We went here for dinner wanting to get some good authentic Italian cuisine. We arrived just before six in the evening and were greeted by the host/server post haste. He seated us near the big windows overlooking the ocean. The general ambiance of the place...is reminiscent of the 60's - in a good way. Although some parts and furnishings are dated, the restaurant itself is in clean and tip-top shape- and it is not afraid of showing their Italian identity. We also liked that they use cloths on their tables. It's a small touch but really adds to the old-school, warm atmosphere. There is a bar near the entrance which has a good stock of BC wines and Italian options as well. The service was very good - thanks to our very personable and attentive server who happens to be the son of the restaurant owner as well. He gives you some suggestions and is prompt and courteous. We also noticed the matriarch of the restaurant actively still joining in the service staff - handing out menus to arriving customers and talking to the locals, too. As for the food, all of them were excellent - real Italian food! To start, we had the Antipasto - a variety of cured vegetables and slices of meat slathered with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. This was served with breadsticks and Italian bread with butter. Our main dishes were very good and filling. The Lasagna with meatballs - the pasta was Al dente with rich sauce, generous melted cheese, and the beef was so delicious. The Beef Ravioli was also very good - pasta was cooked just right, sauce was good, and there was a generous supply of fresh grated Parmesan cheese. The pasta here easily surpasses the other options in town. For desserts, we ordered Strawberry milkshake and Chocolate Sundae. Oh these two are so creamy and good! Definitely ordering them again with different flavours. We will definitely come back here again. The matriarch of the restaurant also talked to us - and it added to the feeling of having good dinner with your grandmother.More

We had dinner here two of our three nights in in town. The service was just wonderful, very traditional Italian. The food was just as good. A very nice relaxed atmosphere with good old fashion service.

Stopped by as right beside where the airport ship dropped us off. So greatful for this experience. Clam chowder and fish and chips were delicious. Older style family run business that focuses on good food and service! Would highly recommend this restaurant. Outside there is...a drive up (think old fashioned A and W) that serves burgers and milkshakes. Worth a visit while in PR.More

We were pretty much sure we were going to give this place a try when we saw the drive-in part outside. But having read a menu we decided to eat-in and were glad we did. Looks like a family run restaurant that’s been around for...a while, great service, good drinks menu and great views over the water. Ordered a shrimp cocktail, scallopine and a burger, all of which were excellent. The scallopine came with spaghetti which was so good, I’ll definitely be trying the pasta on my next visit.More

La Gondola is a Prince Rupert classic. There are two parts to the restaurant - a drive in that focuses more on burgers and shakes and an old-school Italian restaurant. We ate in the Italian restaurant. The restaurant has great views of the water by...the way. La Gondola is definitely a bit of a step back in time with a classic dining room and simple, tasty food.More

Tried La Gondola for the first time on this trip to Rupert. The food was authentic Italian. Rustic, simple, and delicious. The price point was great and the portions were quite large ( I honestly took 3/4 of my main course home). The server was...friendly and efficient. The decor is a little dated.. but not in a bad way in my opinion. And the view is wonderful. Overall a lovely place to have dinner and worth checking out.More
