We had a drink and evening meal here last night and very much enjoyed everything. The staff were really pleasant, welcoming and friendly. The beer well kept and good We found the food outstanding with many elements made fresh in house which is realky impressive...and more importantly delicious ! We had home made breads, houmous, even the beer batter on the fish was home made and deliciously light. Also a measure of any place I reckon !....were the 3 x cooked chips which were really crisp. We were too full for pudding as the portions are beyond generous, but there is a great selection of home cooked trad puddings on the menu. Thks !!🍻More

This pub/B&B is marvellous. When we arrived to find out what check-in time was we were made very welcome - although we were early. We decided to stay for lunch, which was excellent. The staff were helpful and the pub is beautifully refurbished. After a...visit to Dungeoness we returned and booked into a lovely room with an amazing en suite. All the usual requirements were provided - including WiFi. The landlord couldn’t have been more helpful. Although we has forgotten to book for dinner in the evening, they managed to squeeze us in and we had a very enjoyable meal. There happened to be live music that night and this went down very well. Only one small negative was that it was quite noisy till about closing time; this is understandable as it is a pub and we were able to watch TV until everyone had left. We had a good night’s sleep and we enjoyed an excellent breakfast. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and are very happy to recommend it, Thank you, Theo and staff.More

After having read the really good reviews about this place whilst visiting the area we were looking forward to our Sunday meal We had booked weeks in advance and requested a window seat, sadly this was not honoured, despite taking us past a window seat...for 2 people! We were seated in a very noisy part of the restaurant where a very rowdy group were seated and we could hardly hear ourselves talk, nevertheless, he waitresses were efficient and friendly. We noticed from another recent review that they had run out of roast potatoes on the same Sunday we were there and guess we were one of the lucky ones, as we were also seated at 2.30pm and had our roast potatoes, (not crispy). Surely the purpose of booking is to give the restaurant a good indication of how many roast potatoes you would need for Sunday dinners? We had the crumble for dessert which was a good sized portion but had too much fruit liquid and wasn't easy to top up with an equally runny tiny portion of custard.More

booked in 2 days in advance to have a sunday roast ,once there after ordering 4 roast beef dinners ( which was the only meat option for the roast dinner on the menu ) we were told that the potatoe option was chips / mash...or new potatoes because they had run out of roast potatoes ! bearing in mind this was at 230 half way thro their service and they were not stopping service until 430 ! why on earth would i want to pay £18 for a roast beef dinner and have chips instead of roast potatoes ! surely they should have either taken the roast off the menu and informed everyone that it had all gone or sent someone along the road to jempsons for more potatoes seeing as they are only half way through service . The drinks were also expensive so adding up how much 4 of us would have spent having roasts and drinks and maybe a pudding they missed out on a good £180 table all for the sake of a few potatoes ! crazy way to run a business ! we were realy lucky to have got into another place for a meal as it was now getting late and alot of places were already booked hence why i booked the horse and cart 2 days in advance . we had a lovely roasty with a choice of 5 different meats and all the roast potatoes you could shake a stick at ! and it was doing food all day and no sign of a potatoe shortage . big shame on the horse and cart as the refurb looked great , just needs a good kitchen manager or a chef who can count 👀More

Would highly recommend this family and dog friendly country pub. All the food was fresh, from local suppliers, and the portions were good sizes. Very friendly owner and great service.

This is a proper country pub with delicious food, great service, friendly staff and a homely, comforting atmosphere. The food is all homemade, nice sized portions and good value for money. The pub is modern whilst still keeping the country feel with beams and a...log fire burning away. The owner of the pub is incredibly friendly and attentive. Dogs are welcome here which is even better! We would recommend to anyone and will be coming back!More

Visited for lunch end of Oct 2021. Although busy with a wedding booking for the rooms, plenty of space for lunch. Food was great and catered for the kids and dog friendly. Best part was the service, v friendly and accommodating.
