Traditional / Classic / Authentic Hong Kong style Wonton Noodle Soup with regular bite size wonton stuffed with pork and shrimp in a very thin wrapper, instead of many others that make jumbo shrimp balls and claim as wontons nowadays. The shrimps in the wontons...are fresh with briny crunch. The noodle is cooked to the bite, i.e., not soggy! The price and portion is standard, don’t know why some claimed small. The steamed rice noodle rolls (cheong fun) are thin and tasty. The beef tendons were cooked to the bite, tasty but not salty too! But the congee was a disappointment, as they use the standard restaurant method, adding flour to thicken the congee, instead of the home style slow-cook method. So less than half way done, the congee turned watery. Staff were friendly and professional. Overall, I would recommend this place and return to try the other stuff.More

As someone who adores, almost to the point of obsession, a good hearty, bowl of authentic, traditional HK style Won-Ton Noodles. I once took in multiple bowls of this comfort delight at 15 different noodle shop locations in Hong Kong during a vacation span of...3 weeks! As a discriminating aficionado of this iconic Cantonese delicacy, it therefore pains me to see mutated, bastardized rendition of this product surfacing all over the place nowadays. Incorporating giant golf ball size won-ton morsels, pungent green onion decorative garnish that breaks up the harmonious taste profile of the broth, won-ton and noodle trio and watered-down soy-sauce based broth...etc. To me this cheaper, demoted, quantity over quality approach is tantamount to sacrilege! Coming across this newly opened place whilst doing some grocery shopping at King's Square, Woodbine & 16th, Markham, I was attracted by the ' Toasted sun-dried flounder and shrimp egg ' aroma emanating from this noodle place!....a good sign!! Today, accompanied with another Won-ton noodle lover - ex-chowhounder SkylineR33, we had a mini-chowmeet and gave this new kid on the block a try. We both agreed this place has just become ' the only ' authentic, traditional Hong Kong Style Won-Ton noodle place east of the Rockies ( the other being 'Mak An Kee in Richmond, BC ). Served with traditional 5 'regular', bite-size won-ton morsels with 70-30 shrimp to pork ratio filling, toasted sun-dried flounder and shrimp shell base soup broth, neutral tasting ' sans alkaline, Lyle water after-taste', al-dente thin thread chewy noodles and garnished with yellowing chives and shrimp egg condiments. This satisfying and delectable bowl of noodles is the closest rendition of an original HK style Won-ton noodle one can get in the GTA. The side plate of Cantonese Chui-Hau style braised beef brisket and tendons was equally flavourful and complex tasting. The protein pieces chop-sticks tender. Only downside was the dense and deep tasting sauce of the braised dishes tends to overcome the much, more delicate and slightly, under-seasoned umami laden broth rendering it a bit ' invisible ' towards the end! Lastly, Covid protocol was strictly adhered to and service was extremely friendly and cordial.....a rarity in a Chinese comfort food place!More
