We arrived for dinner and sat down straight away. We only ordered 1 serving of grilled lizards. In a portion of €18, there were only 4 strips of meat, with a lot of fat and the flavor was just pepper. Desserts weren't bad, but they had a dry layer on top. Expensive for the service and food presented.

Great staff great food

We stopped for a light lunch and were very happy we had. Our waitress appreciated my attempts at speaking Portuguese and helped me out when I was struggling. Our food was served very promptly and was extremely good value and traditional for the region. I had octopus with megas which I would recommend -it was a dish of the day.

Very good service with price / quality tailored. We ordered 3 doses for 3 people but we should have ordered only 2 doses because they are really well prepared but also well served.

It was one of the worst dinners I've ever had. Horrible food, this restaurant is in Alentejo and has no idea what “migas” are. They think that migas are balls of shredded bread and that adding bread is enough. I ate tasteless pork cheeks without sauce with frozen potatoes, in my opinion frozen potatoes are not acceptable for a restaurant, much less at the price this one has. The octopus was horrible and suspicious looking. I won't go back but there are certainly those who like paying to eat bad food.

I went for dinner and ordered octopus with migas and fries. The octopus, which looked more like canned potatoes, looked and tasted exactly the same, and looked deplorable. If it wasn't canned, it was something that had been heated many, many times. The migas, I'm suspicious of, but the few times I ate them, they weren't limited to a piece of dry bread with a garlic flavor. Am sorry. I expected more. Not to be repeated, much less recommended.

It's been a long time since we ate so badly

A random choice that went wrong, really wrong. With the exception of the white wine, everything was unimaginably bad; the fish was poorly prepared and tasteless, supposed to be grilled sea bass, which was not grilled at all, brushed with an unidentifiable orange sauce. Hard fried cuttlefish, very hard indeed, accompanied by reheated frozen fries, soft and floury. Not a basket of bread and olives was placed on the table, nothing. A bad experience that wasn't cheap. We will definitely not return to this place!

Delicious and Welcoming

We had a nice dinner here - our first in Portugal. The staff were extremely helpful in providing recommendations. And although the place filled up fast, we were able to enjoy the last of our wine without being rushed. Service, food and atmosphere all were excellent. Highly recommend.

Search for best food in Porto Covo

Our host for the evening Orpheu, provided the best experience in what we found to be the only honest option for traditional Portuguese food at non tourist prices in Porto Covo. Before being dragged into tourist traps this should be your first option in this charasamatic village that is being rapidly commercialised.

Delicious food and great value

We ate dinner here, just a main each with a bottle of wine to share, the house red. After a friendly welcome, the service was excellent and the food likewise. Honest home cooking served generously. The wine was excellent and, like the food, very reasonably priced. Would certainly return if in the area again.

Nice lunch

My boyfriend and i stopped here for a quick lunch. I wanted the cuttlefish but with a different garnish, migas instead of fries. The lady changed it promptly, therefore I had exactly what I wanted. Thank you for that. His fish was also good and fresh. The portions are generous. The ambience was nice, casual and very friendly. Definitely recommended!
