had a good dining experience! We ordered the eggplant parm for starters (very good) followed by the Grilled podolica fillet with pistachio pesto which was perfectly prepared and presented in a way that was as pleasing to the eye as was to the pallet. Juicy and tender, we both agreed, it was one the best tasting beef meals either of us has ever tasted, The Local pork fillet in an almond and herb crust was delicious with its celery cream base, also prepared to perfection. The desserts ( rum and pear nougat and coconut mousse ) did not disappoint and the perfect way to end of our meal. The owner introduced himself at the end of our meal and he took great interest in hearing of our satisfaction. He spoke of the history and creation of his fine establishment which is a wonderful story. For our last night in beautiful Matera, it was a experience we will fondly remember!More

We were looking forward to this meal and were disappointed. My first course, a monkfish ravioli, was quite good but my husband’s gnocchi was relatively tasteless. Our second courses were reversed - his was good, a beef fillet, and mine was not. Mine, a octopus...dish was rubbery and the sauce did nothing to enhance the dish. It was an unfortunate experience since the staff were so attentive and welcoming. The physical space was dramatic but could not make up for the mediocre cuisine.More

From the minute we stepped into Dedalo (Matera italy) we were immersed in an extraordinary experience. A friendly waiter ushered us to a table amongst the arching white washed walls and curved ceilings that frame the spectacular modern decore of this restaurant. The food was...really good. I had a delicious and light fish dish followed by a heavenly sponge cake. Both specialties of the region. However what really puts this restaurant apart from anywhere else you may have ever been are the magnificent sculptures that seem to grow from the supporting beams through out the space, huge and imposing. These all tell a story from Persephone of the underworld to Briseis, Hades skulks in a corner. Don't worry they are all white washed and firmly carved into the pillars. There's more too, which the owner will cheerfully share as he did for us. So when you have the chance to visit Matera, a remarkable old city built into the cliffs in the south of Italy, make sure you don't miss dining at Dedalo.More

We were visiting Matera om honeymoon. We were lucky enough to go to Dedalo at the beginning of our trip. There are many lovely restaurants around but we soon realised this was the best and therefore visited a 2nd evening during our 5 night stay....Staff are lovely, food is amazing and the restaurant is stunning. We had a tour from the owner who was just so friendly. 5*, we will definitely go back. Thanks to all.More
