Friendly welcoming simple dinner stop

Friendly unpretentious place overlooking the harbour. Lovely fresh fish selection and able to offer some veggie options too. Nice atmosphere and mix of local people and tourists. Good value too.

Cosy, warm and very good value

I had spotted bad reviews and mention of unfriendly staff and have to say this was not the case on our visit. We were looking for fresh fish. Staff were very courteous and friendly. I think they have limited English but spoke far more English than we had Portuguese! I had fresh sea bass; picked straight from the cold display and my friend went for fresh sardines. We had mixed salad, veg and pototoes as sides with bowl of olives to start, washed down with bottle of house white. We chatted with other visitors, and locals jumped up and offered their tables when more visitors arrived. We stayed on as the conversation was good, had dessert, and a large glass of red wine each. The bill was under €40. It is a casual dining experience but warm, friendly and very good value.

Lovely dinner

We had a lovely dinner and fabulous views. Service was wonderful. Full house of mostly locals with loud laughter set the tone for a fun dining experience. We met a woman traveling alone and shared wine & stories!

Top notch fishy lunch

We dropped in for a quick lunch on our first day of the Rota Vicentia walk and stayed all afternoon at this simple but wonderful restaurant. We were a party of 9 and were quickly embraced by the owner. He organised a platter of different fish and shellfish to try and we merrily drank litres of house wine at €6.50 a litre - with the red being the standout wine of the trip so far. We were treated to a platter of deserts to finish alongside our coffees. Everyone agreed that this was our best restaurant experience of the 4 night trip…and it was only a lunch. I’d encourage other fellow walkers and travellers to seek out the restaurant and give it a try. PS The bill was incredibly good value and the quality fantastic. Quite the opposite you get down the road in the Algarve!

Shocking service and cleanliness

What an absolutely terrible experience! Waited 20 Milton be seated with not even an offer of a drink. Once we were seated ordered what we wanted from the menu…15 minutes later the waitress arrived to tell me that the dish I wanted wasn’t available. Ordered something different and then waited an hour and a half for the food to come out, again with no apology and no offer of a drink within that time. The cleanliness of the place was sub-standard with tables half heartedly wiped and food left on chairs.

Hidden little gem in Porto covo

What a beautiful little gem this is… I am in Porto covo on business and wanted to try the best fish restaurant and was directed to this place by my hotel. And I wasn’t disappointed I had the most beautiful peixe linguado (sole fish) cooked perfect and so fresh… served with potatoes or rice it was absolutely beautiful. The wine was also perfect and reasonably priced to. 10/10

Fresh and amazing seafood!

This was a most enjoyable experience! The servers were friendly and helpful. We felt very welcome even though we speak no Portugeuse. Some of the servers did speak some English. The fish is fresh caught, and you pick the fish from the display out front. One of the servers chose an enormous fish for us. The fish was grillled whole and to perfecion. We ate every single bite of it. It was honestly the most delicious fish I've ever had. The chocolate mouse was amazing as well. I am gluten intolerant and I am confident I avoided any gluten. However, with the language barrier, it was difficult to describe gluten intolerance.

Beautiful restaurant, great meal

We had a delicious grilled fish dinner here, overlooking the harbor, the evening before the start of our Fisherman's Trail hike. Great service, great food, beautiful setting. Very relaxed and friendly - highly recommend.

Hidden gem!

Had a soup, vegetarian pasta, clams, homemade pate. Everything was phenomenal! Every flavor was delicate and unique. Service was great. The view is perfect - we got lucky and caught an amazing sunset over the sea! Highly recommend it if you’re looking for a tranquil evening!

Worst place, stupid staff

Staff make us wait to get a seat. When a table was available they told us to wait until they put the plates on the table. The staff was doing everything except put plates on the table. When we ask to seat again, they keep saying that there is no plates but they don't put them. We must leave and find another restaurant. THE STAFF ARE THE WORST, THEY ARE LAZY, THEY DON'T WANT CUSTOMERS

Past reviewers may have been having a bad day - we had a lovely meal, the freshest fish with attentive but laid back service and the best views in Porto Covo - Miramar is not to be missed.

COVID - Cleaning and Disinfection Rules not in place

Dear Miramar Restaurant Owner, As we’ve spoke today, before I left your restaurant, the use of mask by the chef it’s not optional... it’s a must! Ensuring the best hygiene practices during food preparation and cooking is a daily task for all food and beverage establishments. However, reinforcing these practices at this specific time is extremely important! I can’t write a review about the food as I have left the restaurant after when I realized that people in the kitchen (3) weren't wearing mask... Employees serving at the tables were always entering in the kitchen, removing their mask when speaking with their colleagues ... and also... table distance ... not even 1 meter. Dear restaurant owner, also, please use mask when you’re disinfecting cutlery or when you’re going behind the counter... The use of mask is not optional as you told me.... the use of mask is mandatory! If you need more info, although you should know better pls go to DGS website. Covid-19: We each have a professional responsibility to be civil and show respect and kindness for others at all times
