We went for a special dinner on 16 February. We couldn’t get a reservation on Valentines Day or the Saturday after. The restaurant was not crowded at dinner, although apparently it had been very busy for lunch. The owner, Marco, was very solicitous, helpful and enjoyable. The staff were very professional. The place is very attractive and only two years old. More importantly, the food was great. The owner loves food and describes the food as European with a local twist, which is a good description. The Caesar salad, made at the table was the best we have had in years! The wine selection is broad enough and the house wines were very good and reasonably priced. The restaurant has a great view of the sunset over SMA. The restaurant has many attractive features, including welcome drink, wash clothes that grow (🙂) and a farewell drink. The owner suggested we share courses, which was great as we are not big eaters but like to try different foods. Highly recommended and we’ll go back.

From the minute we walked in the door, the warm enthusiastic greeting, being led through the enchanting courtyard...we knew this really special. Some nice little extras like a moist towel to freshen up a bit, an amuse bouche, flavoured water. Very good wine list plus cocktails, if you must. Excellent menu plus a couple of specials. Prices are high but deservedly so. Our appetizers show cased the chef’s imagination, creative modern presentation, too. Making a selection was difficult. My tuna main, barely cooked, was superb, nice sized portion served with crisp tender vegetables. My husband’s lobster ravioli was good, a bit too al dente, I thought salty, not really top notch considering it’s labelled as a house specialty. We shared a panna cotta, the only non chocolate dessert other than gelati and sorbet. We had expected desserts to be wow worthy, but not so. Through out the evening, service remained at a very high standard. The evening ended with a complimentary digestive and chocolate truffle. This is the place for a very special evening.

We momentarily stopped on the first terrace, looked around and ventured up one more level. The breathtaking views invited us to sit and enjoy this little piece of paradise. As we did so, Felix placed wet hand towels on the table followed by a teaser from the chef, a welcome drink, and fresh bread with exquisite oil and balsamic. And this was before we ordered anything! Felix has an eye for detail that is unmatched. Our glasses were never empty, he seamlessly delivered and cleared items. First, tapas - jicama tacos- then salads- a Caprese with homemade buffalo mozzarella and a beet salad. A well planned succession of our main courses followed. His, Ossobuco. Hers, Chicken Marsala with homemade pasta. Finishing with the Chocolate Volcano. But this was not to be the end. With the check came two delectable chocolates that were quickly washed down by an icy glassed digestif. A meal that will not soon be forgotten. Bravo Casa Nostra!

This restaurant has great ambience and the service was excellent. We were first surprisingly served a lovely, cool, non-alcoholic drink. Then we ordered our cocktails and the croquets as an appetizer and even though the croquets were delicious, were served only five very small ones between the four of us. We were again surprisingly served a tiny cup of a delicious cream soup. Now we were ready for our main courses and the waiter professionally explained each dish and the preparation in detail. The men at our table ordered the homemade ravioli supposedly stuffed with lobster, etc. but complained that they did not taste any lobster, that the ravioli was tough, not al dente, but tough and had only about five or so ravioli on their plates. One other dish was the osso buco. This was beautifully plated and quite a large amount, but it was extremely salty and not at all enjoyable, therefore most of it left behind. We did not have desert, but we were served a sip of a nice iced drink as a "thank you" from the owner.
This might have just been bad food choices on our part and noticed that other customers were enjoying their meals.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the ambiance , the small details and the service in our home. The croquettes are a starter and the size is meant for 1-2 persons and not for four so I am sorry that you feel that they the portion was too small. The lobster ravioli has a filling of lobster, shrimps and mini scallops with vegetables as described in our menu and the majority of our guests seem to like this a little different filling. I am sorry to hear they were tough and we will definitely review what went wrong so that we can improve the dish now that we have the time to rework our dishes. I hope you will give us another chance and try other dishes next time.

We had our NYE dinner here. It worked out perfect! We had a table right by the edge of the terrace so we had a wonderful view of the city. The service was very professional and timely. I really appreciated their attention to detail. This was a 7 course prefix menu. The dishes were all very creative. Overall the food was excellent. The soup was heavenly and the tenderloin was perfectly cooked. The salmon tamale kind of missed the mark, flavor-wise, but all the other wonderful courses made up for it. The portions were not huge, but we left comfortably full. There was wine poured with each course, and you could also supplement that with cocktails, beer, etc... This was a great place to spend NYE. They invite you to stay and watch the fireworks from the rooftop, but we ended up walking to the Jardin. I would love to come back and try the regular menu on our next trip!

