I ordered the butter chicken for the first time, requesting that it be "traditional spicy". There was zero spice, and very little flavour all around. I ended up adding in chilli flakes to try to pop it, but it was futile. The portion size was...also very small. It was delivered very quickly, although it was packaged very poorly. The delivery driver even commented, as he pulled out a plastic bag that was leaking. Luckily the napkins sopped it up so it didn't make a big mess. Still better than Trishan's which is the worst indian food I've ever had (I cannot understand how people eat there), but still not good. Go to the Pavilion if you want a good curry with lots of flavour and actual heat if desired. For the Fresh Onion, stick with their sandwiches, and their sweet potato fries. Unless you like bland curry-flavoured tomato soup.More

I went here after seeing their daily and punny jokes posted on their Facebook Page and also the yummy photos on there. It took me quite a bit of wandering to find the cafe as it is inside a big commercial buidling, but it was...worth it. The place was clean and had a modern feel to it - the ambience was good. It was almost closing time when I got there (4 pm) but the staff did not make me feel rushed or hurried. They took my order - a cup of Mexican cream of chicken, bacon, and cheeseburger with a drink. There were still incoming patrons and they still accommodated them as well. The soup was quite delicious and the burger was outstanding to have! The meat was juicy, slid down the throat and the other ingredients were fresh. I would be happy to come back here for a quick bite anytime. I suspect they're very popular with the lunch crowd!More

My husband and I were looking for a place for lunch with some healthy and tasty options. I had the butter chicken which was delicious. My husband had a soup of the day which he enjoyed. Service was friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend. It...can be hard to track down where it is in the complex, but it is definitely in there, and worth looking.More

butter chicken is good, The poutine leaves a lot to be desired, I also find the service here poor. Side note: If you check my history- I don't ever leave poor ratings for restaurants, infact I don't really do too many reviews now adays, but...today was greeted with some of the poorest service I've ever experienced at a restaurant in this town.More

Since my last review of The Fresh Onion just over a year ago, I finally had the opportunity to visit them for breakfast. In my earlier review, I raved about the freshness of their food and the fact that everything is made in-house. I still...stand by those words. My only lament is still the same: It saddens me that I cannot visit this place more often. The food they offer here is something different from what most eateries in Prince Rupert serve up, and thus it is a very popular place during breakfast and lunch. During my last visit I tried the mixed fruit crepe for breakfast. It was simple in its construction and presentation, but tasted fantastic. The ratio of crepe to fruit was spot on; the crepe wasn’t overpowered by whipped cream; and, best of all, you could tell that the crepe was house-made and didn’t come from a package (unlike a certain other place in town). After visiting The Fresh Onion for both breakfast and lunch, it’s easy to see why this place is so popular. FOOD: 5/5 SERVICE: 4.5/5 VALUE: 5/5 RECOMMENDATION: If you get a chance to visit this place for breakfast or lunch do yourself a favour and grab a seat. Their East Indian-inspired dishes are fantastic; their homemade soups are satisfying and full of flavour; and their crepes are the best in town. The Fresh Onion offers a casual, relaxed environment and genuinely excellent food. You can seriously taste the difference freshness makes! Highly recommended!More

Great food made fresh to order (or they have some quick pre-done wraps, etc in the deli case). As this place is in an office tower I understand they are mainly a breakfast / lunch place during the week. I ate here for lunch and...had a soup and veggie wrap. One of the best veggie wraps I have had. Will certainly eat here again next time I'm in town.More

A friendly local couple steered us to this wonderful cozy place. We shared broccoli-bacon soup, naan bread, and a Mexican flavored chicken salad sandwich. The food was awesome, and the waitresses friendly. Excellent choices for tea. A high point of our rainy day in Prince...Rupert.More
