Absolutely loved it. The food was fantastic, the staff were great, the dining room is gorgeous. A little gem of a place - would definitely return when back in Middlesbrough. Fixed price menu was a bargain. Can't recommend highly enough!

I am a regular to this wonderful restaurant which has been restored to its original state. The restaurant is beautiful and just a nice size with enough room between tables so very comfortable. A lovely traditional bar is inviting and a good place to have...a drink before dinner. There is a varied and good selection of drinks and some of the best wines I have drank. We had a lunch last week for 13. The owner Philip also the chef found himself on his own but the food and service were exceptional. I really don’t know how he did it as everything is cooked fresh. We did pre-order so thankfully he did know what we wanted. We were the only people that day at lunch which was lovely. Philip service was exemplary and nothing was too much trouble. The food is amazing always enjoy it and good value for money. I did not order a desert but as soon as I saw the bake well tart I wanted to try some and again no problem. The menu is varied suiting all diets, but if you don’t see anything then if you ring you will be accommodated as one of our party did. A truly lovely place with exceptional service and food well worth a visit.More

I had the chance to dine for the first time in this wonderful restaurant in early October 2022. The food was delicious with a good choice of French and continental classics. The service was most professional but friendly too and the staff were very willing...to explain anything about the various dishes that we need to know. The decor of this restaurant is exceptionally impressive, and the ambience is very warm and welcoming. I enjoyed the experience so much that I went for lunch just 4 days later and it was just as impressive. Do not miss this restaurant - it is a real treat for all the senses!More

Just had a lovely meal with friends. We all ordered the Prix Fixe, staff accommodated my friend with a gluten free option. All 3 courses were beautiful and the surroundings equally as attractive. From the moment we stepped inside The Zetland I knew we had struck gold! The decor, the charm, the ambiance and of course the staff!! If you are ever lucky enough to visit this little gem, we'll done, you will nit be disappointed. We started...with the reccomendation of smoked Mackerel ( I've never tried this before) we were not disappointed, it was sublime, the potato accompaniment was so delicious, I could have eaten a bowl of it. The meal was perfect,the setting was perfect and the staff are so friendly. Highly recommend this fantastic restaurant.More

We were a party of 7 on a Friday night a few weeks ago. Greeted at the bar where we the only people in, the young chap took our drinks order and delivered them promptly - your Princess Alice cocktail was delicious. That’s where the...positives end. Specifically for my meal - The crusty bread never came with the moules nor did you provide a finger bowl to clean up which is common practice with the dish. The other starters seemed very sparse. My duck main course again was sparse and very dry. Asked for the dessert menu and it turns out your fridge was broken and the small selection you did have our party didn’t want. Ok no problem - we’ll try a coffee … no we won’t the machine is broken. We got the bill & left. WHAT A MASSIVE DISAPPOINTMENT we could have gone anywhere but I wanted to try The Zetland given all of the great reviews. Never again - given your location we couldn’t even go for dessert and coffee elsewhere as getting up Linthorpe Rd in the pouring rain with some elderly folk in our party wasn’t really an option NOT THAT WE SHOULD HAVE NEEDED TO AS WE HAD CHOSEN TO DINE WITH YOU?? While I’m on a rant our first choice of wine from your drinks list you also never had. What’s the point in running at restaurant when you don’t have availability especially on a weekend ? I’d rather you have contacted my to explain the problems you had that evening therefore giving me the option to make alternative arrangements if I so wished - We eat out a lot, I would have booked with you at a later date when you were fully functioning. A pretty room with no atmosphere in the restaurant at all, the same lad from the bar serving the food and clearing the tables basically doing everything (I appreciated that he was try his best) but overall I’m sorry to say as I was excited to visit beforehand, a massive waste of money as I didn’t enjoy any of it and as such could not recommend.More