With about 25 restaurants to consider near our hotel..we struck gold with this restaurant. A beautifully renovated home with multiple levels of cozy dining areas. We were led to the rooftop by our waiter Felix.....fortunate enough to garner one of the three tables with a spectacular 360* view of the city. The drink menu deserves mention, with a wonderful list of signature cocktails. Fresh herbs and fruits highlighted our choices...served in oversized glasses. The menu offered many choices (steak lovers would be in heaven) We opted to order from the Tapas list, guided by Felix and couldn’t have been happier. Wonderful local food prepared to perfection (vegetables, cheeses, seafood) Fortunately we saved room for dessert...a warm chocolate cake served with homemade ice cream. We we were never rushed, but encouraged to enjoy the view and savor every bite. Our experience is now a fabulous memory.

This is a unique and beautiful space with indoor and outdoor dining options, spectacular views and great attention to detail throughout!
Owner Marco, is a lively and friendly international polyglot, who has put a lot of time and thought into his restaurant venture, you can feel it, you can see it, and more importantly, you can taste it!
First things first!
The unique Casa Nostra Margarita was one of the best ever. Great flavors blended and served on the rocks!
The rest of the cocktail menu was equally inspiring.
I was reluctant at first to have the "table side" Caesar salad prepared in front of us, inside a hollowed-out Parmigiano Reggiano wheel, but was delighted with the result!
Soooo good!!
The Tapas options were delicious, we had a few....to start.
Our dinner was also very well prepared, really flavorful osso buco with homemade pasta and for me chicken in a marsala & mushroom sauce with my choice of gratin dauphinois.
Plenty of fabulous dessert options and for chocoholics too!
Special thanks to the very professional and well-trained staff.
Casa Nostra is WELL worth a visit 😊

Food, drinks, service and atmosphere were excellent. I did notice that some other customers ordered a pasta dish that the waiters placed into a large round of parmesian and then scooped it all out and served it. I want to go back and try it.

Dining at Casa Nostra was on the bucket list of “Must Go”. On our last day in SMA, we had our last meal in this absolutely beautiful restaurant. From entering the restaurant for lunch to our departure, every single experience was amazing! We were met by the owner whose passion for food, wine and providing an exceptional dining experience, was nothing less than 5 Stars! The wine selection was excellent! The food was beautifully prepared and presented! The flavors were amazing! The views and atmosphere - breathtaking! I look forward to my next visit and to another wonderful dining experience ❤️.

Every time we eat here the food, the atmosphere and the service are right on point. The enthusiasm of the owner alone as he describes the daily specials is enough to get the gastric juices flowing. We were there for Valentines Day. The steak specials were mouth watering. I love it when the owner even suggests a shared plate because of the portion size. It actually gives you a chance to try more items on the menu. My favorite restaurant by far in SMA.

After waiting hours for another restaurant that cancelled our reservation, we found this spot made a quick reservation and we were seated in no time, the view did not disappoint! We will definitely be back! The owner is very attentive, made sure everything was great at all times. The mixed drinks are the best so many new options and the service is very friendly. We ordered the ribeye special and the spicy shrimp pasta it was all delicious!

We went here last night for my husband's birthday after they had just re-opened after the Covid-19 break and we loved it!
They were taking all protective measures, the staff was wearing facemasks, face shields and gloves and at the entrance they ha a disinfectant station. We had a spicy tomato sauce pasta with shrimps and beef tenderloin, both were delicious. The restaurant also has a good variety of wine. As it was my husband's birthday he got a glass of champagne and a dessert on the house. The service was excellent, very attentive and friendly. We will definitely come back here soon.

I have no complaints about the table service given but the food was hardly worth the price they charged.
We had ordered the pasta and salmon and both dishes were served almost cold and my dinner partner was not at all satisfied with the quantity of food served her, especially for the price paid. There was nothing special about the way the salmon was prepared and nothing that remarkable about the pasta I had... I could do better actually.
I have eaten in many restaurants in San Miguel and often go out for dinner. I cannot see how this restaurant earned the rating it has based on my experience.
After we had mentioned to the waiter that we were not overly pleased we were given one free serving of mediocre chocolate pudding to be shared between the two of us, and some after dinner mints. A poor attempt to make us feel better about the quality of our meal. Certainly will not be returning and I do suggest others look for a better restaurant.
They do hype the view from the terrace and it is excellent but we were unable to dine on the terrace because the sun was beating down and they could not open the sun umbrellas because of the wind. .

