Went on a Saturday afternoon to have a drink and a snack after being out in town. Was told by the waiter they don’t allow babies (we had our 11 month old with us). Odd because we previously had dinner there with her when she...was about 2 months. Asked to speak to the owner. The owner came out and told us their AGLC license doesn’t cover babies so they aren’t allowed in. Did some research. AGLC licenses have no specifications on ages allowed in. It’s either Minors Allowed or Minors Prohibited. The James Joyce holds a Class A Minors Allowed license. The owner is lying to potential customers and discriminating against people with babies/babies. Disgusting practice.More

This is a great pub to go too, as well, surprisingly not uncomfortably crowded on a Friday night. Had fish and chips on a Friday, they let me replace the frites to a lovely salad and was a nice refreshing meal. Try the irish tea...whisky if you like. Great for big groups and family, will definitely come here again if given the chance.More

Worst curry ever Ordered the Boxty filled with chicken curry. The curry was basically thick and huge undercooked onions with maybe 3 chunks of chicken in a thick gelatinous sauce with minimal curry flavor. Inedible. The fries were good. Didn’t see our server after being...seated and receiving our drinks. Not sure if new owners or the current owners don’t care anymore. There are lots of great pubs in Calgary so do yourself a favour and go anywhere elseMore

Came here whilst in Calgary, nice decor and a good pint of Guinness but wow the food is absolutely dreadful! I've had better food at 37000 feet!! Bangers and mash, cold tasteless colcannon and sausages, burnt onions and the gravy was just not gravy!!! Now...before you reply with an excuse don't!!! It was pure rubbish!! Won't be visiting again and please hear my recommendation!! Stay clear!! Far better places who actually know how to cook and serve food!! Shame as the place is decent.More

My wife and I stopped here, on a chilly evening, during our first time in Calgary. The food and the atmosphere were excellent -- my meal included lentil soup and Shepherd's" pie -- expect big servings! The table service seemed a bit slow, but our...server was very professional and pleasant.More

We enjoyed a shared lunch of a club sandwich with fries and a glass or two of wine. Food quality good and tasty. Service excellent. Overall a good lunch at reasonable prices.

Didn’t know anything. All the ipa beer was off. Waitress had to tell him what to do. Couldn’t Pitt white wine. Couldn’t put Guinness. Waited 10 minutes to be served and clearly no training given to the guy who was a really nice guy. Train...your staff!More

Proper Irish-style pub where you can get a perfect pour of Guinness and a friendly greeting. I asked the waitress if the fish and chips were good, and she replied that many people order them. I ordered them. They were not good, but I had...another perfect pour of Guinness.More

Great pub, pretty authentic for Canada. Lots of little rooms off the main bar area and it's nicely decorated. The building is quite impressive and dates to around 1910. The Belfast breakfast is pretty decent but it would be nice to see a more traditional...'Full Irish/British' breakfast served (beans, mushrooms, black-pudding etc). I heard plenty of Irish/British accents in the pub on my few visits there. Beer selection was decent enough but maybe a couple more IPA's would be good. Staff are very attentive and pleasant. This place is well worth a visit if you like pubs. It certainly beats the numerous plastic pubs in Calgary.More

We stopped for dinner here in September. The food was quite tasty, but the pub was quite empty therefore we did not enjoy the Irish pub atmosphere we were looking for. Service is okish, price in the average.
