So this evening me and my partner experienced the most tasty, heartwarming roast dinner we have ever had the pleasure of eating. Knowing that the kitchen had recently acquired a new head chef we were eager to try out the menu. We could not believe...the quality of the food and also the portion size for such a good price. The service from when we walked in was very nice and we felt right at home with the warm fire and table service and the family feel of the pub. What a perfect venue to enjoy a Sunday roast. If you are looking for crispy roast potatoes, the best cuts of meat and amazing service then you NEED to visit here. I hope the chef carries on inventing new dishes and delivering exceptional food. Well done!More

Thought we would visit to try the newly reinstated food after some time with the kitchen closed. We were not disappointed. A simple pub menu but with daily specials and seemingly happy to accommodate dietary requirements. The beef and Guinness stew from the specials board...was delicious and the buttermilk chicken burger was one of the best I have tasted. Congratulations to the chef, I cannot wait to work my way through the menu !More

Couldn’t recommend the Alma enough - for drinks, dinner or a party! I’ve been going there for many years & it turned out to be a perfect venue for my birthday party recently with 70 friends & family including children! Everyone had a fab day...& commented on what a great venue & lovely pub it is. Tommy managed my booking & was fantastic throughout! He went over & above to ensure everything was well organised & went to plan on the day - even booking a pizza truck when the kitchen was unavailable last minute. All the staff on the day were very accommodating, polite & patient too, despite it being a long & busy day! Highly recommend for all occasions & am looking forward to many more drinks & parties at the Alma in the future!More

We love the Alma and had yet another brilliant night out on Sunday with live music in the bar! If you haven’t been for a while then I’d heartily recommend you give it another go! It’s been given a facelift but still retains its eclectic...local pub charm. The staff are polite & friendly and it has a large garden with plenty of under cover areas. It’s amazingly dog & child friendly but children have to leave by a certain time I believe. So much nicer than the crèche like days of old. Although they’ve had some bad luck with the kitchen & electrics after Covid they’ve allowed takeaways & provided an occasional pizza van so their hungry punters don’t go without. The kitchen will be up and running on 12th October so not long to wait for the new menu! They don’t have a car park unfortunately & parking in the residential streets can be a bit of a nightmare so be prepared. There’s Halloween events lined up for kids and adults and more live music in the pipeline so plenty to look forward to!More

This place doesn’t allow children under the age of 10! Absolutely outrageous especially in a such a family friendly community and when restaurants are struggling. We have never been turned away from a restaurant for having a child (she is 8) and it was 6pm!...It’s completely outrageous and archaic. All parents be warned - this is not clear when you book a table. 0 stars guys 😔More

The Alma is back with vengeance. Having survived the Covid crisis of enforced masked faces, track ‘n’ trace, table service and impatient punters the good old Alma finally returns with fabulous staff and a sumptuous selection of hors d'oeuvres, mains, and deserts. The Buffalo chicken...wings are to die for which are served with a delish optional blue cheese sauce. There are other such offerings baked camembert and a sharing board to include a triage of cured meat, local cheeses which are served with crackers, grapes celery and chutney. The mains include a veggie sausage and mash dish and a fantastic chili which is available for Vegans and carnivores alike. For those of you that have any room left at all for dessert the salted vegan brownie is a must but for the diner with a more savory pallet there is an amazing cheese board which would easily feed five. The Alma is a must this summer with an amazing garden space and a fantastic mix of people with a refreshing and vibrant ambiance 😊More

Rude aggressive staff on a power trip, one chap seemed alright and was trying to make up for it. Slow and over priced for what it is. Understand pubs have had it rough but they need to at least try and make you welcome. Don't...waste your time and go to a pub in town.More
