Attended Restaurant 1840 with my wife and family tonight. We had a wonderful evening. Excellent food, a very good mix of drinks, fantastic, attentive yet unobtrusive service all in the setting of an old Methodist chapel. The first time we’ve been here but it won’t...be our last. Thank You All for giving us all a wonderful night out!More

Came here midweek for an evening with my partner after searching for somewhere new to try. Our food was very tasty, each part tasted like it was lovingly made and we were pleasantly surprised. Servers were nice and pleasant. Food did take some time to...cook despite being the first to order but would definitely return because all our meals were very nice!More

Having had the great pleasure of dining at Restaurant 1840 for a second occasion, it is my duty to provide a thorough critique on the outstanding performance of this restaurant and its impeccable cuisine! The restaurant is set in the town of Dawley in a...uniquely beautiful 19th century church. This historic building sets the scene for a dining experience like no other! The staff provided incredibly great service from the beginning to the end of the evening and we felt totally welcome from the second we arrived. The steak was absolutely, without a doubt, the best I have ever had. It was cooked exactly as I liked, and was accompanied by an outstanding peppercorn sauce. Truly a masterpiece in both taste and presentation. We also shared a cheeseboard alongside a wine that had been paired, and once again the selection and flavours that were combined were impeccable. We later discovered that the kitchen prided itself on its local produce which really added to the organic experience and drove a sense of community to the feel of this great restaraunt. A luxury dining experience at an incredibly fair price! I personally thanked the Chef, Anjelika, who also manages the restaurant, and I have to say that she is outstanding at what she does. We have already booked for Valentine's day so will be back very soon! 10/10More

Came here for the first time after looking for somewhere nice for dinner and seeing all the excellent reviews this place has. However I'm sad to say it didn't live up to my expectations. The positives were: we were greeted on arrival, the menu has...a nice introduction to the restaurant, nice setting inside an old church but still felt quite relaxed, very polite service throughout, the other person enjoyed their starter and steak main, and nice to see the chef seeing people off at the end of the night. I'm not sure if we caught them on a bad night but unfortunately a number of things missed the mark: the waiter forgot to bring us a couple of drinks we asked for through our meal and brought the incorrect one on an occasion, the service was painfully slow (although I believe this to be the kitchen not the waiters fault) and it took us 2 hours 45 mins for the 2 of us to eat 3 courses, my steak was over cooked and on too high heat as the edges had gone black, the chocolate bomb desert was too rich and in my opinion needed cream/ice cream instead of the toffee/caramel sauce to balance this out. Overall, I personally wouldn't come back based on this experience against the price. Just some feedback that it would be helpful to have some more lighting in the carpark, as at night it's very difficult to see, particularly the ow walls and poles sticking out.More

My wife and I stumbled across this restaurant while visiting the Telford area, and we were astonished by how good it was. There are some really interesting items on the menu including pheasant and woodpigeon, which I had never previously tried. The presentation of the...food was exquisite. (I wish I'd taken pictures.) The restaurant itself is in a converted chapel, which has been tastefully furnished in a modern style. The serving staff were friendly and welcoming. One word of caution: don't expect fast service. Food this good takes time to prepare!More

Lovely evening me and my two friends on Wednesday eve. The food was phenomenal! We had 3 of the small plates which was great way to taste a few different dishes. The lady who greeted us , showed us to our table and kept checking...on us was so lovely. And our waiter , a young lad didn’t get his name was so friendly and professional. The customer service was top on notch! We were the table where food took a while so we’re given a free bottle of wine which was a lovely touch. It was most definitely worth the wait. Thank you so much!!!More

My wife and I went to Restaurant 1840 , at Stirchley , for the first time last night to have a birthday celebration meal. It is in an old rennovated Chapel building , built in 1840 , hence the name. We were very impressed by...the quality of the food and the caring service from Alison , Molly and Grace . We can highly recommend the Restaurant 1840 and although they are regularly booked out later in the week they are now opening on Tuesday and Wednesdays with spaces still available . The Restaurant 1840 has a well laid out small tarmacadam , flat, car park to the left of the building on a slight slope. It has a glass entrance porch with a large main dining area and kitchen on the ground floor with a smaller balcony area above the kitchen . We had a table upstairs and were amazed by the number of times that the staff climbed the stairs to come and service our needs , always smiling. The toilets are at the far side of the kitchen - through a very low stone arch ( duck ! ) with a unisex and disabled toilet available. My wife had a lovely fillet steak whilst I had a Pork Belly with cherry sauce ( containing nearly an orchard load of cherries) . Our sweets were another fantastic experience with my Rhubarb Panna Cota and Mariannes Chocolate ball , on a strawberry, in glass with hot caramel sauce poured over it . Do be aware that the menu is much more extensive than the one on the website and has some wonderful taste experiences. We do intended to revisit this superb restaurant now we have discovered it !More

We cannot thank you enough, you made our special day perfect. We went to Restaurant 1840, on Sunday to celebrate our ruby wedding anniversary with our family. We were a party of 15 adults and 4 children, so quite diverse eaters which did not pose...any issues to the restaurant. Alison and Jelly set the table for us, just as we wanted it. The table and room was just wonderful, both could not do enough, nothing was too much trouble. All the staff were attentive and very helpful. The food was the best that I have eaten for many many years. I personally had scallops, Chateaubriand followed by the baked Alaska, which was just perfection. The food for everyone was exceptional, and not overpriced considering the quality of the dishes, and is still being discussed many days later. We shall certainly return and would recommend to anyone that wants excellent, non pretentious food. Jelly certainly knows how to cook, everything was just perfect. Thank you againMore

Such a lovely find on our anniversary away. So welcoming. Upon arrival we were greeted by a lovely lady who turned out to be the owners mum. Seated in the beautiful converted church. The details to the room were lovely. Was served appetiser which we...delicious. Our starters were hot on arrival and well presented. Then to our main the sharing chateaubriand… wow every mouthful left you wanting more. They even left our a card on the table wishing us a happy anniversary would definitely recommend. One tiny detail we would suggest was the tongs the main was served which and that’s it (how minor but would make the dish go with the style of the restaurant better)More
