Not a Good Experience

It was pouring with rain so hard that we chose this restaurant as it was nearby. That was a mistake. The food was reasonably good, but we found the waiters extremely rude and ignorant. I couldn't get out of this restaurant fast enough. Would not recommend this restaurant as we later found that there are far better restaurants in Porto Covo.

Great Fresh SeaFood, Friendly Staff, Authentic Atmosphere

We loved this place - there is a beautiful display of all the freshest seafood just as you walk in, so you can even just point to whatever you want. The food is prepared deliciously and very big portions. My husband raved about the fresh octopus (I don't eat it), but my clams were delicious. I would definitely go back and recommend to anyone who wants an authentic, fresh experience.

Just what it says on the label. A good fish/shellfish restaurant. You don't have a tank full of live crustations (crabs/lobsters etc) and not be good at cooking seafood! I know some people have a bad experience and react as if it is the norm, because it has happened to them but this restaurant does not deserve this 3.5 rating. The three young waiters in there were smart, attentive and efficient. We chose a sea bass (robalo) for two and it was cooked perfectly. Served with fresh veg and a nice salad, even a small dish with chopped fresh garlic and coriander to add if required. This fish was about 1kg and cost 30€. Try and find that in the UK I dare you. It was light and bright inside, extra tables outside in the street. Everything well spaced out and the waiters were constantly sanitising their hands as they came in and out. Well done. I imagine the negatives came in high season when everywhere is packed out. I wish I could have returned and had one of those huge brown crabs in the tank. 18euros and probably enough for two. Sadly we only there for one night. By the way the house wine is very acceptable and only 3€ for a half litre. Thank you O Pescador for an excellent meal at very good value. (My wife left a bag there and the waiter chased us up the street to return it.)

Good fish, but..

They know how to grill fish, which was also fresh and flavourful. Salad half prepackaged not up to the main course. Experience was ruined by employees trying to sell as much as they could. After the fifth or sixth time they asked me if I wanted another drink I just stopped bothering.

The only two good things I will say about this restaurant is that they were open and serving before six pm (when we were hungry) and that they had Sagres in the pumps. The rest was really nothing special. My remaining memory of Porto Covo is to come here for the scenery and not for the food.

Worst meal in Portugal

We love Portugal and it’s food. And we love small local authentic places. This place has deeply disappointed us. The crab was clearly frozen (unforgivable if you are literally 200m from the ocean), sea bass was tiny and so so salty. My partner’s dish came out cold and was far from what it was supposed to be. It was by far the worst meal we’ve had in the last 7 years coming to Portugal. Tourists trap, avoid at all costs!

Great place for lunch in Porto Cove

Super quality food. The clams bulhão pato were fresh and big with a delicious sauce. Salada de polvo was one of the best I ever had and the special dish Feijoada Buzios was spectacular and huge. Three of us shared it. Service was also friendly and efficient. Great place for lunch when in Porto Covo.

Great food and atmosphere

We were there early, shortly after the restaurant opened. And it kept filling up, with people passing by seeing how full it was who decided to come in. The for was very good, the service was slow but it's forgivable, there were only 4 waitress and they all running like crazy.