Thank you for sharing your experience with us as any review whether good or bad helps us to improve daily our offering. I am very sorry that you didn’t get value for your money and we couldn’t offer you a table on the rooftop. It was super windy on Sunday evening and for security purposes we could not risk to open our umbrellas and put you or other clients at risk. There are things that are in our hands and others not, I hope you understand Scott. On the plates that didn’t fulfill your expectations you would help us if you could elaborate what pasta you had so we can look into it and give us your suggestions on how to improve. On the size or portion you mention that your friend didn’t like we are working for our plates on an internationally accepted protein and carbohydrates scale of 6.5-6 ounces for the proteins and with sides that are included a total of 8-9 ounces. As our focus is on satisfying our clients but at the same time minimizing food waste our experience and feedback from our clients has been overwhelmingly positive on the size and quantity of food served with very little food waste that comes back to the kitchen and is donated to dog shelters or fed to our street dogs.
Scott it would have been a pleasure to rectify these issues at the very moment if you had asked us for more sides like rice, pasta or vegetables as we always try our best to satisfy client wishes. On my the gratuity , it was not a chocolate pudding but a mousse o chocolate we offered, one of the favorites of our clients since we have opened 4 years ago and it was not an intent to “bribe” you but an honest excuse for not having delivered on your expectations. So once again I am sorry you didn’t like your experience and plate and I hope you will send us a private message to better understand and improve our offering

Awful food for the money. Fish was previously frozen, pasta was over sauced and greasy, drinks were nothing special. Not to mention stupid hot temperature on the roof.
You can do better at any of the small joints in town serving fresh food with love.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. I am sorry to hear you didn’t like your plates and didn’t enjoy the beautiful view from our rooftop. We take all customer feedback very serious and will review your comments very carefully. Our fish, apart of the catch of the day, we offer when we get freshly caught fish, come from different parts of Mexico, are shock-frozen and then prepared freshly a la minute. San Miguel is in the middle of Mexico in a desert highland without any sea close to it, so it is the only way that we can offer our fish that is freshly caught and frozen. I am sorry if you didn’t like it. If you could elaborate which pasta you had it would help us to look carefully into the plate you mentioned. As we prepare every plate freshly at the moment we can adapt to client preferences of ingredients used, preparation allergies and serving sauces aside. If your preference is with little sauce and no olive oil it would have been a pleasure to prepare it to your liking. The majority of clients seem to like how we size, prepare and sauce our pasta plates. Our rooftop has probably one of the best views of San Miguel and yes in summer times in a desert temperatures can go up quite strongly, therefore we offer different levels - inside seating, terrace seating with a roof and our rooftop that has plenty of umbrellas to protect against the sun. Again it would have been a pleasure to accommodate you at another table with more shade if you had told us that you felt uncomfortable. I hope you continue to enjoy our beautiful pueblito and might consider to come back to enjoy a lovely cool dinner on our rooftop with a beautiful sunset.

I’ve heard both savage critiques of this place and also raves so I tried it for myself. Perhaps the criticism is because expectations are high. I thought it was uneven. Magnificent view, owner charming, waiters polite, lamb chops were terrific. However, the potato gratin was just flavorless mush, toothpick asparagus a little odd and not as good as regular asparagus would have been, bread meh, tomato bruschetta a little plain and should have been served on garlic crostini. They over-rely on theater, the Caesar at the table thing is overdone, it would be better to just ensure that each dish is delicious. Waited 10 minutes during the meal for a glass of water and another 10 for a waiter to make eye contact so I could ask for my bill. I will try it again sometime but you can get a better meal at either The Restaurant or Firenze for a slightly cheaper tab and an overall better experience.

Thank you for taking the time to review us and your honest feedback. We will check on the points and suggestions you made. If I may let me elaborate and some of your points. First of all I am glad to hear that you appreciated our place and service overall. As we are serving on three levels it can happen that certain drinks or plates take a little longer, we will definitely look into this point and hope you will see a difference when you come back. The gratin dauphinois is normally one of our favorite dishes, slices of potatoes thickened with cream, garlic and nutmeg and gratinated with Provolone and should be full of flavors, we will check on this plate as well. On the last point the bruschetta is not a bruschetta, it is toasted home made bread topped with a piccata of tomato and a a touch of garlic, olive oil and salt and pepper that is served as a side for the freshly cute jamón serrano aged for 12 months. We feel and it’s how it’s served in Spain, that a stronger or toasted garlic bread would overpower this wonderful leg of Serrano.
Please be assured that we will check each suggestion carefully and make the necessary changes, so we can improve the Casa Nostra experience
