The five of us came here for lunch while visiting Burano. We ate in the quiet courtyard in back of the restaurant- a setting which was a wonderful respite from the noise and crowds of tourists. The food was excellent. My wife and I both...loved the seafood risotto made only for a fish stock. But the highlight was the branzino filleted table side. It was the best branzino we’ve ever had.More

We washed two hours and €80 on A Saturday night, as a group of four, travelling to Burano for a meal here. We booked and had confirmation from.our credit card company that the booking was validated. They check your credit card so that they can...charge you for a time wasting no-show. We got there and the restaurant was dark, closed for repairs. They're probably too important to disable website booking. Finding a good meal for four at 8.30 on a busy Saturday in Venice is really tough. The bad rating is for the terrible service and the waste of our time. The worst meal I've ever had in Venice is better than this contemptuous waste of our evening. Got bitten by mosquitoes as wellMore

I’d dined here in 2019 and was keen to bring my husband. We arrived at 13.30 and were told our table (14.00) was ready ans that we could sit inside (not outside as we were previously told Was all that was available). We received a...welcome glass of Prosecco. We had a lovely, patient waiter who carefully answered all our questions - he explained the types of fish and where they come from (in rhe lagoon near the restaurant). We had to have the Gran Antipasti a large selection of fish for which the restaurant is famous. As an addition we ordered moeche (soft shell crabs) which are in season very briefly. Next we had John Dory (me) and Branzino al forno (husband) - both delicious. Finally we shared chocolate cake and coffee. Our waiter gave me a little black Murano glass cat - how sweet. He also brought us scrogpinno (lemon sorbet with vodka). The whole meal was just amazing and I feel that it is one of my absolute favourites. Standards are incredibly high, but it is very relaxed.More

Saw a show with Anthony Bourdain dining here after visiting the family while gathering all the fresh items out of the water daily. Couldn't wait to go try it and it most definitely was everything and more Anthony shared! Like I said Incredible!!

I dined here this evening with a group of friends. We arrived and we were greeted with a complimentary glass of Prosecco upon arrival. We had an excellent meal (delicious seafood - especially the spaghetti vongole) accompanied by the best service we have had this...trip. The staff were warm, friendly and accommodating, providing recommendations from the menu. We received complimentary desserts and aperitifs. Could not recommend this restaurant more. A must if you find yourself in the colourful streets of Burano 🇮🇹More

The Black.Cat doesn’t need another review, as its reputation is well established. But, perhaps a word on how great restaurants keep and grow their clientele. We were lucky enough to snag a reservation during the height of the recent Venice Film Festival … lucky us....I was overjoyed to find one of my favourites, Spaghetti ala Vongole on the menu. I jokingly mentioned to our server that I had ordered the dish twice previously in Venice, and each time found nary a clam. After our appetizers, out came the chef/owner with a heaping bowl of delicious clams and a side of spaghetti. Ha! That’s what creates repeat business. Thanks again, and we will be back … and have already sent six couples there to dine. P.S. request a table in the rear garden, quite and away from the madding crowd.More

A truly memorable culinary experience. Innovative dishes, imaginatively presented, and tantalising to the tastebuds. Delectable cocktails, and delightful fine wines. Service is welcoming, highly customer-responsive, and unobtrusive.

We enjoyed our lunch in this restaurant. We shared the risotto, the baked Sea Bass, Mixed fried fish. It was a lot of food for two people. Great view and away from the crows on a gorgeous canal.

We visited Gatto Nero in early September and had a wonderful dining experience. Reservations are a must and you may even need to wait a bit, even after your reservation time arrives because diners are not hurried through their meal. And when you're offered a...glass of Prosecco while you wait, with a view of a Burano canal, who would mind waiting? Once seated, our waiter was immensely helpful, professional, and kind. The signature risotto is a must! We tried something from every course and finished with espresso and a Limoncello. We traveled through Italy for 2 weeks and this was one of the best meals and service we experienced.More

Outstanding seafood and immaculate service, with good advice on the wine list. I only wish I had tried this place years ago.

A wonderful night at a quaint, family-run restaurant on the colourful and beautiful island of Burano. A short boat journey from Venice, this restaurant is a must visit for those in town. We were made to feel very welcome by the accommodating and friendly staff....To start our night my partner and I shared a lovely bottle of white wine before tucking into the legendary seafood risotto as our starters! At around €20 euros a head, this starter is a must, a creamy indulgent risotto with a delicately balanced seafood flavour. We then shared a whole turbot, cooked on the bone, accompanied by an array of Mediterranean vegetables and potatoes. This was absolutely delicious and both courses so generous in portion size that little space was left for dessert! Overall a fabulous evening courtesy of the wonderful staff, brilliant food and the old rustic Italian vibe that attracts the interest of many who visit Venice. A must visit when there and we hope to return again someday on our travels!More

Plan ahead and make sure you visit this Michelin-rated gem in Burano. If I'm going to be honest, we visited Burano for two reasons: 1) great photography opportunities and 2) lunch at Gato Nero. And neither was a disappointment. The service and food are both...undeniably splendid. The service team are very accommodating, helpful and very knowledgeable about food and wine pairing. My partner and i enjoyed some of the finest seafood we've ever had, whether it was the fried seafood for appetizers or grilled seafood for the main course. There's absolutely nothing negative to note. This is definitely a restaurant we want to visit when we go back to Venice.More

We had seen this restaurant on Fred Sirieix’s Amazing places to eat and booked a few months ahead. This night before we emailed to add some friends to our booking and Massi was able to do this - no problem. On the day, we found...that the restaurant was fully booked so was glad we had booked ahead of time. Massi greeted us warmly and presented us with some complimentary prosecco. Always a winner! The service was first rate and the food delicious. I wish I could take the balsamic vinegar home as it was the best I’ve ever tasted. We had the calprese salad and rissotto. Was so flavoursome and was just the right amount. It’s not cheap here but it’s defiantly worth the experience as sitting by the canal looking at the colourful houses coupled with the service and food is something you just can’t get everywhere! Thank you Massi and teamMore

Al Gatto Nero is superb. Outstanding food, exemplary service and a stunning location. We went for 7 course tasting menu for lunch which took 3 hours and passed in the blink of an eye. I won’t spoil the surprise but Massi adjusts the menu each...day depending on availability and quality of produce. Stand out was seafood risotto and pasta with langoustine. Wine selection very reasonable and great. Filippi white a bargain. I would sit on the canal which had a real sense of being in the centre of events. The Head chef did a tour of tables after service. A lovely touch. Fabulous all roundMore
