Our takeaway went badly wrong this evening. We ordered via their own app and were given a collection time in 1 hour. My husband went to pick it up and had to wait an additional 45 minutes over the collection time. They didn’t apologise and...just said they were busy. When he got home he opened his calzone pizza to find it charred black. I phoned to complain - they offered a replacement but given we had waited almost 2 hours for the first order we didn’t want to wait another 2. I asked for a refund of this particular item - but was told they would only refund it if they could collect it and return it to their chef. By this time my husband was trying to eat the filling and didn’t want to start looking for new food. A poor show this evening. Excuses ranged from they were busy to ‘calzone pizzas’ have to be cooked longer because they have a filling. Make up your own mind from the photo!More

Our first visit will be our last. This is one of a chain of 5 restaurants and it shows. We were first shown to probably the worst possible table for 2 with one of the chairs sticking out into the side doorway that was in...constant use. We then changed tables. Both of our starters were overcooked and the Saltimbocca was incredible salty. I should have sent it back, but hey ho. Most of the food was clearly previously frozen. Both the food and drinks were quite highly priced. It was quite busy, but that does not excuse the poor quality of the cooking.More

We were poorly welcomed into the restaurant and seated at a table. We were then seen too by a very rude waiter, who seemed uninterested and said about 3 words to us during our entire visit - he was our main waiter. The food arrived...and instantly my girlfriend found a moving bug on top of her pancakes! We let another waiter know, he was apologetic and got us a new dish. We finished half of our food as understandably we were put off! After finishing our breakfast, we found another bug crawling on our table. We then asked for the bill expecting some sort discount for the inconvenience but nothing was done and we had to pay full price. I used to enjoy this place and am now disappointed as to how we were treated today. Won’t be back anytime soon. Very poor.More

We have visited La Vita Piccolino e Vino in Newton Mearns many times over the years and the food has up till now been generally very good within this busy Italian restaurant. However last Saturday we ordered and collected our first takeaway from them -...WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT 2 starters and 2 mains First problem was that one of the main courses was wrong - a phone call resulted in a replacement being delivered within 15mins. However the food was from start to finish was extremely disappointing. So much so that we were unable to finish any of the dishes. Overcooked and tasteless. The next afternoon we called to tell them about our disappointment, The staff member was polite but not particularly apologetic. He Offered a derisory free pizza next time we ordered a takeaway. We told them it would be unlikely we’d order any takeaway in future and did not want a free pizza. As the member of staff was not authorised to do anything other than offer the pizza he suggested he would get “the boss” to phone me back. I agreed that the boss should be informed & would be pleased to receive a call from him. Two evenings later there has been no call from senior management. It would appear that this restaurant does not care about providing such a poor experience to its customers.More

I was in the Mearns area for an evening, a few Saturdays ago, visiting a friend. We popped into LaVita for a late dinner. The place was busy, so I expected good things. How wrong I was, sadly!! We were greeted by the host, who...acted in fact, like a bumbling oaf. I’m certain I saw him laugh at my surname on the Restaurant Diary upon arrival- how unprofessional. We started with a Focchaca, which was very tasty. I have a rich knowledge of Italian breads, after spending 4 nights in Pisa last summer. We eventually got our mains. There was a little wait but I can appreciate that it was the weekend. The young waitress was very attentive. After I stupidly spilled a LOT of balsamic, she rushed to get a cloth to wipe it up. Great service. My friend had the Risotto Monteverdi. This was a tiny portion for the price, but very tasty. I had a Pizza. No complaints there. However- there WAS an indirect incident. We saw the so called ‘manager’ being very rude to the staff. He appeared to be name calling, which I found again- most unprofessional. Either way, not the experience I’d hoped for. I do believe in second chances- but not for such a rude, childish boss. Best. HughMore

Had a spontaneous desire for a steak and just popped in. Been many times before and as usual service was excellent and friendly. They quickly served up a superbly juicy steak and chips accompanied by an excellent Italian side salad and plenty of mushrooms. Pepper...sauce was ideal ! Recommend the house Sicilian Red “MANDATO” £30 for the lot including the bottle of wine! Certainly well worth the money for the standard of service, quality of steak and how it was perfectly cooked. Tiramisu is there own recipient and to die for 🍰 Will have another spontaneous treat very soon 🥩🍷🍷More

I took my two daughter here and we were all impressed. The menu is extensive, with so many interesting dishes, it was difficult to choose. We had 3 courses and all the dishes were superb. The service is typically Italian, in a good way, friendly...and efficient.More

Usually love our food here and have both collected and ate in. After phoning up and being told to wait a minute (9 minutes later) I was able to order. After getting to the restaurant to collect my order staff were understandably stressed but were...rude and abrupt. Waited a good while in the restaurant and took my food home. From then it was very disappointing, food was look warm, despite me arriving on time, and the focaccia was bone dry. The worst part was the marina, which is usually nice. My whole family are convinced we have been served Heinz tomato soup, it was the exact same and COLD. Doubt I will be back after this.More
