We'd been here many years ago so on a trip to Sheffield ,were delighted to find it still going. If you're looking for a Pizza Express 'experience' this is not it ,but there is one nearby. We had thebiggest portion of marinated olives we've ever...seen ,and a Pea Shoot tortelloni that was still sizzling for a couple of minutes after it was served. Thank you to the lady we spoke to in the morning when we checked the menu - Sorry we didnt see you again to say Thank you.More

Four of us for a reunion meal … booked in advance good job we did popular place. Staff are lovely helpful and attentive. Orders taken…. Hmm the garlic bread just wow … and the garlic mushrooms mouth watering ace … scampi platter that was for...starters. Mains taken and all four of us tucked in and nothing wrong with our choice’s arrived on the table … it was bubbling away (red hot per we stated). It’s nice to go somewhere and the food is piping hot !! it’s a nice cosy restaurant in the centre of town So it’s recommended one to visit …. If where in Sheffield again, we won’t be passing the door !!More

Ordered quiche: well cooked. Salad really nice as was the dressing. Staff friendly and attentive. It's just a lovely, unpretentious restaurant/bistro you decide!!

Second visit to this lovely place and left looking forward to the third! Really attentive staff who couldn't do enough for you. Good quality, home cooked food and so much to choose from it's hard to disappoint. Mama's and Leonies means a lot to my...boyfriend and me as it was somewhere we passed on our first date during COVID and said we should go to when the world gets more 'normal'. Three years later and we're happy to have ticked it off our list. Thank you for keeping a lovely place.More

Really surprised at the positive reviews on here. This was the worse Italian restaurant we have ever been to. Six of us booked a table on a Tuesday night. We were led up to our table upstairs, the tables were packed, so much so my...daughter had to keep moving her seat in to let the server past, were after a while it got quite annoying. The whole deco looks like a smokers old persons home from the 70s and definitely not been redecorated in the last 30 years. Tables and chairs really old and uncomfortable with a torn table cloth draped over. I filthy toilet for the ladies and one for the gents, which staff also had to use. Onto the food. 2 of our party had burgers (what are they doing on an Italian menu, I have no idea), anyway I was told these were like the burgers you used to get from a tin in a supermarket (later my daughter threw up). Their chips were obviously frozen and then fried, for the price I don't think it would have been too much to ask that they chopped a couple of potatoes up. No effort made whatsoever. Vile. Another meal was Ravioli which I am told was nice. Calzone was dry and, I am told, bland. I had spaghetti bolognese, which you'd think at an Italian, they wouldn't be able to get wrong, well think again! The spaghetti was store bought and not made in house, which I would expect as a minimum, bowl was full of water because it had not been drained properly. The bolognese itself was cheap tasting and bland, like they had made it with a jar from Aldi. No little extra touch either like asking if you are enjoying your meal or offering some parmesan cheese on our meals. Bill came to £132, we didn't even get a "thanks" or "goodnight" from the staff. Horrible experience and definitely won't be returning or recommending to anyone else. Do yourself a favour, if you fancy an Italian you can't go wrong at Sette Colli in Hillsborough.More

We arrived at the restaurant and immediately noticed the tables were too small and the environment was very cramped, customers were queuing down the restaurant for the toilet (the one toilet) which serves all the guests and the staff. The drinks were very overpriced it...was around £3 for a regular coke and it was less than half a pint and it was also flat not fizzy like it was from a bottle. Me and my partner ordered a "white cheese burger with smoked bacon" and if i'm being honest i've had better burgers from a burger van and they came on cheap buns rather than brioche buns like the menu said. Rest of my family had pasta dishes which were filled with water and tasteless, complete waste of money. The server didn't even offer any parmesan! The chips were frozen chips as well which were tasteless. I personally don't think there was anything italian about this restaurant everything was cheaply made and could tell it was all store bought and nothing home made. Sette Colli in hillsborough is the way to go if your looking for a decent italian. Dont waste your money! there was no care or thought into this food.More

I want to say first the staff here are lovely and it's also super cheap. However, we ordered pizzas and they can be best described as middle school home economics cooking. Very small and completely tasteless. You'd be better off eating any supermarket pizza. Desert...wise... Tiramisu was similar to the balconi cakes found in Poundland. Italian banana served with ice cream... I need to see evidence of it's citizenship. Sicilian Musa capriciosa or one of the help yourself fruit ls in the produce isle. I'm going for the latter.More

I booked lunch for my group of 14 after our visit to the art gallery. The booking process was very efficient, I received a phone call a week before to confirm, and when we arrived and went upstairs everything was ready for us. Every member...of the group told me they were very happy with the meal they had. The menu is very wide ranging, with an Italian element, but also plenty of salads, light bite sandwiches, jacket potatoes etc. Service was very pleasant and reasonably quick considering the size of our group and that it was busy with other diners, and all our lunches came at the same time.More

First off the bat - if you want authentic, truly authentic, Italian food go elsewhere, like Italy, for example. This place is the epitome of British-based Italian food that will probably disappoint the majority of today's youth, most whom have neither been to Italy nor...have another reference point than Jamie's Italian or TV cooks. This restaurant performs and delivers consistent food that is nourishingly Britalian and the menu harks back to an era where spaghetti grew on trees (well before my time I might add). I visited perhaps 15 times or more during my sojourn in Sheffield and have tried many dishes on the menu. It is an eclectic affair, Jacket Potatoes, Cheese Salads, Hamburgers, who even calls them hamburgers anymore nevermind dedicates a Section Name! The Extravaganzas amaze me – you can have such exquisite delights such as Gammon Steak, Scampi, a Sirloin or even Chicken Tikka! This possibly remains as a comfort barrier to those who were too scared to try 'foreign' foods back in the day and were scared to say so in front of their hosts or guests. I admit to trying the Scampi which is, as accordingly priced, the same as any other scampi you’ll find in most places in the UK – frozen from a packet and deep-fried in a portion of ten – let’s face it if you expected fresh, deep-fried scampi you’ll be paying more than four times the menu price – so if you’re the person that ever complained about the scampi get your wallet out and take a walk. I never tried anything in the Extravaganza section since the Al Forno pastas were where I tended to wander. Unlike the scampi these are clearly prepared on site and taste, absolutely British authentic – just like Mamas should. The hardest part is waiting for the bubbling cheese or tomato sauce to calm down to the point you don’t burn the roof of your mouth – epicurean torture. The pizzas – what can I say – they’ve never seen Italy in their life! But then again, having spent a half lifetime in Africa, it’s amazing how few places in the UK have wood-burning ovens - electric all the way, so you can stick your Napoletana right up your Pomodoro – Mama’s Pizzas are true and authentic Britalian and taste the same way. I’ve not been there near on a year now and have a hankering to go back – to my childhood of Early Learning Italian. And for the sake of nostalgia and homely tasting food. Too many places these days order pre-made foods either from their central production kitchens or from Brake Bros. or Bidfood so if you want a chain such as Bill's or that other fancy one round the corner in St.Pauls that seats more than the Vatican then go ahead and eat uour UPF. But for mostly fresh stuff eat here and celebrate Britalia.More
