About
If these stone walls could talk... These unwavering witnesses to the past would undoubtedly have delicious stories to tell. As they are not very talkative, they left a few clues behind. The tea tins, wooden boxes, old bottles and rice bags from another era recreate the ambiance of a general store, reminding us that food is part of a tradition at 160 Saint-Paul Street. With the creative cuisine of Chef Dominic Jacques, winner on the television show "Les chefs" in 2012, it has evolved from its humble beginnings as the Rioux and Pettigrew wholesale grocer to today's bistro-style restaurant. Inspired from our roots and flavors from abroad, its cuisine is authentic and creative. Rioux and Pettigrew's

Tucked below Old Montreal on a quiet street is this small fancy charm serving some creative French dishes. Service is excellent. The food rates between 4-5, pending menu. One of the better fine French dining in the area.

My wife and I recently had dinner here and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Dinner is a 4 course blind experience for $75 a person. You can select a wine pairing option for $45 and I am very happy that I did - the wines, from...Italy, Spain, and France, were all very good. Our server was absolutely fantastic and one of the real highlights of the meal. She was intimately knowledgeable about the food preparation and the wines. This was a great experience and I would absolutely go back.More

the best meal we had during our whole week trip in Canada. Even beating some of the top Montreal restaurants we ate at. Great tasting food and at a fantastic price. $75CAD for a 4 course prix fix meal. Great food presentation and taste. Coming...from California, the $75 is considered a "steal" for a fine dining experience. The wait staff is excellent and know their food well. This restaurant deserves their top rankings at TripAdvisor.More

Our first time in Quebec City, and our English is spotty, at best. No problem, as Jeremy's English was great, and his knowledge of wine was fantastic. We had the 4-course taster meal, that Jeremy paired each with wine. We added oysters to it to...begin. The meal was great, as was the atmosphere. Jeremey was wonderful.More

Lovely dining room; great service. I enjoyed the Chef's Tasting Menu: gravilax with cucumber, ravioli with wild mushroooms, other stuff I forgot. A fine place for dinner.

This was a 5+ experience for us. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The bread is a fresh baked baguette served with whipped butter. It really hit the spot as I was a bit peckish by the time we got to the restaurant. I...ordered the Arctic char served with tasty popcorn shrimps, which was fresh and savoury. We shared the mille feuille which was rich and creamy and just enough for 3 people. They have a good selection of teas and tisanes to choose from (presented in a box in small bottles, which you can smell before ordering!). I would highly recommend this restaurant! The service was attentive and efficient.More

I had a light dinner (2 courses) here earlier this week. The food was excellent, particularly the dessert with raspberries (sorbet and fresh berries). My visit was made particularly pleasant by the courteous and engaging service of Jean-Philippe. I would gladly return.

We came across this restaurant by accident. We had a bit of time before our scheduled ticket timing to visit the Museum of Civilization near by. This restaurant looked interesting, so we had a look at the menu. Some local patrons were leaving and when...asked - they said this restaurant was excellent. After a friendly greeting from the male host, and as the front dining area was full, we were walked through the central kitchen to the rear dining area (formerly an old store with pressed tin ceilings) and seated. Several young looking chefs who were prepping meal plates in the kitchen nodded to us as we passed. After being served a brunch appetizer of sorts, a pork rillette and jam, we had the "Legendaire" plate and the "Salmon Fume" (house made smoked salmon) brunch plate. We enjoyed the presentation, tastes, careful preparation of the plate items (eg perfectly poached egg). The wife said the smoked salmon was the best she has ever tasted. Interestingly, there were caribbean style fritters on her plate. As we did not linger for brunch (the museum was calling) the service we experienced was fine.More

We tried this restaurant once and loved everything about it. So, we decided to bring friends for a 2nd dinner. It was very disappointing. We were given a table in the back of the restaurant where the noise from the street and room made it...impossible to hear the conversation. The food the 2nd time was also not as good. Overall, the experience was extremely inconsistent. We would not recommend it unless you are sure to sit in the front. Also, we would suggest you pick from the a la carte menu rather than taking your chances with the chef's menu.More

As others have noted, this is a restaurant with ambitions and, on first glance, a creative menu. But the food falls well short of the ambitions. The grilled lamb and octopus was typical -- it sounded good but arrived with completely contrasting flavors and textures,...with a grab-bag of tastes like chimichurri, artichoke and tomato that didn't come together. Halibut ceviche also suffered from too many discordant flavors, including strawberry and fennel. The best dish we had, by far, was the oysters, which were delicious and came with a very nice fizzy, citrusy topping that really worked. Service was good, as was the bread, for which I believe they charged handsomely. The place has a nice ambience but is in an odd part of town, facing an ugly garage or something like it. There are better restaurants in QC.More

This is a must visit restaurant, and by far the best we have had in Quebec. The service was excellent - from the greeting, walking through the kitchen and having the chefs greet you, to the dinner service. Each dish and wine were presented with...knowledge by various sous chefs and our server. The dishes were excellent, with some very interesting parings of flavours and were visually appealing and a joy to consume! it felt like there was a team of people working hard to ensure you were treated to a very nice experience. Its not in expensive, but worth the splurge!More
