My husband and I visited the Nelson today for a late lunch, it will definitely NOT be the last time we visit. The friendly welcome, ambient surroundings and extensive menu adds to the attraction of this venue. The staff are very attentive and professional. We...had 2 courses, this was a struggle because we had underestimated the portion sizes, which were more than generous. The choices of both starters and main dishes left us in a quandary but we were both pleased with our final choice. My husband had pulled pork pancakes with hoisin sauce as a starter followed by a very tasty chicken curry with rice/chips & a naan . I had Indian bites served with a yogurt dip followed by pan fried chicken and a mushroom risotto. All the food had a 'freshly cooked' taste, it was hot and nicely presented. In addition to this the cask beer was very good and came from a well kept cellar (according to my husband). We are already planning our next visit and deciding who to take with us 👍More

Well, well, well, where do I begin? Landlord was a ledge, waitresses even more on it and just when you think it couldn't get any better, free Sunday dinners came around for all of the party people. They pulled out all the stops!!

Brilliant food and service. the small plates are out of this world, have a load of them instead of a main corse and pick between yourselves, have a bit of everything. will be back for sure.

Visited as a group of 4 on Friday for our first indoor dining after the lift of restrictions. I was a bit dubious but the place is so covid secure still, we were seated straight away and the girls who were waiting on us were...just so lovely and welcoming. We didn't have to wait to ask for drinks or service they were on it! As a vegetarian I was so impressed that there were so many choices for me to pick from, something I'm not used too! I was not disappointed with my choice of the Stilton vegetable lasagne, it was delicious! My friends were raving about the steak pie they had also. We had such a lovely evening and I will definitely be back, thankyou!More

Ample off road car parking. Rural location and only five minutes by car from Burntwood. Clean, Covid safe with friendly and efficient staff. Relaxed and informal atmosphere with delicious food served in generous portions at reasonable prices, this is how to run a pub/restaurant and...we will return.More

Had a nice meal here , BUT, it was ruined with people smoking all around us, even though there was a designated area , felt like walking out , people mingling from one table to another , not Covid friendly at all , ate our...meal and paid up and went , put us off returning, shame as the food and staff were lovely If we had been dining indoors this would not have happenedMore

Went to the Nelson, intending to eat in the canopied area. However, the number of cigarette smokers under the canopy put us off, we didn't really want cigarette smoke wafting over our dinner. Smoking is not allowed in a dining area indoors, so why is...it acceptable under a canopy where people are eating, particularly when there is a separate designated smoking area. We went elsewhere to eat, and don't intend coming back to the Nelson till there is a smoke free zone.More
