We turned up on a Saturday evening at 7pm knowing we may not get a table but luckily we were accommodated. Husband tried snails for the first time and enjoyed them. I had mushrooms to start. Also very nice and beautifully presented. Both had cassoulet...for main. Husband loved it, I thought it was nice - a very heavy and meaty dinner for a warm summer night! Dessert was lovely and nicely presented. Waiter who served us was very quiet. Not unfriendly but said very little and preferred to point and make hand gestures than speak. Our French isn't fluent, and we fully appreciate that we cannot expect to be spoken to in English but some interaction, even if we didn't fully understand, would have been nice! Even just a smile!More

We did a Google search for best Cassoulet in Carcassonne and Le Trivalou came up. The first night we tried to get in without reservations and were unable to. So we made a reservation for the next night. The Cassoulet, the wine, the atmosphere were...all divine. I can't wait to return.More

We arrived to be greeted by a virtually empty restaurant-only two ladies were in! We were greeted by the friendly waiter and shown to our table. We couldn’t believe that within 10 minutes of our arrival it was full and they were turning people away....After we ordered we could see through to the kitchen and our meal being prepared. The food was amazing and brilliantly presented, the house wine wonderful! We were only sorry it was our last night! We would recommend getting in early or booking for this little gem of a restaurant!More

Small friendly and unpretentious. You could easily walk past this tiny restaurant without realising what a find it is. The service was friendly, multilingual and effortless. The menu looked simple as it was small and compact. The food was outstanding. By far the best we...have eaten in France over quite a few visits. Hubby had the duck salad followed by the chicken, whilst I had the mushrooms followed by the mackerel risotto. Doesn’t sound stunning put like that, but absolutely lush. The wine was great too.More

This restaurant was close to the apartment where we were staying and the menu looked good so in we went. The main course of Duck confit was delicious, Duck cooked perfect and a large piece at that. nicely presented with a potato mash and pea puree...and onions. for desert i had the Catalan brulee. This was sensational, with pistacio and a more creamy taste than a tradition brulee. I plumped for a 2016 Cobiers(Chateu Aiguillou) and it was an outstanding wine for a very reasonable price. All in all the best meal of our trip.More

Small and informal but great food. The set menus are good value and the service friendly. Steaks very good. Nice local wine list.

this is a tiny hole in the wall, with one waiter/maitre’d. It is a great value, especially for this town. good wine by the carafe. The duck cassoulet was the best I’ve had, so rich, melt in your mouth. My wife liked the snails, prep...was excellent, but they are smaller, and require some work to get them out of the shell. Authentic. They were turning people away in Sept., so reserve.More

This place was AMAZING. Hands down the best risotto I’ve ever had. So creamy and the fish was so tender. Located on a really cute little street too which felt really authentic and not so touristy which was nice. My boyfriend also loved his meal.

Again the rating system on Trip Advisor doesn’t allow me to give a rating of good which is my true ranking of this place. In our experience the starters of goats cheese salad and snails in tomato sauce were more tasty than the main courses...of cassoulet or fried beef. Service was friendly and provided by a dead ringer for Stifler out of American Pie. Lovely location within a very pretty medieval square and it was easy to imagine going back in time to the era of knights and peasants.More

My wife and I had dinner here at the recommendation of Jean from the Hotel du Pont Vieux. The restaurant was only a few minutes’ walk from the hotel. What a lovely local restaurant with great food, a good wine selection and some interesting local...aperitifs and digestives to compliment the experience. The service was particularly friendly and helpful. We had Foire Gras on Toast & Escargot for starters, Cassoulet with Confit Duck and Magret de Cannard for mains, and finished with Sorbet & Cake with Pistachio cream. Everything on the menu was great but the Cassoulet was without doubt the best we had during our time in France and to this day I can still recall the taste.More
