We were there on June 7th, 2022. I bought food for myself and my husband. Paid with my credit card. That same day fraudulent charges started appearing on my bank account. Attempts to use my credit card number at a gas station, some fake scam...location, and several other places. Thankfully, my bank restricted my credit card. Seedy place. The food was mediocre. It was not worth the risk. Do not go there. I am so glad I'd never set foot at that place ever again!More

I come here quite often when I am up in Prince Rupert for work. They make delicious, quick Japanese food and are always really friendly. A cozy spot on a rainy Prince Rupert day for a snack or a cup of coffee too.

We haven't been to this cafe, so we decided to give this one a try. We decided to treat ourselves with a couple of drinks and a snack from an afternoon of walking all over downtown Rupert. The building was of heritage status, being one...of the oldest structures in town. It is a former bank. The outside facade has a blue awning and the entranceway has two doors. We had Mango smoothie and cafe latte and picked out the strawberry rhubarb pie. The cafe latte was alright although it was strong. The smoothie was refreshing and not too sweet. Both drinks were a good companion to the pie we had, which was okay but a little on the dry side. The service was courteous and polite. I recognized one of the servers from my most favourite restaurant in town: P&P Steak and Pasta! This was most pleasing indeed. Prices were really affordable for a quick snack. All our order was under 15 for 3 items. Our experience was not bad, but not memorable either. Maybe it would help if the place was able to produce a cohesive ambiance - the furnishings and the decors were not telling us a lot about the place or what it stands for besides being a cafe (though I did notice hints of its former identity as an internet cafe -- there was a lone computer tucked away in a corner). A good update can make people enjoy and remember their visit more.More

Possibly not a typical experience as they were about to close, but it's a nice (high) space in an interesting older building, and a Japanese tint. It's a downtown location, so off the touristy waterfront. Fairly conventional fare but the coffee is good and the...staff friendly.More

We had teriyaki tofu which came with rice and salad or soup for $10. It was tasty, the tofu was crispy and it was a decent size portion for lunch. We also had the large minestrone soup - it was more like a vegetable soup...than a minestrone. It was alright.More

We stopped her for lunch and upon entering, it wasn't fully clear if we had to order at the counter or sit down and wait for someone. We choose to order at the counter and it was very chaotic. The set-up was not the best,...with a lot of mismatched displays around the counter. The cashier was very frazzled, jumping from one task to another even as she took our order. Line ups were long because of that. But once she took our order, service was excellent. The cafe has very high ceilings but it feels cozy because of all the plants. People were actually having conversations instead of being on their phones the whole time, because you have to pay for the wifi (genius!). I personally didn't use their wifi but their rates were very reasonable (something like $2/hour or $4 for the day and free with your meal). The food was really good. My daughter ordered the teriyaki tofu as her vegetarian friend raved about it and she was very impressed. My BLT sandwich was simple but delicious. The bus boy did a really great job cleaning and taking away dishes and we asked him for a go-to box. We will definitely return with a good book to read and take in the atmosphere.More

Ate no food, but coffeed here a couple of mornings, as it was handy to our hotel. It was always calm and easy when I was there. Cheerful staff and a pretty good cappuccino. I appreciated the quiet for reading my newpaper, feeling no hurry...to drink up and go away. Did love some of the decorations, too!More

Prince Rupert felt like a depressed place when we stayed here after sailing most of the Inside Passage, with lots of empty shopfronts and a run-down feel to much of the town, and Javadotcup stands out - quirky, plenty of character, attractive dark wood decor...and some definite style. It had a fair number of customers too, earlyish on a Monday morning - always a good sign, especially when some of them are local police having a coffee who've obviously decided it's good enough for them. Breakfast muffins were good, but the coffee wasn't a highlight - strong but lacking in flavour. Given what else was around we'd probably still come back here, but not quite as good as it first appeared. A shame because it's clearly a nice place and definitely stands out from its surroundings.More
